2023.06.06 14:11 Forexnewsupdate The Intelligent Cryptocurrency — The Intelligent Cryptocurrency Review

Education is crucial to making money in the cryptocurrency world. You risk being an easy target for someone who wants to take advantage of you without that opportunity. Luckily, the cryptoverse has grown, and more and more free educational materials are appearing every day.
Thanks to books and videos, learning about cryptocurrencies has never been easier. Webinars are one such technique. Accordingly, today's webinar focuses on intelligent cryptocurrencies and is suitable for beginners.
What is a smart cryptocurrency?
Cryptocurrency expert Dirk de Bruin has created a free webinar called Smart Cryptocurrency. As an experienced professional, Dirk De Bruin has been working full-time in the cryptocurrency sector since 2015.
The 75-minute webinar serves as an introduction to cryptocurrency investing for beginners. Therefore, no technical or business knowledge is required. Furthermore, Dirk falsely claims that a trader with a $1,000 investment can make a profit of $271,244 just by timing his buys and sells. The focus is also on the "great bitcoin and cryptocurrency opportunities that are currently available." Of course, the free webinar cannot cover everything you need to know to be successful with cryptocurrencies.
It serves Durk as a selling point for his sky-high masterclass. It's safe to say that the main goal is not to teach you about cryptocurrencies, but to sell you other items. In order to access the webinar, you must also register with your email address. If you do this, you can expect to receive a lot of email promotions.
What will you learn during the Smart Cryptocurrency Masterclass?
Over the course of 75 minutes, Dirk will explain the basics of trading and his credentials as an authority on the cryptocurrency market. However, one cannot learn much in a short time and will be tempted to buy other products.
Although the webinar is also aimed at advanced investors, it is perfect for beginners.
Who is Dirk de Bruin?
He gained notoriety as a cryptanalyst after entering the cryptoverse in 2015.
He shares his information on his YouTube channel Intelligent Cryptocurrency – Dirk Crypto Diggy and on social media.
After that, he founded the company that provides free webinars, Discord channels, buy and sell signals, and many more things that we will discuss later.
Additionally, he participates in many crypto events around the world and occasionally donates bitcoin.
main topics covered
Dirk makes it clear that what he is saying is not intended to be financial advice. The goal of the free master class is to introduce you to the basics of investing in cryptocurrencies and to convince you to learn more and buy more of their products.
The following topics are covered within 75 minutes.
how bitcoin works
The king of all cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin is a prerequisite for any crypto beginner course. Dirk begins by describing the main characteristics of Bitcoin and why it is so valuable. He then describes how bitcoin issuance works, how bitcoin solves the double-spending problem, and why bitcoin is so special.

2023.06.06 14:07 Jackviator The Spacer’s Guide to Caring For Your Pet Human (Part 20)

<< FIRST
< PREVIOUS
Hello, spacers!
On this episode, the group takes a stab at historical reenactments, the author takes some… “subtle” comedic jabs at certain contemporary events, and we find out where they’ve been hoarding the post-apocalyptic Twinkies.™
As always, I hope you enjoy. :)
——
As the group exited the Air Force base and began heading towards their destination, Kate looked at the surroundings as they walked. The area looked relatively untouched by the chaos of the past few weeks. The only evidence of it was an enormous pillar of smoke in the distance.
As Jack noticed Kate and a few others in the group staring at it, he nodded in understanding.
“That’s downtown Saint Paul, or at least the remains of it. From what we’ve been able to gather, the nuke we couldn’t stop in time exploded almost directly above the Capitol building. We only managed to put out the last of the fires in what little remains of downtown earlier today.”
“…How many people-“
Anticipating the question, Jack cut her off.
“We don’t know. …We may never know. We can only speculate.”
Kate’s face fell.
“Yeah, I figured that’d be the answer…”
Kate remained morosely silent as they approached the fort. Jack turned to address the crowd.
“Welcome to historic Fort Snelling. …Well, historic to us humans, anyway. Having a fort two centuries old is probably chump change to all of you from a time perspective, eh?”
Kate’s brow furrowed in confusion as she looked up at the stone walls of the fort, its stone tower chock-full of early-1800’s firearm loopholes meant for muskets.
“Wait, what?! …When they said we were going to “Fort Snelling,” I figured it’d be an active military base. Why’re we using a historic site…?”
Jack chuckled.
“It wasn’t actually the military’s decision to do that. A couple days after the bombs fell, a group of survivors moved into the fort. When questioned, I believe the leader of the initial group was quoted as saying “EMPs can’t knock out a big damn wall.” She was right; the stone walls of the fort are a great deterrent to looters and other kinds of people looking for trouble, and it’s easily defensible. Given that we obviously had way bigger things to worry about at the time, we just let them be.
Then, as more and more people showed up to our Air Force base looking for help, we decided the fort would make a good site for a refugee camp. The original group didn’t object; they actually welcomed the security having others around brought, especially once we started the organized armed patrols a few days ago.”
Y’ggdrasog piped up from beside Kate, a bit of indignation in his tone.
<“That’s all well and good, but what about respecting its historic significance? …Preserving the past, and all that?”>
“Relax. The only truly historic things here are a few of the buildings. The vast majority of what was on display inside said buildings- antique-looking tin cups, butter churns, muskets, that sort of thing- were just modern-made replicas, to give visitors an idea of what the fort used to look like back when it was still in use.
…We’ve actually thrown the vast majority of that junk into those “assimilator” thingies you Collective types brought along with you. It was either that, or burn them to keep warm. …Way I figure it, we can always just make more fake “historic” tchotchkes when we’re not fighting for the survival of our species, eh?”
Y’ggdrasog crossed his arms, and while he was clearly still unhappy about it, relented.
<“…Alright, fair enough...”>
As the group finally passed through the fort’s front gate, Kate could see a veritable sea of tents in the center of the area. They had passed plenty of tents on the way there in parking lots, boulevards and so on, but not nearly to this level of density.
Kate marveled at the sight, leaning toward Y’ggdrasog to murmur.
“People must have fought to get placed in here until there was literally no room left, and the tents were packed in like sardines.”
Y’ggdrasog gave her a quizzical look.
<“…What’s a “sardine?””>
“It's just a- …nevermind, it’s not important…”
Migtryl began to speak as the rest of the group filed through the gate.
<“Here and a few spots outside the fort are where you’ll be working for the most part. We reserved several tents for you to use both in and outside the fort, customized with your biologies in mind. I’ll start by giving you all a tour of the premises, so you can familiarize yourself with the different areas you might be needed.
…Starting off, over there you’ll see the impromptu medical center we’ve constructed. If you have any prior medical experience in your work history, you will be placed there. Next, we’ll be moving to…”>
Migtryl began walking off, talking and occasionally pointing with a wing or leg as they went and the group trailed behind them. As Kate tried her best to keep pace with Y’ggdrasog’s long strides, she could see that the crowds of humans inside the fort were parting like a sea around them, just like they behaved at the runway. Many looked at them with fear in their eyes, others with disgusted sneers.
Kate’s shoulders slumped as she finally realized:
Almost no one trusts them yet.
She was so lost in thought over the implications of this that she bumped into Y’ggdrasog, who had abruptly stopped walking. She glanced up at him to see him staring toward a group of humans near the edge of the medical center. His glow was crimson, his eyes haunted. She followed his gaze to see-
Her eyes widened.
Oh no…
The man he was staring at lay on a cot under an improvised tarp-tent. They were being tended to by several medical personnel, both human and alien, that were changing the bandages covering their body, and little wonder; they were absolutely covered in burns.
Before Kate could think of what to do to help her friend, she saw J’Ffrane almost literally materialize between Y’ggdrasog and the bandaged burn victim. Their voice was warm and soothing as they spoke.
<“Feel this moment, accept it, then let it pass. Remember? …Don’t let yourself drown in it.”>
It was like Y’ggdrasog was awakened from a dream as he blinked a few times and glanced at J’Ffrane.
<“Y-yes, I- …I remember...”>
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, slowly letting it out in a shaky exhale as he turned to Kate, opening his eyes once more to meet her concerned gaze.
<“Come on, let’s not fall too far behind.”>
“…Are you alright?”
Y’ggdrasog gave her a weak smile, though the crimson of his stressful glow remained.
<“Of course I’m not. …But that’s not going to stop me from helping your people.”>
He took one last glance at the burn victim before turning and setting off once more towards the tour group.
J’Ffrane gave an approving nod as he walked away, leaning towards Kate and whispering.
<“He’s come so far... Half a cycle ago, he likely would have been nearly catatonic for the rest of the day.”>
Despite the encouraging words, Kate’s shoulders fell as she started walking after Y’ggdrasog.
“I should have thought of this... There have to be thousands- no, tens of thousands, maybe even six figures worth of burn victims from the bombs, in these two cities alone!”
<“And we will be with him to hold out a limb to grasp when he needs it. Just as he and I will be there for you, and you two for I, should the need arise.”>
Kate looked up at J’Ffrane, surprised.
“How would we help you?”
J’Ffrane smiled down at her.
<“You already have. Every person who asks for my assistance helps me immensely just by doing so. It helps me remember that I have a place in the world, and that place is giving the help they so desperately need. …Now then, let’s catch back up to the crowd and find out how we can best do that here, hm?”>
And with that, J’Ffrane’s dissipated as they flew forward towards Y’ggdrasog and the rest of the group trailing along behind Migtryl.
“Hey, wait up!”
——
Despite the brief interruption, Kate hadn’t missed much by the time she caught back up, and she was soon learning more and more of the facilities and service centers the Collective had constructed around the fort.
While the local military stationed in the fort were (rather fittingly) occupying the fort’s centuries-old barracks, they were actually the main supplier of the vast majority of the tents around the compound.
“More tents are being constructed every day for use in the surrounding area,” said Jack. “We ran our own supply of military-grade tents dry a few days ago, but we’ve been able to scavenge more from places like camping supply stores, alongside manufacturing our own from tarps and the like. Not exactly comfortable to live in, but we have to take what we can get.”
Kate put her good hand up to ask a question, shivering a bit as she did so in the crisp, late-autumn air.
“How well do they retain heat in all this cold?”
“A very good question. Normally it would be quite the problem, doubly so given just how damned cold Minnesota can get in fall weather alone. Luckily, however, the Collective came up with a solution. …Migtryl?”
<“We used a few of the fabricators we have at our disposal to create personal solar-powered heating units to heat each tent. …It’s a bit inefficient given the cloud cover, but on even the cloudiest of days they’re able to achieve over 150% of the solar exposure needed to get a full, week-long charge in a matter of hours.”>
Jack chimed in with a smile.
“It certainly beats the bonfires we filled with whatever we could lay our hands on to burn before you all got here, that’s for sure!”
From there, they moved on to the camp’s utilities.
As the water purification plants of the area had been rendered mostly inoperable by the EMPs and cyberwarfare attacks, the Collective had repurposed a few industrial sump pumps to direct water from the Mississippi River into an assimilator system. The assimilator broke it down and removed all the pollutants in the river water until all that remained was potable water, and distributed to locals to drink-
<“…or at least, to those who don’t refuse to drink it, that is.”> Migtryl said.
An alien of a species Kate didn’t recognize (one that almost resembled a snake if not for their arms and upright stature, who was strapped to a mechanical walker to get around the terrain) piped up, beating her to the punch.
<“Why wouldn’t they drink it?”>
Migtryl paused, glancing at Jack and weighing their words carefully before speaking.
<“…A small, but nonetheless very vocal portion of the local population seem to be under the mistaken impression we’re putting chemicals, nanites and so on in the water to do things such as influence their actions, up to and including controlling their sexuality, for some reason. …Anyway, such people often choose to simply boil and drink water taken directly from the river itself, instead of taking the purified water rations we offer.”>
In contrast to the shocked and horrified reactions of the aliens around her, Kate merely sighed and rolled her eyes.
Yeah, that sounds about right…
Another alien, this time a kentzaré, timidly raised one of their manipulation tendrils.
<“...Have many people gotten sick from doing that?”>
<“Unfortunately, yes. Even boiling the water sometimes wasn’t enough to prevent many such individuals from developing symptoms of several waterborne-based diseases, and that’s not even going into the possible long-term effects of the various pollutants in the water.
We also have individuals here and there who even refuse the fallout-proof masks we offer. …Something about “not using them before, not using them now” and “not living in fear”…?”>
As Kate facepalmed hard enough to leave a handprint mark on her forehead for a minute or two, Migtryl shook his head in frustration.
<“…We must make an effort to always remember that the majority of these people are hurt, scared, and in all likelihood grieving the death of at least one loved one, friend, or what have you. Most do not trust us. We must simply be patient with them, help those willing to receive it, and not give those who are unwilling any further cause for suspicion or hostility. …Now, come along; we have much more to look at.”>
With that, they both turned and began walking towards a long but narrow stone building. As they reached it, Jack turned to the group.
“This is the commissary. It’s where we keep the supplies we distribute to the civilians. It may look small, but looks can be deceiving. …C’mon, let’s step inside. Just remember to dust yourself off first!”
Y’ggdrasog glanced at the door clearly made for human proportions and shook his head, sighing as he turned to Kate.
<“You two go on ahead. I have no desire to work out the kink in my back later from having to be hunched over inside.”>
Kate smiled in amusement as several other taller species of aliens nodded, muttered their agreement and so on.
“Well, sorry on behalf of humanity for us being so short. …Anyway, see you in a bit, Yiggy!”
He winced.
<“…Kate, please, not in front of others…”>
Kate’s smile only widened as she turned and followed J’Ffrane with the rest of the group as they entered the building.
As they descended a set of stairs, Kate was surprised to see that despite its outer appearances, the building went several stories underground. As she descended down the first flight of stairs, a feeling of unease began to eat away at her. Her hairs began to stand on end, goosebumps rising despite the heaters inside the building.
Jack continued his explanation as they continued descending.
“The ground where this building stands was where they initially quarried out a lot of the stone necessary for building the majority of the fort’s walls and buildings back in the 1800’s. When they finished, the line of thinking was “well, we’ve made a really big hole, may as well use it for something.” So they built this commissary to act as a mega-cellar of sorts; it could store enough food to last the initial inhabitants of the fort an entire year.”
As they descended to the final level, Kate looked out across a sizable collection of boxes of various shapes and sizes stacked upon pallets. As she gazed at them, an eerie feeling of familiarity and something being inexplicably, terribly wrong settled onto her, and she only barely heard Jack continuing to speak.
“Most of the supplies that don’t belong to anyone in particular are either stored here, or wherever we can stuff them in what little free space there is left in the other buildings of the fort. Groups go out every day to scavenge for more food, general supplies, raw materials to put into your “assimilators” to make things like our filtered masks-“
150 spare air filters-
<“-as the assimilators and fabricators can only do so much at one time, we scavenge as much food as possible due to most of their time being taken up purifying the polluted water-“>
75 spare half-year water filters-
“It’s important to keep track of everything else we store here, so a lot of the work is just tallying everything up. It’s tedious, but very important; we need to know what we have to give those with very specific dietary needs-“
500 cans of spinach, 300 cans of olives, 700 cans of baked beans-
“Members of our species still have occasional issues with allergies, diabetes, that sort of thing. I’m told we likely will continue to have those for at least a decade or so before you Collective folks can develop those “immunity implants” necessary to sort them out. …Assuming the average Joe is willing to work with them, when the most advanced tech they had before was-“
3 spare radios, 50 packs of AAA batteries-
Kate only just barely managed to drag herself back to the present as she felt J’Ffrane metallic hand gently tugging at her sleeve. She turned to see them wordlessly gazing at her, a concerned expression on their face. Only after their intervention did she notice she had begun to start breathing erratically as Migtryl kept talking.
<“…Beyond moving the supplies where they need to go, the job’s not very physical. For the most part, it’s just counting how much of any one item we have and writing down the results. We usually give the job to people who are injured or otherwise not at their best, but still want to contribute.”>
Migtryl glanced over at Kate, who unbeknownst to him was having a desperate internal struggle to try and keep herself calm.
<“You’d be a perfect fit here, heh!”>
Kate sunk into herself a bit at his words, and found herself wishing she could turn invisible as the group turned to stare at her. Her voice was barely audible as she felt obligated to murmur out a response.
“…I, uh- pant …d-don’t think that- pant …would be a good idea…”
Not again, not again… Just stay cool, don’t keep hyperventilating, just move on, just- stop it. Stop stop STOP oh god why can’t I just breathe normally?! Just k-keep cool, just- …OH DON’T YOU START CRYING YOU WORTHLESS BI-
She felt the touch of J’Ffrane’s metallic hand on her shoulder, bringing her back to herself.
<“Come on, Stardust; let’s take a walk.”>
Kate hesitantly nodded and let herself be walked away from the group by J’Ffrane’s gentle leading hand, wiping her tears away as she went. Migtryl glanced at Jack, who was staring after the pair, his expression worried.
<“…Was it something I said?”>

2023.06.06 14:06 Nikittymeow416 18 Years Ago this month My friend fell 40 feet off a cliff to his death....

He actually died on June 2nd, 2006 and I was only 16 at the time. We had been drinking together at a place called the Rims and to this day we don't know if it was suicide or an accident.
At the time, a lot of people thought I pushed him, and it REALLY fucked with me because he was one of the most unique, and beautiful souls I had ever met... I loved him and looked up to him so much.
He had a lot of problems (alcohol and opiates), but was just incredible and lovely and soooo soooo one of a kind of irreplaceable... His family were just the greatest people you would ever meet too...
I still feel tremendous guilt to this day, and blame myself. (I remember screaming to get the attention of the people who lived under the cliffs. I almost might have died myself because I tried to climb down the cliff.)
Going to the police station afterwards, and eventually being told he died was just... Ugh.... (My mom was actually a night ICU nurse and knew right away because there were no trauma calls that came in)
I never got any therapy after it happened, and NGL I took a very similar path. Got hooked on opiates and drank all the time... I got sober in 2016 (my mom actually died suddenly in 2017 but that's a whole other can of worms) but yeah...
He would have been 41 today (his birthday is 06/06/1983.... His 23rd birthday in 2006 was on 06/06/06 and he had been making prophetic posts on his myspace at the time)
Anyways... I'm in a much better spot now, but for the longest time I wasn't. If you have severe trauma in your life... Get some help ASAP or you can process that grief in VERY destructive ways and ruin your life.
Jeff, I don't know where you are, but I am so sorry this happened to you and I think about you ALL the time. You were a treasure, and so many people love and miss you to this day.
Thanks for reading... I have tears streaming down my face but this was very cathartic for me and I feel better.

2023.06.06 14:05 VeterinarianDizzy956 Answer this road issue

So I live in a busier area of Brisbane. And since its been getting darker I’ve noticed a higher case of pedestrian on car accidents, way more than I saw in the middle of summer.
So I am usually a cautious walker but today I kinda snapped at someone at a road crossing. This cross is unmarked but clearly is for pedestrians and I reason I snapped is there has been an even larger uptick or drivers not paying attention to corners and I have seen people hurt.
Here’s the part I’m unsure of, I was clearly intent on crossing the road but let one car get through through and made eye contact, I then took two steps to cross fully before another car came fast around the corner trying to speed through I was luckily only one foot on the road, they wound down their window to say something but I responded first with “what the hell dude” of which they just speed off and screamed at me that I stepped in front of them. I got angry and screamed back that I was at the crossing first and flipped them off.
I’ve been told by various people that I’m was either right, or wrong. Here’s the thing usually pedestrians have right of way even at a corner, this is usually how I was taught and I’ve observed that the general flow of traffic, but since our population increase I’ve noticed that people have been screaming around corners more often without looking speeding up at pedestrian marked crossings even with people there beginning to cross. I mean 2-3 cars are speeding around and past me as I am fully on the road.
Am I really in the wrong for getting angry at people not stopping or slowing down at corners when someone clearly visible is there and obviously making a move onto the road.
As an added side note I know how long it takes a average car to pull up and start to turn these guys were going fast and not slowing at all even though I was moving and they were behind me when I was moving onto the road as I didn’t see their headlights until I was one foot on the road and had checked my peripheral right before getting on the road.

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / June 6, 2023 / Northern Superior Resources Inc. ("Northern Superior" or the "Company") (TSXV:SUP)(OTCQX:NSUPF) is pleased to report the final assay results for nine holes completed on the Falcon Gold Zone ("FGZ") on its large (20km x 15km) 100% owned Lac Surprise property, located within the Chibougamau gold camp, Québec.

Simon Marcotte, President & Chief Executive Officer of Northern Superior, commented: "The results released today from the Falcon Gold Zone reinforce the striking similarities it shares with IAMGOLD's Nelligan gold deposit, which is located only 2 kilometres to the east. Nelligan recently witnessed a 72% increase in its NI-43 101 resource estimate following an additional 22,000 meters of drilling, and now encompasses a total of 1.9 million ounces in the indicated category and 3.6 million ounces in the inferred category, using a 0.35 g/t cut off.[1] We also note that the robust thickness and remarkable vertical and lateral continuity observed in the Falcon Gold Zone emphasizes how the deposit allows for an easy conversion of near-surface gold ounces. The Company has set its sights on conducting a maiden resource estimate for the Falcon Gold Zone, subsequently to the resource estimate on the Philibert Project, which is only 9 km from the Nelligan."

(Vanstar) by SRK Consulting (Canada) Inc. (SRK).
Definition Drilling Program Confirms Grades and Widths
The Company completed 11 definition core drill holes in this program designed to test the near surface continuity and depth extension of the FGZ. All eight (8) holes reported in this release were successful in intersecting gold bearing zones highlighted by drill hole LCS-22-075 located in the central portion and near surface of the FGZ intersected 0.90 g/t Au over 59.0 metres, LCS-22-077 drilled down dip on the same easting returned 0.73 g/t Au over 61.0 metres, and hole LCS-22-073 drilled up dip on the same easting, but drilled north versus south due to the ground conditions, returned 0.82 g/t Au over 36.4 metres again highlighting the robust thickness and consistency of the FGZ (see Figure 1 and 2). Drill hole LCS-22-091 also tested the central portion of the FGZ at a vertical depth of 230 metres and returned 0.87 g/t Au over 27.4 metres. A possible new zone was also intersected further downhole in hole LCS-22-091 which returned 1.23 g/t Au over 7.5 metres and again further downhole the Épervier Zone returned 5.29 g/t Au over 2.6 meters including 17.05 g/t Au over 0.8 metres.
Drill hole LCS-22-074 located near the eastern extent of the zone and at a vertical depth of 170 metres returned 0.66 g/t Au over 22.5 metres and hole LCS-22-076 drilled 40 metres west, but near surface, returned 0.50 g/t Au over 10.0 metres for the FGZ and 0.43 g/t Au over 9.1 metres from the Footwall Zone ("FWZ"). Near the west-central portion of the FGZ hole LCS-22-072 returned 0.49 g/t Au over 40.3 metres, including 2.79 g/t Au over 3.5 metres. Drill hole LCS-22-090 tested the west side of an interpreted fault that offsets mineralization and intersected a weakly mineralized FGZ with 0.24 g/t Au over 19.0 metres.
The FGZ is associated with a silicified-sericitized greywacke host rock. It is oriented approximately east-west and dips steeply (70-80 degrees) to the south. Characteristics defining the mineralized zone include the presence of silicification, sericitization, and pyrite, traceable along the whole 900 metres of strike length and 380 metres vertical depth. Higher gold and silver grades within the FGZ are spatially associated with smoky grey quartz veins and silicification, often containing molybdenite and pyrite, enveloped within strong sericite-carbonate-pyrite alteration. Higher grade intersections are shown in Figure 1, 2 and Table 1 below, and collar locations in Appendix Table 1. The mineralization style, gold grade and thickness have strong similarities to the Nelligan Gold Zone located 2 kilometres to the east of the FGZ.
Table 1: Reported Assay Results, Falcon Zone; true width is estimated as 50-70% of the reported core length.

The Company completed 12 exploration drill holes on the Lac Surprise property to test regional targets and follow up drilling on the newly discovered mineralized trend associated with the Guercheville Deformation Zone ("GDZ"). Located north of the Falcon Zone, this broad weakly anomalous gold trend is defined by drill holes completed historically and by the Company in recent years including hole LCS-19-003ext., which returned 1.15 g/t Au over 9.5 metres. Included in this release are hole LCS-22-081 drilled 70 metres west of LCS-19-003ext which returned 1.84 g/t Au over 11.5 metres, including 18.5 g/t Au over 1.0 metre, and 80 metres to the east of LCS-19-003ext, hole LCS-22-080 which returned 0.78 g/t Au over 14.5 metres within a broader interval that returned 0.41 g/t Au over 31.9 metres (see Table 2 and Figure 3). Mineralization shows strong similarities to the FGZ mineralization including similar host rocks and structural setting.
Exploration drilling followed up on previous exploration work northeast of the Amber Showing, where a historic intersection returned 0.82 g/t Au over 11.5 metres. Three drill holes tested this trend over 350 metres along strike, with the most eastern hole LCS-22-086, returning 0.65 g/t Au over 10.5 metres, LCS-22-085 returning 0.27 g/t Au over 19 metres including 0.80 g/t Au over 4.0 metres, and LCS-22-084 returning 4.06 g/t Au over 0.5 metres and 0.47 g/t Au over 3.0 metres (see Table 2 and Figure 4). The mineralized trend is associated with deformed and altered felsic porphyry dykes within gabbro host rocks and is open along strike and down dip.
Other exploration holes intersected weakly anomalous gold values and the Company is working to integrate the new data with the already existing large geological database for future exploration targeting. Table 2 below includes highlights from the exploration drill program. See Appendix Table 1 and 2 for complete results and collar locations.

Standing Strong Through the Storm Day 74
06/02/2023

BOLD WITNESS NOT IN VAIN

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Lung Singh was a spirit worshipper and opium addict for forty-five years in the little Southeast Asian country of Laos. When he turned to Christ, he became a powerhouse for the Lord. Dr. Jan Pit shares about the day he baptized Lung Singh:
“I’ll never forget how, after coming up out of the waters, he began singing, ‘I have decided to follow Jesus,’ Then he pointed to the ripples spreading out in the water and said, ‘Brother Jan, there goes my old life. All the old things have passed away. It’s gone. Everything now is new.’
“Still soaking wet, he clambered onto the bank on the side of the famous Mekong River and knelt down. ‘Devil,’ he shouted. ‘I’ve been your servant for 45 years. Now I belong to Christ. Now I only serve him.’
“I’ve never met a man so on fire for the Lord. After I left the country in 1973, Lung Singh continued his courageous ministry. He was constantly warned by the Pathet Lao Communists to stop his preaching, but he refused.
“’I cannot do that. Jesus saved me. He did everything for me. I can’t be quiet!’”
Years later he was executed but not before impacting for good the kingdom of heaven.
Sister Wu is a leader in a house church in China. One day her home was suddenly raided by the police. She had Christian literature from abroad and it was confiscated. Sister Wu was arrested and taken to the police station. The police were cruel and abusive towards her. She was questioned overnight not only by the police but also by the head of the Religious Affairs Bureau (RAB) of the city. She bravely responded to their questions.
Just a few days after her release, the chief of the RAB’s brother was severely injured in an automobile accident and taken to the hospital. By the time Sister Wu knew about it, she went to visit this RAB chief’s brother and mother. She led them to the Lord while they were in the hospital.
Later, on another occasion, Sister Wu was holding a Christian training class in a small room of a restaurant. One of the employees decided to report the meeting to the PSB hoping to make some money because it was an illegal meeting. The matter was reported all the way to the top of the RAB, but the chief of the RAB, upon discovering that it was Sister Wu conducting the meeting, said “Oh, don’t bother her. She’s OK.” Sister Wu’s boldness was rewarded.
RESPONSE: Today I will live in the strength of Christ and fearlessly refuse to give in to my enemy, Satan’s attempts to shut down my verbal and outgoing witness.
PRAYER: Pray for boldness for all believers to share the gospel openly.

2023.06.06 14:02 Vegetable_Wear8016 Short Story - A tale that will give you an adrenaline rush

Hello ladies, this week my fictional story will leave you feeling cautious the next time you eat at a Chinese restaurant :)
The Fortune Cookie
Samuel was exhausted, it was nearly 10 p.m. and he was leaving his office. He was starving, he just wanted to eat and hit the bed. ‘What a terrible day!’ he was muttering to himself as he got into his old beat-up Renault Kwid. He had seen a Chinese restaurant nearby that opened recently and he decided trying it now would be the best option.
It was a small inexpensive-looking restaurant for quick meals. It had simple decor with traditional Chinese paintings and some random symbols of dragons splattered here and there. One bored receptionist cum cashier and only 1 waiter. It was not a place you would come to on a date.
He gave his order and started scrolling through his phone. He saw some updates of his friend travelling to Dubai for work, one of them getting married in a fancy resort in Rajasthan and one of them was working at Google and felt the need to constantly put #googleknowsbest in all his posts.
The real estate business in India was hard, there isn’t any strategy or marketing that can make you successful, it was entirely dependent on your network and getting lucky with the right client at the right time. The respect for agents was abysmal since it was not considered an elite profession and the commissions were shared between multiple parties.
You could hire a celebrity for the promotion of a project to bring in the masses but when it came down to the client writing a cheque for that booking amount, it had nothing to do with the celebrity. Those gimmicks were just enough to get them off their laptops and visit the property.
He had to constantly ensure he was at networking events or getting in touch with the businessmen of the city to source the right inventory to sell. His company was working on a budget villa project which was taking time to sell because of the location being close to a graveyard. Not many families wanted to stay close to a burial ground despite the villa’s appeal.
It was such a beautiful villa, the amenities, the location and the price, every aspect was attractive. ‘Maybe someday when I can afford it’ he thought to himself. He finished his meal and waited for the bill. He was served a fortune cookie with the bill, “Oh it’s been a long time since I have gone to a restaurant that still serves these” he said to the waiter. He opened the cookie and the message read ‘Don’t underestimate your ideas’. ‘That’s funny, I just had an argument with my manager about an idea I had which he didn’t like’ Samuel thought, he shrugged it off and paid the bill.
The next day at work, Samuel was in the cab with his Marketing Head going to a meeting regarding a residential project in the city. They were in the middle of random banter when he decided to casually mention his idea that his boss had rejected. “That’s not a bad idea at all, I think we should bring this up at today’s meeting and ask the client for their opinion,” the Marketing Head said to him. By the end of the day, Samuel was a happy man, the marketing guys for the residential project approved it and his Marketing Head gave Samuel all the credit for it in front of his boss.
A month later, it was a late night again for Samuel, he decided to hit the Chinese restaurant for dinner again. This time he was conversing with his old college friend Meera, he had recently reconnected with her over Instagram. He was about to pay the bill when he realised he had never eaten the cookie. He opened it and it read ‘Confess your love, it’s worth it’, ” Maybe I will” Samuel said aloud.
Later that night, he asked Meera out for a movie half expecting her to say that it was too soon to go on a date. The stars were aligned and she said yes. Their date turned into many dates.
One weekend, he told his best friend about the fortune cookies and that they were lucky for him. “Are you trying to say these cookies can predict your future?” “No, I’m just saying the messages have been right twice and I don’t want to lose out”. Just to humour Samuel, his best friend agreed to dine at the restaurant.
The meal was over and they were ready to open the cookies. Samuel read ‘Something dangerous lies in your path, stay cautious’ and his best friend read ‘Avoid the upcoming journey’. “What’s that supposed to mean?!” his best friend asked him looking annoyed. “I don’t know, maybe there’s some journey you are going to go on and you shouldn’t go?” Samuel responded. “I have journeys every weekend so this doesn’t make any sense!” his best friend exclaimed. His best friend’s parents lived 3 hours from the city and he used to visit them every other weekend. His best friend declared that this was a stupid activity and they agreed to disagree ultimately.
Samuel checked his entire house for any loose wiring, fire hazards, toxic chemicals, gas leaks, etc he couldn’t find anything. He even checked his car and his desk at the office, but nothing! Maybe this was a coincidence and he was taking this too seriously. It was a fortune cookie for God’s sake! It’s supposed to be for fun. He let the incident go and forgot all about it in the next few weeks.
A month later, his Goa trip planning was in full swing. Any Indian would know how the Goa plan works. You plan for months with your friends and right before the trip, the dominoes start to fall. Samuel’s manager declined his request for the leaves due to a promo event that was happening at the same time where they had roped in a huge celebrity to pretend like he loved the villa. “It’s Pratap Kapoor we’re talking about Samuel, this is no small guy,” his boss said. “Pratap has a 20,000 sq ft villa with a bonsai garden imported from Japan, he’s not relatable when it comes to endorsing a budget home” Samuel protested. “That may be true but he has a huge social media following and the fact that he may potentially own one of the villas will give customers the message that the graveyard is not an important factor” his boss stated ending the discussion. Samuel had lost the argument and the Goa trip.
He loaned his friends his car to carry on with their trip. They offered to cancel it but he insisted that they go, he didn’t want to ruin it. Besides, it was a good time to take Meera to one of those Korean restaurants she had been obsessing about.
It was when he was in the middle of eating his Bibimbap that he received the call. His friends had been in an accident on the way back home. A drunk driver rammed into them, fortunately they were not seriously injured but the car took most of the damage. “We were really lucky that the drunk guy had an equally beat-up car as yours” his best friend explained to him, Samuel’s thoughts drifted towards the message his cookie had revealed to him. This is what it was warning him from.
Over the next 5 years, it became a ritual for Samuel. He would eat at the restaurant before any big decision he had to make or if there was any big event coming up. Samuel moved to a different real estate agency which offered him a senior position, with time his commissions became better, he bought a better car, married Meera and he bought the villa near the graveyard.
“I already told you, I am not coming on that trip with your parents Meera,” he told his wife. “Just because the cookie said so?!” she asked. “Yes, the message said to exercise caution on your next endeavour and I went there just after we discussed the trip, I’m sorry but I cannot go, this is my process and you know it,” he said firmly. “You are letting these cryptic messages get the better of your logical self, it was fun in the beginning but it’s been 5 years now and you can start making your own decisions,” Meera told him, unable to believe her husband relied on luck from a cookie. “No, I trust the process and I would like to stick to it,” he said. Their fight escalated and it resulted in him staying home alone.
When Meera was away, he received a call from an unlikely source. The secretary to a local politician, politician wanted to sell his massive farmhouse on the outskirts of the city to settle some debts that occurred from his political rally. The politician had a bad reputation for solving everything with cash or brute force. But, this was a big deal, if he said no to the politician then another agent would do it and profit off it since word travelled fast in his circle.
“You can inform his assistant that we cannot take this up”. “He lost the election and his boys got into a fight as well that the media picked up so I think he’s bad news. Our agency has a certain reputation so we cannot be involved with certain types of individuals” Samuel’s CEO told him. Despite Samuel persuading him with the value of the property, the CEO refused and the matter was dropped.
Samuel decided that it was time to start doing things independently. He took on the sale of the property independently and asked the secretary to keep it discreet. He stood to make a huge commission on this, this could mean quitting his job and starting on his own so why give up the opportunity? Destiny had come knocking on his door, he couldn’t just ask her to leave.
He went to the restaurant to get a feel of his decision. While waiting for the food he called his wife to find out if she reached home safe, “So nothing weird happened during the trip?” he asked. “Nope, your fortune cookie was wrong this time. Everything went smoothly, you should have come. My parents didn’t believe you were sick, they think something’s going on with us” she told him. “Yeah, maybe I should have come,” he said relieved that the message didn’t come true. “Don’t forget to get the Kung Pao chicken and no cookie for me please?” she said ending the call. Samuel mulled over what had happened. Was it that the magic was over? For 5 years the messages had been right but not this time. Meera was back and safe.
At home, when he opened the cookie, it read ‘It’s not too late to back out’. Samuel was annoyed, this was a big deal where he stood a chance to grow his network and quit his stressful job. He went to bed and let the thought stir in his mind.
The commission he was offered was the highest he had ever been offered. Several agencies and agents were working on this property but he had the network of people who would need such a massive area, he could crack it. The decision had been made.
Over the next few months, Samuel intentionally lost a few deals so that he could dedicate extra time to the farmhouse. Fortunately, nobody suspected anything at his firm and he getting close. Finally, after 6 months of effort and negotiation, it was sold to a construction company, they were going to build a resort.
Later that year, Samuel was a richer, happier man. He was out in the world trying to be an entrepreneur when he received a call that ruined everything. The construction firm had filed a case against everyone in the land dealing stating that it was a fraudulent deal. They discovered a body in the premises hidden underground and it just happened that the exact spot was being dug up for a swimming pool. This was bad marketing for the resort. Who would bring their families to a place with a reputation for murder? The construction was stopped when the police intervened to do a complete investigation and the legal proceedings began.
Samuel started losing hair and sleep over the drastic change of events in his life. His entrepreneurship journey was falling apart and Meera and his relationship was on a steady decline. He didn’t know how to control it, he was trying to make things work both professionally and personally. Over the next few months, he tried yoga, went to church more often and travelled but, it was not enough to solve his problems. He realised the cookie had been right all along but he had gone against it. That was when he decided it was time to go back to the restaurant to get some advice. He was desperate.
He finished his meal when the waiter told him the news. “Sir, we’re shutting down this week, they sold the place to a McDonald’s franchise,” the waiter said looking ready to move on. “Sold it?! Why do you need a McDonald’s here when there’s a burger place 2 streets away?!” Samuel questioned reeling from the shock. “Sir, I don't know these things, I’m going to apply for a job when it becomes McDonald's. You have been coming here for a long time so I thought you should know that we’re closing” the waiter said clearing the table.
That was it, his final cookie in this place. He was mentally asking for it to give him some good advice on what to do next. The cookie read ‘Darkness awaits’

2023.06.06 12:55 Chemical_Sandwich818 Lesson majors!

So I have 3 weeks before my test , today my lesson was absolutely amazing, then just before it ended I nearly pulled out on a car at a roundabout, my instructor had to slam the brake on..and he went...Well there would have been your major.
I was so fucking annoyed with myself, for the first time in a while I finally thought "I've got this"...then I made a silly observation and almost caused an accident.
So in light of this to make myself feel better, I'm just wondering what mistakes have others made...in the lesson before their test or just before..and continued on to pass 🤔

2023.06.06 12:54 StringfellowHawkes Her Card, A story from an old Lodo, CO vet

I pulled her card from my lockbox today. I couldn’t bring myself to remove it from its wrapping though. I’ll explain the card in a little while. Even in just that briefest of moments though, the tears became too thick. I so wanted to see her name. Instead I decided to only go back to the memories. They bring enough tears. So I put the card back but need to tell my story of that memory. So thank you for your time in letting me indulge dear Reader. I know your time is precious and I am loquacious of a sort.
The place I used to work at a long, long time ago, Croc’s, was an odd duck. It was a Transformer of sorts. During the day and early evening it was a damn good Mexican restaurant. One of the best in town. Lunch was insane. Dinner was a respite. But on Friday, Saturdays, some Thursdays, and almost every holiday eve, it was… I don’t even have words. Nothing like what went on in those walls had been seen in Denver at the time. We had lines around blocks. The plural is not a mistake. On those nights, Croc’s was THE place to be in Denver. The owners got there before everyone else and had hit a jackpot with the place. The Rockies were starting over at Mile High and moving to LoDo soon. LoDo was booming and we were in the middle of it partying like no tomorrow every night.
But this isn’t about that amazing place, that’s for another day. Nope. This is about her, her son and I. Or rather, about loss and memories. But it all started at Croc’s and you needed to know what a breath of a moment in time we shared there. Not on one of those crazy nights but one lazy Sunday when we were pretty slow.
I mentioned the restaurant was an odd duck. See, it was designed so that from breakfast through dinner and into very early evening, it was a purposeful, full-fledged, extremely popular, and well reviewed dining establishment. But after that, it was designed so we could remove every table, chair, stool and booth. We essentially turned the whole restaurant into a giant dance floor with a bar that spanned half the distance of the long wall topped with massive tequila and booze pyramids. The wells were at either end with a plant potter behind them for storage. It was split level(ish) with a few VIP areas squirreled away. State of the art DJ booth on the south end of the bar. Oh and did I mention we had a 28 foot replica of a Nile croc suspended from the roof named “Hal”.
The owners were a group of friends who had grown up in the business. One of them was from the family that started Senior Frogs and the like down in Mexico. They had all met and worked at some of the hottest places in the state and been to some of the craziest places around the Americas. So when I say no one had seen anything like it, they hadn’t. We had a person that would blow tequila from a custom bong into a partier's mouth from 30 feet away. Our DJ’s were the best in town. We poached the absolute best in talent from every bar in a 4000 mile radius. That movie “Cocktail”? Yeah, that was this place on steroids. Hell, beside myself and 1 or 2 other guys, our security eventually turned into off duty SWAT cops. All these places around Denver and, hell, around the country you see now? Yeah these guys started it right there in LoDo.
It was the paper and crayons we would put on every table though where my memory begins.
There had been other places that had done what we did with the butcher block paper. It went on every table with crayons. It wasn’t the most innovative thing there but it was fun and the patrons enjoyed it. Many great artists out there! And of course the kids loved it. A lot of the folks who lived around there would bring their kids with them for lunch or dinner. I worked a lot of Sunday day shifts because a) everyone was hung over and never wanted to work and b) it was usually a nice bit of quiet after two nights that would make Caligula jealous. Plus the people who did come in were usually pretty cool and just out for a good meal. It was pretty chill after all that joyous chaos.
My section was usually the front lifted area just in front of the potters and a few tables in the middle. I was splitting with the other server that day since it was more dead than usual. A beautiful Colorado day back then. Blue sky with puffy clouds. Perfect temperature with no wind so the front doors to the small little patio were open. You could smell the flowers from across the street. The other server let me know she had sat a couple of people at one of my four tops. Sounded good so I headed out to say hello.
It was customary for us to write our name on the paper when we showed up. It was hokie but everyone loved it. It was our way of saying welcome and have fun! Some servers could do it upside down but I could never get the hang of that.
I headed down the bar toward the front, preoccupied with getting my marker out for the intro. I remember coming around the corner of the potter and just kind of coming to a juddering stop at the top step, tripping and almost falling on my face. Luckily she was a little preoccupied with her son and getting him situated so she missed seeing me make a gobsmacked fool out of myself.
I luckily regained what little balance I could alongside some composure quick enough to walk up and say hi. She said hi and then kind of waited. “Oh yeah dumbass” I said to myself as I told her, or rather flubbed, my name as I wrote it in the corner so they could read it right side up. She giggled a little bit as most people did with my nickname at the time. I hadn’t noticed but her son had been waiting the whole time for that moment. He grabbed his crayon and wrote his name and her name in front of them. “That’s a good name isn’t it?” I asked him. I told him it was the same as mine but the longer version. He was a little surprised by this as I went by “Scooter” back then. It took a second but he quickly realized it was a nickname. He had signed the long version of our name and said that’s what he liked. Right on man, you got it. Damn smart kid. You can tell, ya know?
After that briefest of moments, I shook myself a little and introduced myself for, I think the fourth time now. She tells me her name but it is instantly gone. Not only because of the effect this moment is having on me, but just because I am bad with names on the first go around. I don’t think we heard what either was saying anyway. Our eyes were locked and in that moment, it was all that mattered somehow. I can remember how deeply they shined. Her hair was a little damp and unkempt like someone in a hurry but has that respect for herself. Dark like her eyes but shining from the light outside. A simple blue/light purple and white striped shirt. Slightly damp around the shoulders. Worn jeans. Not the designer type but jeans aged with a good strong life. Blue canvas deck shoes with the white souls if I remember that part right. Maybe black canvas. I saw all this without ever breaking her gaze.
It was as if in the same moment we both realized we were in the same place together but not there alone. A moment later we both found ourselves apologizing for talking over the other. Sheepishly, like teens on their first date. Giggling a bit. Not knowing what was happening but knowing that something most definitely was. I apologized for the awkwardness and I think I cracked a joke or something but neither of us knew what to do. There was a calm panic and, I dare to say, a longing that was unknown?
It was her son who brought us both back to reality. He had asked if we had Coke or Pepsi. I shook myself internally again and told him we had Coke but could find some Pepsi if he really wanted it. Luckily he was not a Pepsi kid. I also told him that, yes, I would be happy to add a cherry to it. This time though when I met his eyes, I looked at myself when I was that age, as I answered that question. I hadn’t noticed it. Like a mirror as they say. Dark brown hair full of cowlicks. Round face with a big smile. Getting that cherry meant the world to him. I remembered that same feeling again through him. It was like looking at a version of myself I only saw in pictures.
At this very second in time I remember being terrified. Not “scared” terrified. It was more like, holy shite is this happening? What is going on? I wanted to turn and run and hide but somehow regained what little composure was left in that split second. I turned back to her and saw that she had just seen what I had seen. I could see wonder, joy, confusion, happiness, peace, thrill, fear and hope that I am sure were being reflected in my own eyes. We both needed a few minutes. We each could see it. It was overwhelming. Again, not a bad overwhelming but one of those moments where you need to put your hands on your knees and take some big, deep breaths.
The whole 3 or 4 minutes were surreal. And I will never forget them. I will fight as hard as I can to hold onto the others I have of both of them.
Somehow I managed to Charlie Chaplin myself away to get their drink order. I believe hers was a Sprite with a lemon. Normally I would go right around the corner of the plant potter and get the sodas from the guns there. Instead I went all the way to the back station. I needed to breathe. It seemed like an hour but I headed back. By this time the son was going to town. He had talent and it showed. It seemed like we had regained ourselves somewhat but the whole meal was kind of like an episode out of a teen comedy. We giggled, laughed, blushed, and did all the other things you would expect to see from two teenagers who discover they like each other. It wasn’t like I was trying to stay with them, or they tried to keep me there. It just kind of happened. I’d start to go away and she would ask me back for something simple. I would bring something I had forgotten in case they needed it. The whole meal went that way.
When they were done and ready to go, I was dreading it. Should I ask her out? She had mentioned she was single. It felt like I should ask her out. Like I said, the whole visit was surreal. There was no ring or even a suntan line of one (Don’t judge me, it was a different time). I wasn’t seeing anyone either. We seemed to get along amazingly, both her and her son. Even my fellow server noticed and was egging me on. It was obvious. Doing something like that with a client back then happened. Not usually in the first 30 seconds but you never know. I made up my mind to walk them out as I had no other tables and see what happened. I took the check to the table. She was packing her bag. I had gotten a refill for his togo cup and handed it to him. He said thank you and said he drew something for me. They had carefully torn it from the paper and he handed it to me. It was the three of us holding hands. How I held the tears then I do not know. I was a different person there at that precise point in time. At this moment those tears are here though.
I bent down to his level and thanked him sincerely. He said he was glad I liked it and he hugged me. I heard her try to stifle her gasp. Thank any or no gods or whoever for him. He let go, grabbed his Mom’s hand and said he was ready to go. As I stood up I could see tears welling in her eyes. He hadn’t done that to another man in, what she said, was a very long time she would tell me in a quiet voice as we started to walk toward the door. That was it. I didn’t know what to do. I hadn’t even noticed that when we got to the big double doors, he had grabbed my hand. It just was there.
By this time I do not think either of us really knew what to do or what was going on. I mean, this was an impromptu outing to a place her son had liked because of the paper. It was a cheap and good lunch and then off to wherever for them and another table for me while I rolled silverware in the back or stocked the empty quicks from the previous night. But it seemed like it had been years together but only moments, if that makes sense? I certainly did not know what to do at this point. I think I mumbled what a delight it was to be able to spend time with them and I hoped they had enjoyed themselves or something like that. I honestly could not tell you. By this time she had regained herself somewhat. That girlishness turned into an elegance, beauty and strength that I had not seen before. But those same feelings exchanged in that momentary glance were still there. As was still a bit of moisture along the bottom of her eyes. We made a bit of small talk till he got a bit antsy and wanted to head off.
As we said our goodbyes that day, almost at the same time, we asked our questions. I asked if she would like to come by again soon with her son. His birthday was coming up I think and I could get the guys in back to make him something special. At least I think that was it. Her’s was if it would be ok if they came back soon. You know because the little guy liked drawing and the food. More childish giggling and laughing. And before she left she gave me her card and said to call if I was going to be working again on a Sunday or just whenever. As they walked together, hand in hand down and around the corner, I just stared at them and then the card over and over.
That very card I put back in a safe place tonight.
She was a designer as it turned out. I didn’t pry into her past as it sounded like it wasn’t all that great at times. She came by the restaurant a few more times after that. I then called once or twice to say hi and how they were doing and to let her know to come by. Eventually she asked me out. We spent some time together and it started to get a little more serious. She was a few years older but not by much. She was driven and forthright. Quick witted and compassionate. And such a good Mom with a massive heart. I was young then, somewhat good looking, fairly well paid and worked at the hottest spot in the state. And I had this woman I couldn’t get out of my head. Even my coworkers knew and could see what was going on whenever we were together. Either just the two of us or all three of us. Walking on clouds was an apt statement. At this point I want to point out that while I am no saint whatsoever, I do consider myself a decent person. At least I was back then and for the most part today. Things have changed as they always do but I digress.
Eventually the moment came. The serious date. She had a small but fantastic apartment downtown and wanted to make me dinner for once. I don’t think she was done asking before I said yes. We set a date for later that week. I remember it was a Saturday because me taking a night off from that place, with all its amazing moments each night to the amount of money you walked out with each night to leaving one of the other bouncers with one of the other guys he wasn’t used to, was a pretty big deal. Had to call in favors but everyone just said go. No one there batted an eye. They all seemed to know what a big deal this was somehow.
We set it for a little later in the evening so I could get things in proper working fashion up front of the house and then head over. Any of you who have worked in a restaurant know that smell you get. Kind of need to have worked in that environment to know I guess. So that night, I didn’t have time to head home then come back. So I had a change of clothes and a vanity bag so I could clean up in the back. Wouldn’t be the first time I got sprayed down by the dishwasher but probably a first for this reason. Cleaned up pretty well, freshly shaved and quaffed, walking so far above Cloud 9 I lost track of which one I was on. Headed out to put the work kit and bag in the truck. On the way out a few who knew what had been going on smiled or waved.
And off I went. I was a little late but she said she had expected it given the night of the week. Back then, downtown Denver was different. Colorado was different. I guess everywhere was different back then. But in this instance, I mean in an architectural way. You didn’t have the towers all around LoDo as you do now. From some rooftops you could still watch a sunset over the mountains. Say what you will, even I have to admit that a purple and orange sunset over the mountains is quite possibly the most beautiful natural thing I have seen. It is immense but oh so fleeting. Just like our lives I guess. You could still hear birds and bugs over cars at times. I wouldn’t say it was peaceful but it was at least calm?
She was lucky as her apartment, though smallish, came with a hidden bonus. Her window allowed her to access the roof on the next building. A part of it anyway. But this little slice of hidden wonder allowed a view down Market Street, across Spear, over Auraria and then the mountain view. It was stunning. Like the apartment, the space was just cozy enough for two to enjoy a little rooftop barbeque and dining. She gave me the quick tour and we poured some wine. She was going through the menu as we “headed outside”. The door was a small little window. I remember scratching my head and thinking I may not fit out there. She handled it with the grace of a ballerina and said I could do it. It took a minute or two but I contorted my clumsy self outside. And she was right. It was spectacular.
Not just the view but what she had done with her little corner of peace. She had talked with the building owner who agreed that she could use this space as he didn't even know about it. It was like something out of a commercial today. A nice little seating couch type niche. Well built trellis with some small Christmas lights for effect. A little brick grilling area with a hibachi going. I can still smell it. The table with candles and dinnerware. Decking. I was taken aback. The way it was situated insulated her from the sounds down below. You could hear them but it was almost like distant white noise. It was just peaceful. I remember remarking about this. She said she discovered it by accident when her son thought it might be a good play area.
Dinner was wonderful. The night went on. There wasn’t a sense of time. Just us there in that little part of the universe that was only hers. To this day I do not think I felt that safe before anywhere nor since. Someone was letting me into one of their most sacred spots. Literally and figuratively. I felt privileged. Almost as though I was treading somewhere I shouldn’t be. I think that thought was my downfall however. Don’t worry dear Reader, you will understand all that very soon. We watched that sunset. It was perfect. The right contrast of colors. Just the right amount of clouds to change those colors ever so slightly. A reminder of how something can change for the simplest of reasons.
As night grew darker it started to get cold. The goosebumps we were feeling on each other's skin holding hands and looking at the stars weren’t just from feelings. It was getting cool so we moved inside. After safely dousing the grill and making sure the coals were in their proper place, we cleaned up. Since it was easier, I stayed outside and handed them into the house to her. We figured it would be safer for the dishes. Giggled some more as we came to realize more and more things about each other at the same time. Finally the outside was clear. I stood outside for another minute to take in what was happening. I think that is then that little bit of fear weeded its way in without my realizing it. This was as close to perfect as I could ever dream I thought.
After squeezing back inside, assisted again but ok with that, we cleaned up the dishes and opened another bottle of wine. The inside was just as cozy. At some point she had lit some more candles and had some soft music going. Light jazz if I remember. Not loud at all. Again, there, just outside the periphery. Sitting on the couch I can feel her sitting next to me. We are close. Two people holding each other wanting to believe but not sure if this is real. There was almost a vibration. The constant goosebumps were not because of the cold anymore. Once we were both comfortable and we just talked. For hours and hours. There were the intimate moments but nothing scandalous. A tenuous kiss from one to the other.
We talked about what two people talk about who truly want to know the other. I believe we asked as many honest questions of ourselves as we did of the other. We really, truly, wholly wanted to know each other. And that is what we did. The more we talked the more comfortable we felt. Each of us had our scars that were not easily revealed. Nor did we reveal all of them that night and guarded them well. But we each wanted to know if the other was someone we could trust with those deepest places that we all hide in the darkest parts of our soul.
We talked a little about her son’s father but not in depth. It was easy to see that was one of the scars. We talked about her son. Why she was so astonished that first day. My heart wrenches this very moment dear Reader upon remembering that. Her hopes for him. His likes and his dislikes. Some of the stories parents tell others to embarrass their children later in life. We talked about what futures there could be not for us but for him and his world. He really was an amazing kid and I am sure has grown up to be someone she can be proud of. Time did not exist that night. Feelings and thoughts were exchanged that did not need to be said. We just knew each other that night.
We never did finish the second bottle if memory serves, we talked, laughed and sat together in peaceful comfort and gave no care about anything else. But tomorrow was coming as it always does and we had to leave each other. I remember the closeness as we held each other. The pressure of two bodies at that singular moment in time. That one instant that feels as though it could last through infinity. When two become one and feel the safety, love, compassion, trust and sameness that is rarely, if ever experienced.
Pardon me dear Reader but must ask a moment to compose myself. We are getting close to the end of my tale so also ask for just a bit more of your time. I know how so very precious it is. Thank you for allowing me to continue.
I do not know how long we held each other. To this day I wish it had been so much longer however. I do remember leaving. Working where I did, I was sadly but actively very familiar with many different levels and types of inebriation. That feeling that morning however was something that surpassed all that I had experienced in my life. I had never felt like this. I knew that the sun was starting to come up as I parked my car. I knew that I got through the door, downstairs and then fell asleep. I wasn’t drunk. It was pure. A pure love, happiness, joy and trust I had never felt from someone else. This feeling was so powerful it had knocked me for a loop that I just was not ready for.
I awoke later that day, thankful I didn’t have to work. It was late in the afternoon and I felt like I had been hit by a bus but didn’t care. I believe that the night before we both had excised many things that we had held inside for so long. I could (and can) still remember the whole night if not the words. I felt like one does after you give everything physically possible to something and have nothing left to give. But it felt right. Regardless of the ending, I do believe that, even though brief, that night, two people who had needed to find each other did. I think they needed to know that there was at least one person who understood, even if they hadn’t needed to actually say anything.
Now dear Reader I must ask you to remember that part about fear. Given my early life and life up to that point and to this day, I do find it very hard to trust. So this was something I had to confront. And so I started to. Instead of seeing what she saw in me, I saw the things I thought were ugly. I got scared that those scars would be peeled away and she would be repulsed. And these thoughts and fears grew. We still saw each other and talked for a while after that night. But my fear took over quickly. Before I knew it I had driven her away. There was no maliciousness about it. The thoughts that had ruled my life for so long before her and then after her, to this day, always got to the same thing. If you let her in, she will leave because of who you are. It was idiotic but it was ingrained at this point. I eventually told her I didn’t think it was going to work out. The truth was that I was scared. Scared to let her in. I hated myself for not being honest with her. She would have understood. Probably more than any other.
After that, I went on with my life as a young person does in that atmosphere. I saw her one time after that final talk. She waved as she and her son sat in a section away from mine. I waved back and remembered going out back and beating the hell out of our cooler there. I was so mad at myself then. While the anger passed as life threw one thing at me after another as it does until I find myself here today writing this, the pain of losing her has never healed. Nor do I want it to. That pain also brings memories that I so rarely experience anymore. I buried it for a long, long, long time but recently I find myself thinking about her and her son more and more. What would have been?
For you see dear Reader, that moment was my perfect chance. Not long ago in my life I was diagnosed with cancer. I eventually beat it but it has long since ruined my life. But that is not why I tell this tale. I ask for no sympathy. My life is where I am supposed to be. I have come to peace with that. To an extent I guess anyway. The reason it was my perfect chance is this. I was also diagnosed with a genetic defect which essentially makes me a cancer producer with no natural way to fight it. My mothers father died of colon and pancreatic cancer. My Mother has beaten 5 different bouts of cancer. I have been tested and confirmed. So if I had had a child, I would more than likely have passed that to them. After listening to what my mother watched her father go through. After watching my own Mother fight this monster 5 times and win each time. After all that I was horrified to learn that I could have passed this monster to someone I would have loved with all my heart.
I never married and never had a child. For most of my life I regretted that most of all to the point of shame. I am the last person in my familial lineage that will ever carry my name. My line dies with me. For the longest time that has been a great burden. However, after the geneticist confirmed me and a great deal of internal contemplation, with the aid of hindsight, part of me is glad that I never had a wife and child who would have to go through the horrors I have heard about, watched and gone through first hand and personally. That at least brings me a modicum of inner peace. Do not be fooled ever though. This monster is evil. It takes everything from all but the luckiest.
And I had my moment of perfect chance. Even though I did not know it at the time, I had an opportunity to spend the rest of my life with two someones who I truly believe to this day, loved me. Even if for so very briefly. I gave up the chance to be able to be a husband and care for someone I believe I loved and loved me. I had a chance to be the father I wanted to be without passing on my monster. To see a child grow into their best self. I get angry at times that I did this. Not necessarily my own selfish needs. I am also mad that this person trusted me and I couldn’t do the same in the end. That I let a child down who for his own reasons let me in when he shut others out. That we could have been the family we could have been. And I ran because I was scared. I can never forgive myself for doing that to them. This may sound selfish and perhaps it is but it is my history.
And now dear Reader we come to the end of my tale. Where it all began.
Her card.
I think you will understand why I put it away instead of taking it out after this. I mentioned that she was a designer. Her card is exquisite. I don’t need to see it to describe it. There is a silver cord ribbon wrapped around a waxed paper tied in a bow. It sparkles silver but is brittle after all the years. I can slide the card out carefully but don’t want to take a chance of damaging it. My hands aren’t the best anymore. The writing on the card is done with a most excellent penmanship in purple over white with black. The backing is white with the black used as border highlighting with purple as the border and main color. There is a bit of sparkle in one of the purples but not a garish amount. Just enough to catch the eye. The back is similar with details of her work at the time as well as some contact information. I don’t know if she did this on all of them, but there was a scent of her perfume that accompanied it for a while. It, like much else, has faded.
We all have a place to keep our most precious items. This one rarely leaves that place for me.
So in the really bad times dear Reader, I try to look at that card. I say try because it is very painful to try to do so. Today was one of those days and I wanted to share it. In the end I couldn’t get past the tears to look at it so returned it to its safety. Not really because of the pain. Believe me, the pain is there in vast amounts. But because of that first moment. I needed to remember what that feeling was like. I needed to remember what it is to look in another's eyes and see the whole universe and all its infinite possibilities. Some regrets, regardless of time, will always follow you. Be honest about that with yourself dear Reader. Today I needed to remember her and him. I needed that acceptance. That peace. That joy, That trust. That love.
This time however I needed to commit this to our history so that perhaps at least one other will read it and maybe it will impact somehow. This is not meant to be a moralistic tale. It is just a tale of love lost. A life that could have been different. I hope, dear Reader, that your life is filled with wonder and love. Do not miss a single chance in your life because of fear. Be cautious but be open. Your world is massive but also miniscule. The chances don’t happen often anymore so grab them and hold onto them when you can. Try to think of all possibilities and look through others' eyes. But most importantly. If you do find your perfect moment, do not let it go dear Reader. It may never come again.
That is the end of my tale. I thank you so much dear Reader. As I have said many times, your time is precious and I have taken enough. Safe journeys to you my friend.

2023.06.06 12:53 Wal11682 Autism signs

My 22 month old son has a lot of red flags for ASD. We are getting him tested in a few weeks but the waiting game is driving my wife (8 months pregnant) and I insane. I know I shouldn’t Google but its difficult not to, and everything seems to be a sign for autism.
I know autism is a spectrum and not one kid is the same. My big thing is when he was first evaluated by an Early Intervention team a month ago the red flags were worse. He is speech delayed where he probably only had 10 words during the evaluation, where a month later he probably has close to 50. He also wasn’t pointing much then, but all of a sudden he began pointing at everything. The other red flags are he handflaps when excited, has extreme tantrums (headbangs, but I feel like all toddlers have bad tantrums) and my wife says he doesn’t respond to his name 100% of the time. I’d say its close to 75%. He has great joint attention, does pretend play, looks you in the eye and is learning new words every day. If you just did a quick eye test you would not think he had it. He also scored average on receptive language from his speech therapist. But the tantrums and whining are killing me, I’m hoping its his limited vocabulary that are causing these.
I don’t think he has it, but am afraid it seems like Autism is the new ADD and he might get diagnosed for it today for something that wouldn’t qualify 10-20 years ago, which maybe is a good thing because he can get help with his behavior and speech but the stigma of autism will also have us thinking the worst (i’m sorry if that is insensitive, I don’t mean it that way). Our number one concern would be that because our son has it, chances of our unborn daughter getting it are 20x, and we’d also have to think about having future children. I hope doctors are thinking about this when they do label a kid for autism who might just have ADHD or something.
I’m not sure what I’m looking for on here as obviously nobody can make a diagnosis over reddit but sometimes its comforting to hear other people experiences.

2023.06.06 12:51 AbyssinianHornbill Minute by Minute Tracker: Fidelity and IBKR Short Shares Available (2023-06-06)

This table will automatically update whenever there is a change to GME available shares or borrow fee as reported in either Fidelity Active Trader Pro (checked every minute) or as reported by IBKR (every 15 minutes). Fidelity's borrow rate has typically moved less frequently than iBrokers. The bot will run from about 6:45am to about 4:45pm each day. This bot is provided for entertainment purposes only and should not be used for investment decisions -- it is likely to have errors/mistakes. I'm looking forward to a ruckus today (and everyday)!
Also, I created a website! You can find data from today, the rest of the month, and last month at www.wtctb.com (what's the cost to borrow). Feedback welcome!
Final note: this tracker and website will be down from May 15-26 as I'll be traveling internationally and won't be able to start the script.

2023.06.06 12:37 boutell New US CHAdeMO chargers in May 2023

Here are all of the new US CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
There were 124 "new" CHAdeMOs added in May. To put it in perspective, there were 112 CCS chargers added in April. I think the pace of CHAdeMO rollout has stabilized, while the pace of CCS rollout is still increasing. This makes sense given that only Nissan still makes a CHAdeMO car.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
We all know that CHAdeMO is a legacy format and will eventually go away, but clearly Nissan and their partners are continuing to support it for the time being. This shouldn't be surprising. After all, you can still buy a new Leaf.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or reading these monthly reports is just frustrating in your state, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications only when new stations actually open. You can sign up at evpov.com. I built it to help EV owners like myself (especially my fellow Leaf owners). You can pick other plug types as well.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

2023.06.06 12:32 boutell New US CCS chargers report for May 2023

Here are all of the new US CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in May 2023, according to the Department of Energy. These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
  1. Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
  2. Leaf owners like me, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive a Leaf, or an older CHAdeMO car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 222 CCS charge points added or refreshed in May 2023, which is up from 171 in April. For comparison, there were only 74 new CCS charge points in May 2022. Things are speeding up.
"What about CCS charging at Tesla superchargers?" Tesla is in the process of rolling out their "magic dock" for non-Tesla cars, but so far in very few locations. If they start doing this at scale and reporting it to the Alternative Fuels Data Center then it will be reflected here.
"What about Ford vehicles with NACS (Tesla) plugs?" They are not on sale yet. Current-generation Ford vehicles have CCS plugs. The next generation will have NACS (Tesla) plugs, but will also support CCS via an adapter.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

2023.06.06 12:17 Emergency-Nebula5005 [Complete] [65,000] [Cosy Murder/mystery] A Tinker with Death

Hello fellow readers and writers :)
Is anyone up for a beta read of a small coastal town cosy? Tagline: As dark family secrets are uncovered, old passions and hatreds are reawakened. And someone is willing to kill to keep the truth buried.
Blurb: Jill never expected to inherit a farm from a grandfather she barely knew, but life is full of surprises. At first, it seems like a dream come true: a chance to escape the city, and start anew on the picturesque South East English coast. Urged on by her adult daughter, Jill makes a leap of faith, determined to make the most of this fantastic change of fortune.
But dreams can turn into nightmares in the blink of an eye.
After a furious row with her ex-fiancé, Leo, followed by a sleepless night, Jill glimpses a mysterious woman flitting around the farmyard. Following the wraith through fields and woodlands, Jill reaches a waterfall, slips and almost drowns – in the same spot where her mother drowned, thirty-odd years ago. It’s all downhill from there, when the farm burns down and Leo turns up dead.
Suddenly, Jill finds herself caught up in a web of intrigue and murder. Lurking among the neighbours and family who welcomed her back to her childhood home, is a killer. No longer certain who she can trust, but certain that her mother’s death was not the accident it seemed, Jill must solve the mystery of her mother’s death, if she is to survive and carve herself a new life in the not-so peaceful countryside.
Excerpt: (This is Chapter 3; Yesterday, Jill received a mysterious letter from a solicitor, decided it could only be bad news, and promptly shoved it in a drawer).
TW. Mild bad language, reference to a police officer finding cannabis.
CHAPTER THREE
From downstairs crockery rattled; a female voice on the radio croaked about the joys of being lost in France. My daughter’s more dulcet tones drowned out the chorus with her own ‘Oh-la-la-las.’ Groaning, I rolled out of bed, then remembered it was the first of February today – I’d made it through January – at last!
Minutes later seated at the kitchen table, I stared with bleary eyed envy at the fruit of my womb. Oh, to be young again! Sophie’s light blonde hair was pulled back in a high pony tail, her clear green eyes sparkled, her cheeks glowed with health. Talk about bushy haired, bright eyed and eager to greet the day. Out-loud I said, ‘What time did you get in last night?’ ‘Oh don’t!’ Sophie rambled on about stopping someone for speeding, only to find the driver was disqualified and driving around with enough weed to be classified as a dealer. ‘Wouldn’t you think they’d at least stick to the speed limit? I mean! And it was ten minutes from dismissal. Instead I had to find a custody cell and start a report. This new system’s horrendous. It takes forever to load! In the writing room … oh, that reminds me. I need a couple of pens.’ She jumped up to rummage through kitchen drawers, still chattering on: ‘In the entire writing room, only one terminal in ten connects to our tablets …’ her voice trailed away. A drawer slammed shut. ‘Mum, what’s this?’ She pointed the envelope towards me as though it were a warrant. I squinted, then waved it away. ‘Nothing. Nothing to do with you.’
‘It’s from a solicitor.’
‘I know.’
‘A solicitor in Sussex.’ She slapped the envelope onto the table, directly in front of me.
I stifled a yawn. ‘I know. Any chance of a cuppa?’
‘Don’t change the subject.’ She folded her arms. ‘It’s something to do with your granddad isn’t it?’ The old bastard who’d rehomed me like an unwanted puppy after my mum’s death. I smiled grimly, pushed back from the table and nudged at Sophie to step away from the worktop where the kettle lived. Knowing as soon as my back was turned, she’d pounce on the envelope. ‘So he’s finally kicked the bucket. He’s probably left me some hideous knick-knacks. I’m not interested.’ Amazingly, my hand didn’t shake as I poured boiling water into the mugs; then hurriedly added a tea-bag to each. I glanced over my shoulder, hoping Sophie hadn’t noticed my senior moment. She wouldn’t have noticed if an elephant had waltzed in and demanded breakfast. The torn envelope was on the table, the letter in Sophie’s hand. Good. She could deal with whatever it was the solicitor wanted. Or give me a synopsis. I slopped the tea-bags into the sink and reached for the biscuit barrel. ‘Mum … mum …’ Sophie’s voice sounded hollow, as though summoned from the bottom of her stomach. I turned; she clutched the letter in one hand, the other clutched, white knuckled at the table. Oh lawd, the old man had died and somehow saddled me with all his debts. ‘What is it? What’s wrong?’ I demanded. Wide eyes fixed on me, Sophie whispered, ‘He’s left you everything. Lower Beechcroft Farm, outbuildings, land, fishing rights, it’s all yours. You’re a property millionaire.’ I stumbled over to the nearest chair, missed the seat and went sprawling to the floor. ‘Mum!’ Sophie crouched beside me, while I shook my head in disbelief. Unexpected tears stung against my cheeks. No more pretending to care about the displays of cheese at Fresh Fields … I can sign this house over to Sophie, maybe even pay off the remainder mortgage. Things seemed to be getting serious between her and Robert … most likely he’d move in, but that was none of my business … Reading from the same hymn sheet, Sophie sang, ‘No more crappy jobs for you, you’ll be lady of the manor, have a few paying guests, a few cream teas…’ ‘Wine evenings!’ I corrected and suddenly we were laughing through the tears, hugging each other tightly. At that moment, a voice echoed from the hallway. ‘What’s wrong? Has someone died?’
Sophie recovered first. ‘Hi Uncle Leo – no … well, yes, but no-one we really knew.’ Grasping Sophie’s arm I hauled myself up with a warning squeeze and an urgent shake of my head to say keep quiet. ‘Leo. What do you want?’ I stared accusingly at my ex-fiancé. Long ago, back in the dark ages, we’d been briefly engaged. By brief, I mean blink and you’d miss it. Part of his charm had been the easy going friendship he’d formed with a then fourteen year old Sophie – she’d started calling him ‘Uncle’ off her own bat. As for the other part of his charm … that would be the easy going friendship he formed with other women. Neat crew cut hair, twinkly blue eyes and a talent for making knock-off gear from the local market look like designer clobber, Leo had a lot going for him. And he was right – I couldn’t blame him if other women found him irresistible. What I did blame him for was his inability to resist sleeping with them – in my bed – on my sheets! At first I wanted to kill him. But that was long ago. These days, I tolerated him, because to give the devil his due, he’s always been decent to Sophie. ‘Wow, that’s not very welcoming. I can drop by to see the most beautiful girl in the world, can’t I?’ He grinned, hitched a buttock onto the table, and corrected himself, ‘The two most beautiful girls in the world.’ He did look good, in a pale pink shirt, grey blazer and faded denim jeans. But I hardened my heart. ‘It’s my house, Leo. You don’t just walk in.’ Sophie shot me a half-pleading, half-warning look. ‘I’ve got a court appearance today. Uncle Leo wanted to use the car, so he said he’d drive me into court, and pick me up.’ The car was in Sophie’s name – but Leo had put the money for it up front – so I could hardly say anything. ‘Well, he should at least knock.’ ‘Yes, mum. Sorry, mum. Can you wait outside, Uncle Leo? I’ll be ten minutes.’ She rushed for the stairs and thundered up to her room.
Making no move to haul his arse off the table, Leo swung his leg and smiled at me. ‘If you’re trying to get your feet back under my table, forget it!’ I said crossly, and felt even crosser when he laughed. Trying to ignore him, I slammed around the kitchen, pulling out a Tupperware pre-packed with sandwiches from the fridge and adding a banana, before making fresh coffee for Sophie to take – Neasden magistrates’ courts didn’t have a café, only vending machines. ‘Tea for me. Two sugars,’ Leo quipped. ‘You were told to wait outside.’ ‘Jill, don’t be like this.’ Settling back further on the table, he twisted his head to peer at the opened post. ‘Off the table.’ I folded the all-important letter back into the envelope. ‘Hmm, solicitors, eh? Who have you pissed off now? And why were you on the floor, crying?’ Laughing, and any tears were tears of joy. ‘Off the table, for the last time!’ I snapped. The coffee perked; I decanted it into a travel mug, and added, ‘If you must know, I’ve got the sack. So I’m broke.’ Hands on hips, I taunted, ‘Can you lend me two hundred quid?’ We glared at each other. Sophie walked in, breaking the tension, 'Mum? Uncle Leo?' With a quick smile for Sophie, who looked so smart and official in her best uniform, I handed over the lunchbox and travel mug, ‘Knock ‘em dead. Take care.’ Sophie kissed my forehead, 'Thanks, Mum. It’s all on body-worn and I’ve made the case watertight. This guy’s an idiot trying his luck. Anyhow, I'll call you later.’ That meant Sophie was staying over at Robert's tonight. I forced a tight smile and nodded. Puckering his lips, Leo leaned in for a kiss. I turned away. He chuckled and followed Sophie into the lounge. The front door slammed shut; a childish parting shot from my ex-fiancé. 'Arsehole,' I muttered.
With the house to myself, I examined the letter – twice. It looked kosher. If it was a joke, I was about to find out. Pen and paper ready, I tapped the solicitor’s number into my phone, took a deep breath, and pressed dial.

Why Do You Need a Mobile VPN?

Before we delve into the top mobile VPN services, let's first understand why you need a VPN for your mobile device. In today's interconnected world, where we rely heavily on smartphones and tablets, our online activities are constantly exposed to various threats. A mobile VPN, or Virtual Private Network, can provide you with the following benefits:
  1. Enhanced Security: A mobile VPN encrypts your internet traffic, ensuring that your sensitive information remains secure and protected from prying eyes, such as hackers and cybercriminals.
  2. Privacy Protection: By masking your IP address and routing your internet connection through a secure server, a mobile VPN safeguards your privacy, preventing websites and online services from tracking your online activities.
  3. Bypassing Geo-restrictions: Many streaming services and websites impose geo-restrictions, limiting access to specific regions. A mobile VPN allows you to bypass these restrictions, giving you access to a broader range of content while you're on the go.
  4. Public Wi-Fi Security: Public Wi-Fi networks are often insecure, making them prime targets for hackers. A mobile VPN ensures that your data is encrypted, even when connected to unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots, providing an extra layer of security.
Now that we understand the importance of a mobile VPN let's explore the top VPN services that can offer you the best protection for your mobile device.

2023.06.06 12:00 frugalfetus Help! Brakes Locked up while driving?

Today I was driving my car (2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart) and sped up to around 75 mph and went to push the brakes and the pedal was super hard and wouldn't depress, after panicking a bit I kicked it a bit and the car banked super hard to the left and then went back to normal. For the rest of my ride home I didn't notice anything else and the brakes were fine no lockups or weird feeling in the pedals. I had to drive to work again today and again, no real problems at all, but I did notice that if I go above the 75mph the brake pedal gets hard and it locks up, but upon lowering speed to anything below 75mph, it goes back to normal. I'm not sure why this is happening, and any advice or help is more than welcome and helpful. (Also yes I stopped driving the car after the last 2 days, I know it's not safe to be driving with faulty brakes. But I didn't really have a choice.)

2023.06.06 11:35 RabbitLady29 My boyfriened "cheated" and I'm not even mad.

Throw away Account because my boyfriwnd has reddit. Furthermore english is not my first language, so please bear with me.
I (26f) am 9 month pregnant and just found out my boyfriend of 2 years ( 32m) has been flirting online with other women. 3 month ago he meet this one women who he was writing with since march. He was gone one night on a work event. He meet her there.
When I asked him today he told me that nothing happend. He missed me too much and said it was not worth it. He just wanted to know if he can say no. Even IF thats true, he took another women with him. Sleept in the same hotel room and they spend the day together. And I was home. Recovering from an car accident ( nothing serious. Just shock) and 6/7 month pregnant. I found the chat. He told her how beautiful she is. That its been a while for him to be intimate with someone else ( not true. We have sex almost every day). That he wants to visit her and bang her senseless. That he wants to meet her to figure out if there could be more to it than just lust.
I dont know what to do. I dont trust him. He told me that he wanted to tell me everything when he would have proposed this moth. But i was faster. I figured it out. He told me everything in the last half year was stressfull and this was his way to figure out what he really wants. He never was fan of an monogam relationship and he needs to learn how to do it. But he wants me. He just told the women that it is over, he showed me the message.
I am really sad. Not even mad. I am tired. I dont know what to do.

Gallipoli-Taranto 🇮🇹
Yesterday i blasted 90kms under 4 hours, first day i rode without bigger breaks. Also this time i didn’t pass many things to checkout, that helped for sure. The constant side wind did not :)
Reaching the sea just feels different to reaching any town in the country side. Camped at a super antique looking camp site but was cheap at least 12€.
Now i wanted to train ride from Taranto to Napoli but reaching the station i was told no train but bus again. Sigh, bike crammed into the luggage space of the bus but luckily there was a „bike department“ so i am still on the bus, hoping nothing happens to it.
today already close to 2 accidents, first one me getting a coffee around the corner, riding down a straight bridge, all of a sudden a white van left of me decided to pull sharp right and only my reflex n disc brakes saved me from fully getting run over- it felt like slowMo that the whole car just missed my front wheel by 2cms and i could count the scratches of the car while items passing me in front of my face. And that was when i decided for 5min coffee ride not to put my helmet on.
Second incident: our bus nearly crashed into a truck, because the truck driver was so involved in a phone call. I better walk with helmet on today!
And today is my chill day….
