Hi all. I just wanted to update since I was in a pretty bad situation I think and I just got through court and accepted a plea. One of my previous posts explains further, but basically I had a very high bac, fell asleep at a red light and had to be woken up by onlookers. Thankfully no one was harmed and I hit nothing during this time. I did have a public defender for this, and in all honesty I think my results would have been the same had I paid $3k+ for a lawyer.
My blood results came back and I ended up having a .21 (I had blew a .27) in az, I was offered to be reduced down to just an extreme dui with 2 days in weekend jail, 7 days at home confinement(that way I am able to go to work). I was assigned to do a drug screening then treatment and education, but I had already done that, and I will need to have an interlock device for 12 months. Lastly I just have fines due, which after everything adds up totals to about $3,700. No mdvip, no community service, no official probation, which all in all for my case I think is a great result and I am so thankful for.
I was able to get my restricted license without the iid initially because the officer hadn’t noted what I blew on the initial papers for the mvd, so I now have a week basically to get the iid and am able to drive on my own.
I was also very fortunately able to maintain getting to my job during the time I wasn’t able to drive with some hep and A LOT of Ubers lol, but I do think my ability to maintain my job was beneficial for me.
When this whole thing started and I was reading up on everything I was in a panic to be honest and felt sick to my stomach every time I thought about what could happen. (Google is not your friend in this situation and I would heavily advise staying away from the lawyer websites) I finally feel like I can breathe and start planning my life again without pulling myself down.
Since I got the dui I’ve been California sober…lol. Not so much because I think I’m alcoholic, but because I put myself into realllyyy dumb, bad situations with not all of the best people when I do drink, which I don’t love for myself and I honestly need to talk to someone about it (lots of unresolved issues in my life.) I’m sure I will drink in the future but at this point it’s a no.
I want to thank everyone for their posts, I’m not sure how exactly I would have dealt with this situation had I not had this community to go to. I don’t post/comment much if at all, but being able to read other people’s experiences from this side was immensely helpful for me. Sending well wishes to everyone, but in the nicest way possible I am hoping to not have to ever to this forum.

They drive all the time like driving their oldtimer on sunday. Once you use perks the chance is higher to waste the perk/s you activated when losing. I don‘t think its a monkey tactic, that‘s typical EA.

Tl;dr: separated since February, divorced since April. After having begged my ex to work on our marriage and not throw it all away before divorcing to no avail, she now wants to casually date me to see if she can rekindle her romantic feelings towards me. Part of me wants to go for it, part of me is too hurt and feels she's taking the wrong approach as the trust that was broken will need a giant effort on her part to rebuild, and she wants to pretend like nothing ever happened.
My ex (27F) and I (29M) recently divorced. We separated in February, filed in March, divorce was finalized in April. We were together for almost 8 years, married 5.5y. We have an almost 4yo.
For simplicity, I'm just going to refer to her as my wife below if I'm talking about a time we were still married.
My wife was the one to ask for the divorce, claiming she had fallen out of love with me and had been feeling this way for over 2 years, but was trying to make it work.
I did not see the divorce coming at all. I thought our marriage was improving and I was seriously crazy about my wife. For me divorce had never been an option (outside of cases of abuse, or infidelity), much less a thought that ever crossed my mind. I thought my wife felt the same way.
As hard as it is to hear your wife wants to leave, the biggest pain came from the timing. She broke the news the moment I came out of an 8 day quarantine. Our daughter had come down with covid, so I stayed with her so my wife wouldn't get sick. During those 8 days all I thought about was my wife, how much I loved her, how much I missed her, how much her happiness meant to me. As soon as I came out of quarantine, she hit me with the news. It was devastating. To add to the bad timing, the next day was her citizenship appointment (she obtained citizenship through our marriage).
The timing + the request for divorce left me broken and questioning our entire marriage. Had I simply been used? Did she only marry me so she could gain citizenship? Did she just use me to bring her family (we brought her brother and her mom from her country and they were living with us)? Was she just waiting until she had everything she needed and then she could throw me away? My self worth took a dive for the months to follow.
I pleaded with her to reconsider. To try couples counseling, to try a separation rather than a divorce, to try anything, but her mind was made up and she did not want to be married to me anymore. Up until the day of the hearing I kept hope and I asked her if she was sure, or if she wanted to reconsider. The answer was always the same. The day of the hearing something within me broke. I knew the relationship was over and I decided to move on.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I noticed my ex was acting strange. She kept lingering when dropping off our daughter. She randomly brought me food. She called me just to talk to me (rather than to talk about our daughter). Until finally she sent me a message asking me out on a date. I called her and we talked about her feelings.
She said she was confused. Felt like she might have made a mistakes. Said she missed having me around. Said she really wanted our daughter to have her family full time. (For reference, my ex has been having a really rough time with our daughter. She has her 3 days a week, but those 3 days are very difficult as our daughter often doesn't listen to her and constantly just asks about me. I do not have any issues with my daughter when she is with me, and she has asked for her mom maybe 4 times in over 4 months we've been living apart). But she did say she still did not feel romantically attached to me.
She said she wanted to go on dates so we could maybe start over and rekindle a relationship. But she said she had a lot of doubts about her feelings. I told her I wasn't opposed to the idea, but that I needed some assurances. That she had to be 100% sure that it is what she wanted and that she was going to have to work very hard to try to rebuild the trust that she had broken. I told her to seek counseling, get her thoughts straight, and figure out what she wanted before we did anything.
Yesterday she called and told me she has been seeing a therapist and that he has helped clarify her thoughts. She said the therapist recommended that we have casual sex to try to rebuild the romantic aspect of the relationship, but that she did not feel comfortable with that. Then she said she at this time we should just move on. I didn't know what to say so we just ended the call. After some time I sent her a message thanking her for her honesty, but stating that I did not really understand what had changed since our conversation a few weeks ago. That based on that I felt it made the most sense that if she was feeling doubts, that she explore thise doubts while the possibility still exists. But that I was done begging for love, for her to do what she felt was right for her, and that I hoped she finds what she is looking for.
She then sent me a bunch of messages basically saying she wants to try something casual to see if her romantic feelings return. That she didn't bring it up again because she feels it's too different from what I need (her being 100% sure she wants to try again and working hard to rebuild the trust she broke) and that if it doesn't work the semblance of an amicable relationship we have will just be broken. She said if I want to start from 0 and try something casual to see what happens, that she is open to that. I left her on read as I didn't know what to say. After a few hours she called me and I told her it would be best if we speak in person. Her dad and her other brother are visiting starting next week so she said it likely wont be until they leave towards the end of the month.
I don't know what to do. Part of me really wants to try, I mean if she had mentioned this prior to the divorce being finalized, I don't think I would've had any objections. But now, I feel it's not fair to me. I feel like I am the one taking all the risk, and there is no accountability for her and the way she blew up out lives and this is just a recipe for disaster and if it doesn't work out I'm going to be shattered. But then again I feel like if I'm going to have to start from 0 with a stranger, why not try it with my ex. Don't I owe her at least that much? Don't I owe it to our daughter to put my pride aside and try again? But how do you casually date your exwife? Is it possible to "start from 0" when there's so much history and a child in between.
Any and all advice, comments, thoughts are appreciated.

It’s exactly like it sounds. Pay rates in CA through the apps have gone down to a dollar more than minimum wage for my area. I have applied to a local nursing program and have yet to hear back. I have been a CNA for 12 years and I absolutely cannot handle it anymore. The verbal abuse over things I cannot control (Grandma hates Rye bread, I’m to blame), verbal abuse in general, physical abuse (being hit, kicked, bitten), and just changing briefs in general that aren’t my own children.
The pandemic is “over” now and so our rates have plummeted. I am exhausted. Seriously considering going to work at target? Starbucks? Anything?

Just received a text that I can schedule delivery and in clicking the link the delivery location is over 300 miles away - is this normal? If you’ve spent much time on Reddit recently, you’ve probably seen explanations of a general protest. Below I’ll explain my perspective and why I’m joining that protest.
Reddit is not a content provider, so they do not charge for their services. Instead, they provide a platform for users like you and me to participate and produce our own content.
ChristianMarriage is one of those communities, and I believe it has been a good thing. There are lots of places on the internet (and on Reddit) where people get advice about relationships, but a lot of this advice is either secular in nature or is sexism and misogyny dressed up as religious. We’re not perfect, but this community has long been one of the healthiest places I’ve seen in terms of giving advice that is both based in the Christian worldview and is decent and caring towards people who need help.
Reddit is trying to transition from being a private company to being publicly-traded. So they want their investors to see a very profitable model. And the way they’re doing that is by forcing every user to use their proprietary app that can be loaded with ads and data tracking.
The problem with that, from my perspective, goes beyond forcing us to view ads to view the content that we’ve contributed to. As a moderator, I use a number of tools to help me do that. I use the Apollo app because it is far more functional than Reddit’s app. I use other tools to check users’ histories, to catch spam, and to keep us free from bots. Many of these tools will be disabled.
Frankly, I do not know how I will moderate if Reddit goes through with these changes. I do this in my free time, and it is already a lot of work. If the workload increases because I have to work with inferior tools, I will have an even harder time keeping up than I already do. So this protest is my warning that Reddit’s changes may mean the end of this community as we know it.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this community and I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, as it is not something with an answer that is black and white. I have been seeing my NP psychiatrist for the past year and a half about once every month. In the beginning our relationship was very surface level, due to my many previous traumas and a long history of emotional neglect and abuse. Overall, I had a hard time trusting her even though I wanted to, and my lack of communication skills due to my rough upbringing did not help at all. Fast forward to this year- I've spent almost two years in therapy and have learned how to communicate effectively and understand my past in order to identify my problem areas. And my realtionship with my NP psychiatrist has grown into something very important and valuable to me and I am very appreciative of her guidance. Now here's the tricky part. I have been working in the service industry for over 20 years and am very passionate about hospitality and customer service. And as much as I hate to do it, I do judge people based on how they treat their server, bartender or barista. I can't help it. After doing this for so long, you get to see so many people and begin to understand how their treatment of those that are serving them is a direct reflection of their values and beliefs. I recently got a part time job at a coffee shop, as I have been scraping by over the past few years and needed to find a way to try and save just a little bit of money.(thanks inflation!) And for the first time in my entire life, I am mentally stable enough to be able to work the number of hours necessary and maintain my mental health. My psych NP knows all of this and has been very supportive. Then she came into the coffee shop on one of my shifts (she didn't know that this was where I was working) and gave me a look that said "don't engage." And I didn't engage- I understand that it is much more complicated on her end, so I just followed her lead. She ordered a smoothie, which I made, and then she completed the payment process on the tablet. I thanked her and she left. But then I noticed that she didn't tip. And I know that this is completely subjective- I am not waiting tables so I am not relying on tips as my means of income and I in no way expect people to tip me. But, if a friend came in, or someone that I know, yes, my opinion on this matter does change. I can't help it. If I ordered from someone that I knew, I would 100 % leave them extra money. But that's just me. And I know for a fact that my NP psych makes a lot more money than me. (Like A LOT) And she knows me. I just can't help but feel that it wasn't okay, and I know that this is just my opinion, but it still makes me feel bad. I'm not sure that I feel comfortable trusting in her any more. I have been more vulnerable with her and my therapist than I have been with anyone else in my life- and in order to do that I need to place my trust in them and truly believe that they also want what is best for me. Sorry that this post is so long. Am I in the wrong? I kind of want to find a new psychiatrist...
