Kind of a mid movie for me. I'll start with what I thought were its strengths, though:

• Movie's pacing was super tight. Not a lot of filler, and everything shown was being used to drive the plot forward.
• If you look at it as simply an Indie Ocean's 11-type heist movie with less character development and an eco-terrorism flavour, then it's alright.
• The Indigenous character, Michael, almost certainly had autism and was by far the most interesting character.
• None of the dialogue was as cringe as I expected it to be.
• They actually blow up the pipeline.
• The only competent ones were the dudes who lived super rurally and knew how to hold their shit down, while the city kids were all pretty useless. Big fan of that.
• Need more movies that advocate for direct action so it's a good start.

Here's what I thought were its weaknesses, though:

• None of the characters had enough development or unique qualities to make me really give a shit about them. I understand the tight and crisp narrative thing they were going for, but there still could've been a lot more room to flesh out these characters. A lot of them were just personifications of regular movie tropes with nothing else interesting about them.
• Their motivations for blowing up the pipeline weren't all that compelling. I'm paraphrasing, but two of the characters (who are friends) essentially look at one another and go "You have cancer and I'm an orphan bc of pollution. Let's blow up a pipeline." Idk, that seems like a very intro-level understanding of the motivations behind why people do stuff like this. It just seemed very juvenile to have the primary motivation be "Climate change and pollution has materially affected me and I must enact justice on my own behalf." You rarely see people in Western movies commit acts like these purely out of moral resolve and a strong relationship with their ideology and principles.
• The twist of the movie: The fact that two of the characters were fed informants but it turns out that the main characters actually already know that and are using that to let the others get off free, while they intend to get caught so they can platform their anti-oil message in court. That would be fine, sure. But the entire twist relies on the audience thinking that, for most of the movie, some of the main characters are literally retarded for letting these fed informants into their group when they were so obviously fed informants. They literally meet in a library where one MC is reading a book about eco-terrorism or whatever, and the fed informant starts a convo, and the MC essentially goes: "I'm working on a project. I'm putting together a crew...." and suddenly the fed informant is part of the group ?????
• the MC thinking that she will somehow get off free in court which will strengthen the resolve of others, who now see that you can just commit acts of terror and not go to prison? That this will spark some kind of movement? Obviously the feds know that and will absolutely not let her go, regardless of whether or not pollution in her hometown killed her family. That main plot point at the end bothered me because it just makes no sense whatsoever.

It was overall an ok movie. Weird characters, tight pacing, somewhat juvenile and surface-level understanding of anti-climate change ideology. It's hard for me to take a movie seriously when the main characters are mostly arts majors living in a city with no expertise whatsoever, who rely completely on an autistic dude from North Dakota. I feel like the only way something like this happens is the same way al-Qaeda was able to accomplish anything: with high-ranking members who, although religious fanatics, are very highly educated and in possession of technical expertise (degrees in engineering, chemistry, biology, medicine, computer science) that allows them to succeed in committing acts of terror. Anyways, I'd still recommend it. It's a good, but not great movie.

Hello, I am a guy (Indian) with long hair. I usually apply coconut oil to it. It makes it curl a bit and I love the look for the time being. However, after I go to wake up the next day. My hair is completely clumped and I need to wash it shampoo (head and shoulders) every time to get it back to normal. As a result I have been washing my hair everyday with shampoo and I do not know if that's good for my hair or not. Is there a type of oil that is removed just by washing your hair with water? Or is there a replacement product that removes the coconut oil easily without it being a shampoo

Recently I’ve been enduring a major bathroom renovation. As in tearing the bathrooms down to studs and redoing everything – pipes, wiring, walls, the works. Which was needed – the old waste water pipes were cast iron and almost rusted out – but still left me shaving out of the GoBag for several weeks.
Now, I do change out what goes in the GoBag ever so often. But even so it is a limited palette. Doubly so when comparing to the fairly big rotation I normally have – 25+ razors, sevenish brushes, and I don’t even want to count how many soaps and creams. But, to harp on the point, for several weeks my palette was a single razor, a single brush, and two soaps. Oh, and an aftershave and a preshave.
Which granted is what most shavers have had to deal with throughout history. It is only recently that shaving as a hobby has gained much traction. And even today, in what I would consider a Golden Age of traditional wetshaving, the vast majority of shavers have a razor and a lather. And most of those savages probably don’t even have a single brush…
A collage of my limited palette shaves
There is a couple of lessons to be had from my experience. Well... lessons identified at least, which is not the same as lessons learned.
First of, shaves are still enjoyable even when they get repetitive. A large rotation adds variation and enjoyment, but is not strictly speaking needed for a good shave and a Moment of Zen. A single soap is enough, if that soap gives good lather. And if it can air out between shaves, a single brush suffices. And if the razor is good – as my 105 year old Gillette “Khaki Kit” Old Type is – a single razor is sufficient. This is very much a lesson re-identified, since that is how I was shaving for the first year after getting into traditional wetshaving – I was deployed to Africa, and only had one of each.
Secondly, even though a large rotation isn’t needed… you do miss having choices when you’re used to having them. Face lathering is great, but even so I missed having the option to whip up lather in a bowl. The beard oil in my GoBag is damn good, but so are the ones that were packed up at home. And I did miss my horse hair brushes, although the boar travel bush is a damn fine brush.
And lastly, shaving at work means a lot of cartridge shavers will express curiosity about the noble art of traditional wetshaving. Thankfully I stocked up on some Gillette Super Blue safety razors a while back, so I have handed a couple out to curious colleagues.
So with all that in mind, what are my overarching thoughts on the experience?
Well… I did it. I didn’t suffer. But I rather not do it again.

This is a list of how my hair has changed. I am doing strict avoidance of tap water in my hair (only distilled water, rain water, or water vapor).

Color

• Before: dark brown color with gold/green/red overtones depending on the lighting.
• After 7 months: almost pure black, with no overtone colors. My ends were even more black than my roots.
• After 9 months: My ends have achieved the same color as my roots, which is almost-black. It appears blue toned in some lights and warm black in other lights.

Random bumpy hairs

• Before: I had some random bumpy/coarse/kinky hairs mixed in, even though my hair is mostly smooth.
• After 7 months: many of my shed hairs had a few inches of smooth new growth, and the rest of the hair was bumpy/coarse old growth.
• After 9 months: It is getting a lot harder for me to find any bumpy/coarse hairs. Every now and then one gets caught in my brush, with a white bulb that looks like it was at the end of its growth cycle shedding naturally. On these shed bumpy hairs, there was smooth new growth.

Favorite type of wash

• Before: weekly shampoos
• After 7 months: shampoos every 2-4 weeks
• After 9 months: I haven't shampooed in 7 weeks but I like doing a "wax on, wax off" style of cleaning with lanolin. I do a lanolin application and allow it to leave my hair at its own pace, through brushing or transfer to brushes/pillowcases. I also periodically brush it and expose it to warm water vapor to help the lanolin soften. This takes a few days. Then my hair is shinier and fluffier and less oily than it was before I applied lanolin.

Hair immediately before a wash

• Before: greasy roots, dry ends. Metallic smells.
• After 7 months: shiny and deflated and soft all the way to the ends. No smell.
• After 9 months: before a lanolin application, my hair is shiny and deflated and soft all the way to the ends. No smell.

Texture soon after a wash

• Before: 2b/2c texture, fine but a lot of it. Fluffy and huge.
• After 7 months: 2b/2c texture, fine but a lot of it. Fluffy and huge.
• After 9 months: after a lanolin application my hair feels either waxy, or oily, or like unrinsed conditioner, depending on which type of lanolin I used. The lanolin application makes it temporarily smell like metal (lanolin gets into a chemical reaction that helps break down metal) but the amount of metal smells are decreasing a lot in each successive lanolin application. In the first few lanolin applications, my old hair that used to touch hard water felt crunchy and frizzy, but that no longer happens, now it feels the same smooth texture as my new growth that never touched hard water.

Texture 1 week after a wash

• Before: 2a waves, greasy at the roots. Dry and crunchy in the mid lengths and ends. Metallic smells. Easily tangled. Needed to hide it with a hat or ponytail.
• After 7 months: 2a waves, soft and smooth and shiny, no greasiness, no smell. Feels silky and still voluminous. No tangles. Dreamboat hair. Ideal time to wear it down and enjoy it.
• After 9 months: 1 week after a lanolin application is almost exactly the same hair that I used to have 1 week after a shampoo, except more shiny.

Texture 2 weeks after a wash

• Before: very unpleasant metallic smells, sticky, and greasy. I rarely did this because it was so unpleasant.
• After 7 months: 2a waves, soft and smooth and shiny, no greasiness, no smell. No tangles. Very shiny and sleek, but also deflated and it lays closer to my head. I do microfiber dry wiping and/or roller sets to make it bigger.
• After 9 months: 2 weeks after a lanolin application is the same hair that I used to have 2 weeks after a shampoo.

Texture 3-4 weeks after a wash

• Before: not even possible unless I was having a mental breakdown. Too disgusting.
• After 7 months: same exact hair as 2 weeks after a wash, unless I got silicone skincare products in it, or Vaseline. This time range is totally doable as long as I'm careful about not getting specific things in my hair that can't wipe out. It smells neutral. It feels silky. Just deflated (unless I do a roller set or something like that to make it bigger).
• After 9 months: same as above; my hair goes to this default silky state and just stays there.

Wiping things out of hair

• Before: "I can't just wipe stuff out of my hair, that's ridiculous! People who say they can do that are probably in denial."
• After 7 months: I can clean my hair with a brush and a dry washcloth. Stuff just slides right off. Odors, dust, pollen, oil, wax, lanolin, and sebum all slide right off. Silicone doesn't wipe off, and Vaseline doesn't, so it's not a full replacement for liquid washing, but definitely gives more options about how to clean my hair.
• After 9 months: I am wiping my hair less often because it seems to need it less often. I still do daily boar bristle brushing.

How human sebum feels in my hair

• Before: "yuck, I need to wash that out. Sticky and it smells metallic."
• After 7 months: "sebum is the most amazing styling product that exists, how can I buy something similar to put in my hair?" The smell is totally neutral and it feels like silk and looks amazing. (In hindsight, my previous opinion of sebum was probably a chemical reaction between sebum and hard water buildup - not sebum alone.)
• After 9 months: Human sebum is fantastic, but lanolin has a stronger reaction to the type of buildup that remains in my hair, so I'm relying more on lanolin lately to help get the last bits of tap water buildup out of my hair.

Scalp health

• Before: my scalp itched if it was more than a few days since my last wash. White waxy stuff was visible under my fingernails if I scratched it.
• After 7 months: no scalp itching and no white waxy stuff under my fingernails. (Big caveat though- my scalp itching only completely goes away when I use distilled water. RO water brings back these symptoms for me, but much more slowly than tap water would)
• After 9 months: no scalp itching and no white waxy stuff under my fingernails.

My main hair concerns

• Before: Ugh I need to wash it again already because the roots are greasy, but the ends are still so dry.
• After 7 months: My hair looks better 1 or 2 weeks after a wash than immediately after...how can I make it look less recently washed, sooner?
• After 9 months: Solved my "7 month" hair concerns by simply not shampooing it. 🤷‍♂️ How to time my lanolin applications since my hair will look oily for about 3 days?

Brushing

• Before: "my hair hates brushing, it gets too puffy and that accentuates how dry my hair is"
• After 7 months: "I love brushing. I now own 5 hairbrushes and use them daily" - hair looks smooth and shiny after brushing.
• After 9 months: still love brushing 🥰 boar bristle brushing can make my hair look heat styled even though it isn't.

I've been cycling for years, but usually buy inexpensive bikes and just replaced them when they stop working. But this time I've had a decent mountain bike (just front suspension) and wanted to make more of an effort looking after it.
So I'm hoping for recommendations on best oil to use on the chain and/or suspension. Best types of brushes and cleaners to use? Not after the very best, Tour de France level, but affordable suggestions in order to prolong the life of my bike. Currently do around 20 miles a week on it.
