I've always been terrible about brushing my teeth twice a day. I used to brush every morning but then wouldn't bother at night. My partner, thankfully, got me to switch it around a few years ago to brushing every night instead. That way, I wouldn't be leaving plaque on my teeth while I slept. Something I'd never even thought about but now I don't usually wake up with bad breath, which is nice.
I have managed to get myself to the point where every morning, I am able to get myself to swill with mouthwash. It's still something I have to make myself do, but it's now become an everyday thing.
This morning, while using mouth wash, my hand reached over and picked up my toothbrush without me thinking about doing it. When I realised what I'd done, I stood there confused about what time of day it was and almost put it back! But I didn't, I brushed my teeth instead!
AH!
I can't believe how happy this has made me. Starting off the day with a win!

Hi all,
Was looking to book a trip in early 2024 to Tokyo from Melbourne. Seeing as how competitive reward seats have become over the last 12 months, I have been doing a fair bit of searching on the Qantas booking tool. However, I keep getting strange reward seat combinations that don't make sense.
For example, Flying out of Melbourne on May 4th 2024 I can book an economy reward seat for 45,000 points and $180 which is a Qantas flight from Melbourne to Sydney in the evening, then a JAL flight direct from Sydney to Tokyo the next morning at 8.15am. But if I change my search criteria to fly out of Sydney on the Saturday 5th May to Tokyo it does not give me the reward seat with JAL. Is there a reason for this? Was hoping to just book a different domestic flight that lines up better with the JAL flight.
Edit: Additionally, when I do search Sydney -> Tokyo it gives me a Qantas flight to Melbourne that then flys direct to Tokyo. So it is forcing me to take a QAS flight domestically every time before a direct flight to Tokyo via JAL

My Mom was a beautiful woman and loved us kids unconditionally. When Trump lost the election, there was almost an instant switch in her. She was quiet and sullen for days and even weeks. Then she started to come out of her shell a little. It just started with a remark here and there about Trump coming back or there is a drop happening that day or she only used an internet source called duck (I believe that's what it was called) or whatever from a vilified source. No one knew what the actual hell she talking about but we just let her have it as it seemed to be making her come alive again.
Then, two years later and it just kept getting worse to the point that I did not have hardly a relationship with her and I lived in the same house as her. It became harder and harder for me to want to come home. One night, my mom had covid and she said she had a headache and we told her to get some sleep. My Mom went to sleep and in the morning when we tried to wake her hours after we knew it was odd for her to still be asleep, she wasn't waking but still breathing. She had an embolism that hit her cerebral cortex and it was a matter of time before she just stopped breathing.
I feel the upmost extreme guilt for not continuing a real relationship or explaining my feelings or really trying to do anything to help her with her mental state. I didn't know anything about this QAnon until months after she passed away. All I can say now is absolutely fuck every one of those people for turning my mother into someone who was becoming steadily unstable. I had a fear at times she was becoming too extreme and I felt like something COULD happen but never believed she would take it that far. At this point, I'm almost relieved she had passed when she did as she didn't have to see all this dumb bullshit with Trump and listening to even more conspiracies. I'm so hurt and upset that I couldn't fully love my mother in those last two years and how she wasn't the same person anymore. I just wanted my Mom but instead we had these fucks ruining everything. All I can do now is vent and turn my anger towards those invested and spreading hatred with QAnon and the ones mixing religion and these extreme political views together. Isn't religion supposed to be about love? Why the hell was this pastor Mom listened to talking about how everyone that didn't vote for Trump is evil and vile and should be eliminated from Earth?
I loathe you, false prophets and QAnon for destroying a beautiful person's mentality and tearing this family apart. I cannot explain the hatred I feel towards this cult. Fuck you.

I recently finished drafting a new fic and was talking about the plot with a fandom mutual. When I mentioned to her that the inciting incident was a shot gun wedding she was confused over what exactly that was. I thought that it was a common saying and was planning to use that as one of the main tags. Was it just her or do a lot of people not know what that means?
And if so, is there a better tag to use? I’m not quite ready to start posting yet but I thought I’d ask now before I got to the tagging point.
Basically it’s an Omegaverse historical AU, character A runs away from an arranged wedding and hides in a random barn while trying to escape the rain not knowing that their old childhood friend (character B) that they’d lost contact with owned the property. B finds A in the morning and offers them help but then A’s brother (who had come after A) finds them alone together and assumes that A was now without virtue and therefore “ruined” and in his anger forces them to marry through various threats, acts of violence and a gun to their heads - hence, shot-gun wedding. I was already considering tagging it ‘marriage of convenience’ but that has more to to with them staying married and not getting an annulment as they didn’t exactly marry for convenience (unless you count the convenience of staying alive). Forced marriage may work but in my mind that more ‘arranged marriages one or both of them aren’t cool with’ and I wanted something more specific to married at gun point as a trope.
Another friend of mine brought up that ‘shot-gun wedding’ outside of fiction to them meant being forced to marry because of a pregnancy (genuinely by an angry dad) and didn’t necessarily involve actual violence. I knew that could be classified as a shot-gun wedding but I didn’t think that was the whole of it. I’ve seen (my definition) of a shot-gun wedding used as a trope in a lot of published historical romance (eg. violence/suspicion over lack of virginity/no pregnancy) so if that’s not what the tropes called does anyone know what it is called, as I don’t want people thinking this is a pregnancy fic either?
Anyway, is there a better tag than shot-gun wedding or is that good? Majorly overthinking this but now it’s too late and I’m questioning everything.

Hey all.. I'm a new GM, who literally wants all the hours. This leads to me either working Open to Close in one store, or opening one and leaving to go close another. I'm on my feet, up and moving around from about 8am to around 2am, every single day (like shoes on in the morning to shoes off at night).
And my feet are KILLING me. Big surprise, I know 🤣.
I've been battling this by changing my shoes a few (like 2 or 3) times a day. At this point my trunk is really just shoe storage... To be real, I'm kinda over my feet hurting, and in turn that causing my knees and hips to hurt... I love my hours, and literally wouldn't change them for the world (and when my bosses tried to, I panicked). I just don't want to hurt all day.
I've looked online trying to find the "best shoes for 18 hour days" and 90% says crocks (I can't stand them and my boss would perfer if we didn't wear them).
That brings me here. I know somewhere I'm the world of Reddit is another person who loves to OC 7 days a week, and has found the perfect shoe....

Soo I'm so confused by a guys behaviour and wonder if he's even into me. Back story, We are both in our 30's and we met a while ago and kept in touch via social media with no romantic interactions. Well recently we reconnected and started talking via text and sometimes phone calls. The thing is, he says he has a lot going on at the moment , he is at university, working a few jobs which also means he has to travel sometimes. He says he is trying to lift himself out of his current situation (he comes from modest means) and lives alone. My confusion is we text each other a lot and it got to the point where I really wanted to meet in person and hang out because we have lots in common, vibe well via technology and I can see myself dating him.
He keeps saying we should meet and telling me places he wants to take me but never follows through or makes concrete plans however he says he is enjoying getting to know me.
This seems odd to me given we haven't actually spent time in person since we reconnected. He does however respond straight away whenever I text him and will send me good morning and good evening texts. I always thought if a guy is interested then nothing will get in the way of him making time for a girl or in my case seeing me...am I wasting my time? For all I know I'm one of many girls he's messaging...Do you think he is legit trying to get his life on track or am I just a filler to pass time?

Since Mandy still had not turned up and most everyone else in the house had things to do, Paul decided little Dan could spend the rest of the morning, at least, with him. He got himself and the child properly dressed, then opted to tuck the lad into his own oversized coat as they stepped out into the blustery air.
"You can't walk much yet, eh?" Paul said.
"Haaa," Danny intimated.
"Well, I can haul you about. 'Sides, even if you could walk, you've no shoes."
They set off down the street, Paul humming to himself as he usually did. The baby's downy hair tickled under the shelf of his chin, and it almost made him laugh.
This was going to be an odd day.
At the corner, Betty and Joey from down the street were about to cross. Betty had her big shopping basket; they had paused so she could redo the buttons on Joey's jacket.
"Pree baby," Joey slurred as Paul stopped beside them, and his free hand fluttered upward for a moment before he looked worriedly to Betty.
"C'n I? C'n?"
"He's wondering if he could pat Danny's hair," Betty translated.
"Oh," Paul nodded. "Sure, I guess."
Joey's fingers gently played with the faint strands for a moment, and then Joey grinned.
"M'pal," he said, and pointed to Danny.
"You got duty today, hmm?" Betty murmured, trying to strike up conversation.
Paul nodded again.
"Yup. Mandy wasn't back yet, and everyone was busy, so..."
"Got a day off or that?"
"Sure," Paul said, and laughed weakly.
Betty and Joey headed on then, and Paul waved to them, then checked that he had Danny securely settled.
It was a little embarrassing to know he was one of the few on the street that had no proper job or other productive way to pass time. Mostly he walked around the city, window shopping and reading newspapers or magazines. Sometimes he went to a library and read up on things needed around the squat, like repairs. At least then he felt he was doing something.
Today, he figured, would be mostly a going-inside-places day. Probably he could have just stayed in the house, but that always made him feel half-mad. Still, with the baby along, it would make sense not to stay out in the cold too much. Poor little guy might freeze.
Still, they walked a long way before Paul decided to stop in at that silly little music shop, Muztara. That place was always a little too warm, but there were spots to sit, and the owners always had free tea and cake for customers.
The door of the shop had a whole little rig of tiny brass bells that it rang when opened; Danny seemed to like that. At least he laughed and made a repetitive little "Shhhiii, shiiii" noise for a bit after. The slouchy guy behind the till looked up and waved.
"Hey, Paul."
"Hey."
As Paul was moving toward the tea urn, the guy moved generally that direction as well, slotting some LPs into a bin.
"You got a kid now?" he asked.
"Uhm," Paul said, filling a styrene cup and settling himself on a bench.
"We got milk, if ya want. For the kid."
"Ah? Tha'd be great. Ta."
Unfastening his coat, Paul eased Danny out and plumped the kid down on the bench at his side.
"How old's he?" the slouchy guy asked, reappearing from some back room with the milk.
"Uh, just a year."
"Cool. 'S'name?"
"Daniel. Danny, mostly."
"Nice. Here ya go then, Danny."
The guy had poured some milk into a funny little plastic teacup, and he handed it carefully to the baby, who very seriously accepted it and then stared at it, confused. Shaking his head and smiling, Paul set his tea aside for a moment to help the little lad drink.
"He's not s' good with cups just yet."
"Ah. Figures, as he's s' young."
There were a lot of biscuits and cakes laid out near the tea urn in boxes, and now Danny was craning his head around to look at them.
"Bikit?" he asked.
"Okay, little guy. One biscuit."
Paul chose soft rather than something crunchy, figuring that was best for little teeth. Danny seemed happy either way, shoving his milk cup into Paul's hands so he could concentrate on the sweet.
They sat a long time there. Now and then other people entered the shop. A few commented on Danny, mostly saying he was real cute. Paul felt proud whenever they did, since they also mostly seemed to think he was the baby's dad. It was flattering, sort of.
Eventually, Danny got fussy, rubbing his eyes and leaning against Paul's arm, whining. Probably he was tired. Paul stood slowly, stretching, then picked Danny up and tucked him back into the coat, fastening it carefully.
"Headed back out?" the slouchy guy yawned.
"Mm-hmm."
"Have a good day."
Danny seemed happier once they were back on the street, burrowing his head against Paul's jumper and ceasing his whining. Paul decided a library might be all right next. It would be nice and quiet. Little guy might sleep a bit.
Sure enough, by the time they reached the intended destination, Danny was well asleep, drooling just slightly. No big deal.
For the hour and a half that Danny slept, Paul read mostly about gardening. At the squats, everyone sort of worked together to grow a bit of food in the back gardens to save money, and he had some ideas for new vegetable beds they could try in a few months. Nothing in the books seemed to indicate his ideas were insane; very good.
Once Danny was waking up, a little blinky and confused, Paul reshelved his books and they took off again.
"Wanna go to the park, Dan?" Paul asked.
"Parg? Parg."
So to a park they went. Danny toddled about in the grass, stopping here and there to sit or crouch and stare at some fascinating pebble or such. Paul followed him, making sure he did not swallow rocks or something. Presently, the kid stopped and, looking focused, stood very still a while, grunting. Then he looked up to Paul.
"Help," he said.
"What, little guy? What help?"
Kneeling, Paul instantly caught a whiff of what needed help.
"Ah, no. Jeez. Come on, Dan. We oughta head home."

Hello all! I have been playing ttrpgs for around 4, almost 5 years now and despite being in many different diverse groups I've never had any horror stories to share. Now, I have at least one minor one.
People involved are myself(female, because it unfortunately matters), DM, Rogue, Ranger, Fighter, Bard and Witch. This is a Pathfinder 2nd Edition game.
Most of my experience has been with 5e, and I hadn't really touched any other system. So, when everything went south with Wizards of the Coast and the OGL and Pinkertons, I decided to branch out and try other systems. That is when I managed to find a group for Pathfinder! I was excited to learn the system, so as soon as I was in, I started reading the core rulebook and listening to videos on the rules of the game.
The initial party consisted of everyone but Witch(she would join later). DM proclaims he has about 3 years experience running 5e games, but is new to Pathfinder himself. No big deal, it seems all of us are new, with Rogue and Ranger being brand new to ttrpgs. We'll learn the system together. Things start off somewhat okay, with a skirmish between two sides, with players split between the two factions. Combat is very basic and everything dies in a single hit, without really attacking us directly. We do discover that Bard's character is... Well, the best way to describe him was a flamboyant gay elf, using a stereotypical gay voice and cadence, who ran from the battle at the first sign of trouble. That was... Off-putting, but it was whatever.
We cleared the encounter, and one side clearly won. My character was actually knocked unconscious, but was picked up and carried by another player of the opposing faction, Fighter. We then all eventually stumbled across a large dragon man, basically a Dragonborn, who breathed lightning, and had a huge axe and plate armor. When we fought him, all at lvl 1, still worn out from the last battle. Almost no one could hit his AC, and he nearly downed half the party before we managed to win. I later found out that the DM just used a level 3 player stat block for this guy, and buffed his HP, which I know in 5e, at least, is a bad idea.
After this, the DM had a shady NPC show up out of nowhere and invite us to come along with him. This was the first sign that the DM wasn't very good at roleplaying, or at least doing so in a convincing way. But, this was the plot hook, so we all went with it. The DM then showed off their inexperience again when we were offered a mission from this NPC, and Rogue asked some pretty softball questions about why we'd want to work with them. As an aside, rogue's backstory involved working with criminals, and these guys were like rebels against the empire who invaded the city.
Either way, we had to go to an auction house to buy a magical item. We were given 50 gold to buy the item, and this was where the DM displayed their inability to describe rooms to us. The description was very bland, and didn't paint much of a picture for us. He also didn't really do many voices, so it was difficult to tell if an NPC was talking, or if it was the DM out of character. Regardless, we found the item we needed, placed bids and got into a bidding war with a noble. For whatever reason, this makes the bard decide to set off a... Distraction, by trying to cast a spell on the noble to charm them, to which they roll a 37 to resist. We are level 2, by the way. This leads to bard's backup plan.
Bard lights and shoots off fireworks in the auction house, causing the entire roof to cave in and severely injure most of us. Rogue did manage to snatch the item, and slip away along with Ranger. Bard ran down the street escaping the guards, and myself and fighter just stood around in disbelief, because up until that point, we had all blended in without issue. There was no reason for such a huge commotion. We stayed and the noble spoke to us, but we talked our way out of it, Fighter being the type from a military/mercenary background, and myself being a local farm girl.
Eventually, we all met up, and in between sessions, the entire group agrees to kick Bard for playing a blatant caricature and being chaotic stupid. He also talked over and interrupted people a lot, and really tried to push his luck with every ruling. And, before we returned to the quest NPC, we got a new player, Witch, who immediately rubbed myself and Fighter the wrong way because she was playing an older, grandmother type, character who... No matter what you said... She knew more than you, or at least as much as you.
Once we got back to the quest NPC, we were paid for the job, and given the option of taking other quests. We did one on an island, it was a poorly narrated place with a simple puzzle that everyone kind of overcomplicated. Typical rpg stuff. Then another, where we got to see Ranger awkwardly flirt with an NPC as a distraction. He was terrible at it, and we all had a great laugh.
I should point out that in each of these sessions we played, DM usually sounded very unprepared, even when we were doing what was clearly intended. He also frequently showed that he was not doing anything to learn the system between sessions. He'd make the same mistakes each week, forget how many actions his NPCs have taken, or even how saves and checks work, frequently using passives, instead of opposed checks. It was frustrating, because we had two brand new players to TTRPGs and we were all new to the game. Yet, it was Fighter and myself, and occasionally Witch as her know-it-all trait wasn't character specific, who were explaining the rules. I even had to correct him on crits once, because he said the number on the attack roll, even with 20, was below the AC. He argued until I showed him the ruling, and he then changed to saying he knew how it worked. Apparently not.
I digress... In game, we did another mission that resulted in our party being ambushed by the noble we had seen at the auction house. The party was then split on motives, as the Witch felt this guy was evil and refused to change her mind, while he told my character he could help her find her biological mother(she was adopted, and there was a lot of familiarities between him and her). Other than what Witch felt about him, and that he was a noble from the invading kingdom, we had no real reason not to trust him. Well, once we were released and able to discuss things, and no matter what anyone did in trying to convince Witch to work with noble, she refused without giving any explanation in or out of character. She just didn't like the guy because of where he was from.
The session ended without us having chosen a side, and we were poised to visit with the noble the next day. The morning of that day, during the next session, Fighter couldn't make it, so we said he went off to talk to someone from his back story, and we went shopping. Rogue got herself a crossbow and Ranger helped teach her how to use it. We then went to a local restaurant my character frequently went to with her adoptive father. This was a fun opportunity for my character to kind of talk about her childhood a bit, how important family is, and some stuff about her dad. When we got there, the Ranger asked what he should order, and my character recommended this huge, expansive breakfast, and I even made up a name for it, the "Hungry Farmers Breakfast" and added that her father proclaimed to have been the first to order it and even named it. Cue our Witch chiming in to say he lied, because this dish is served all across the land. She's eaten it at tons of places.
Now, it's worth mentioning that I had brought it up to DM multiple times that Witch has a know-it-all, one-up whatever you say, personality, and that it really detracts from what others can do. He's said he talked to her about it, and nothing has changed despite that. This, for me, was the last straw. I called her out, and said for her to let us come up with unique character development that we want, and to not steal the wind from our sails. I might have been a bit rude about it, but it was a repeated issue that had yet to be resolved. Witch tried to defend what she said by comparing it to stuff in real life, like from chain restaurants, and I had to point out that they don't tend to have chain restaurants in fantasy worlds, and that this place was specifically a local place.
After that, Witch got quiet and the DM ended the session an hour early because he had stuff to do, and Witch was apparently feeling sick. Supposedly unrelated to being called out. I talked to Rogue and Ranger, and neither of them thought I was out of line, and were sort of feeling the same way about how she was acting. I messaged DM the next day about it, and he promised he'd talk to her again.
I waited a few days, and the Discord server was quiet, and I messaged DM, asking if they had heard back from Witch since they messaged her, and he said he hadn't. He then told me, absolutely out of the blue, that he had a dream of me, that I was holding a baby, and he and I went on a walk together. I... Had never had the misfortune of hearing something like this before, and just promptly tried to change the subject. Fortunately, he went with the change and we talked a bit about Pathfinder stuff. Now, DM knows I'm married, I live in a different country than him, and that I'm... Around 10 years older than him. So, I was very confused as to why he would ever say anything like that to me.
We skipped the next session because two players couldn't make it, and during this time, I asked a lot of people IRL, and in other ttrpg games I'm in about the situation, showing screenshots of the conversation so they had, verbatim, what he said. Everyone, guys and gals, thought it was either super weird, or outright creepy as heck. I agreed, and decided that this would be the last nail in the coffin. Poor descriptions, bad roleplay, terrible rulings, no enthusiasm during actual sessions and suggestions of introducing broken critical failure rules, like permanent injuries or dismemberment into a game with total ttrpg newbies ON TOP of this guy also dreaming about me with a baby. I was done.
I wrote the DM a length explanation, told him how creepy it was, and that I'd be leaving. Wished him well, and waited for his response. To his credit, he didn't explode. But, he did say that I was overreacting because what he said wasn't explicitly sexual or romantic, and so I shouldn't take it that way. Yeah, I'll just take my friend's advice, where she said he was testing the waters with the dream stuff. I told the group I was leaving, without context outside of things just weren't for me. Wished them well.
When I left, Rogue, Ranger and Fighter all stayed in touch and wanted to play more games with me. DM, on the other hand, decided to air out everything that he and I said, sharing screenshots of the conversation and... Yeah. Rogue and Ranger were both kind of shocked by it. Rogue said it was none of her business, and agreed that DM was a creep. Ranger was a bit more forgiving about the dream stuff, but was also offput by the airing of dirty laundry. Fighter left when I did, so he didn't see it.
Tldr: Joined a Pathfinder 2e game where the DM went from incompetent and underwhelming, to really creepy, alongside a player who glorified a gay stereotype, and another who wouldn't let anyone have any cool moment, because she had apparently experienced everything in life, and it was better than whatever you did.
Glad to be out of that group, and now I have Fighter, Rogue and Ranger in a group that I and Fighter take turns DMing one shots in until we can find someone who would like to be a DM for us on a longer form adventure.
All in all, far from the worst horror story, but still an interesting little rollercoaster. I hope you enjoyed this. Sorry if it was a long read.

I blinked, not entirely certain if I was just hallucinating or if I was tired.
I closed the cabinet, taking a moment to take a deep breath, pinch myself and verify that my fingers were indeed proportional to my hands.
My reality checks thus done, I returned my attention to the pile of change in the middle of the cabinet.
Now, I'd had my fair share of weirdness in the past. Socks going missing. Not just in the laundry, but from my dresser drawer.
The sink that occasionally dripped some sort of red liquid that most certainly wasn't blood- I checked, using my amateur microscope and comparing to a sample of my own.
I didn't even bother trying to explain why an old servant's uniform from upstairs would be laid out on my bed every morning- I just put it back, though I was beginning to wonder why it seemed the closet had been getting full.
My spare change going missing randomly had been so bizarrely benign, it had to have been something I just wasn't seeing.
Until today.
It was a dragon. Not a bearded dragon, not a dragonfly, and most certainly not a miniature set on top of my missing change. An actual, tiny, living dragon.
"Why do you disturb the slumber of the great Varristrax?" I had expected a surprisingly booming voice coming from the tiny frame. its voice was... squeaky. It's how I imagined those two mice that nested in that old shoe would sound like.
I still couldn't figure out how they got back inside, or how they got the boot back into the attic from the trash.
"You're a dragon." I said.
"The human is observant." They replied.
"You're a tiny dragon in a hidden cupboard I only noticed because it was left ajar." I stated. "Why are you in my cupboard?"
"This is where I prefer to nest and maintain my hoard. For a human, you are a very poor servant."
"Pardon?" I asked.
"Yes. You refuse to put on your uniform even though I conjure one up for you every morning, you persistently eat the food you lay out on my offering table, and you leave your offerings of coins in the most random of places. If you hadn't signed the contract, I would have incinerated you by now."
I nodded slowly, then shook my head. "I'm sorry, when I bought this house, the contract I signed said nothing about playing servant to a tiny dragon."
The dragon hopped up on its four legs. "What!? You absolutely must have known what you were signing up for!"
Ignoring the absolute absurdity of the situation, I headed for my room and pulled out my safe, where I stored my important documentation, such as the copy of the contract I signed when I bought the place.
Which, in hindsight, was actually kind of weird. I thumbed through it, looking for any clauses on dragon upkeep, but saw nothing. I was about to bring it back to the dragon, when I noticed it sat on my pillow, its tail pointed directly at another uniform.
I plopped the contract on the bed. "Read this. This is the contract I signed."
The pages slowly turned by themselves, and after around an hour, the dragon sighed. "It would seem you were swindled." The dragon stated. "Or perhaps, we both were played for fools. I am the master of this household, and ownership of this building can only be transferred to the one who signs it. As you are trespassing, I will have to remove you."
"Wait a moment! You can't just kick me out because you didn't do your due diligence in keeping things going!"
"Understand, human. The contract you should have signed is magically binding, by staying here, you have implicitly signed, and that serves as legal and magical precedent. Thus your choice is to either remain as my servant- which you have made clear you do not wish to be- or I will have to remove you."
I stared at the dragon for a few moments, then sighed. "Look, this place was really cheap when I bought it, but it was still my life savings up to that point..." I sighed. "Where do I sign?"

Hi all, TLDR at bottom.
We recently adopted two new kittens who have such amazing personalities, and have taken well to our older cat and our dogs. For the first week and a half, they seemed like they were in perfect health besides having worms, which is common. However, this week we noticed one of the kittens third eyelid starting to swell to the point where it looked like he was squinting. It felt like it happened within 6 hours (looked watery in the morning, completely swollen by the afternoon).
We took them both to the vet to understand what was going on - we were told that it could be feline herpes, something apparently 90% of cats have. I was shocked by this as I've had animals in ny family all my life, and have never heard of this before.
I'm just wondering how other owners deal with this and if I should be concerned for my older cat? When/how often can flareups occur? Is it deadly? Is it something to even stress about?
TLDR: New kittens have feline herpes. I have one older cat. Advice needed on his saftey/the kittens.

Everyone who worked with me knew I’d been a fan of SNL since I came out of the womb, so when I picked up the phone to make the reservation and spoke with his assistant, I told them I was Lorne's biggest fan. When he arrived with his wife and son (who went to a local boarding school), they were so kind, and he said, 'Oh, I heard you’re my biggest fan, and that’s amazing because I don’t have fans — the cast always has fans!' I almost died. I gave them my favorite table, which they were thrilled with, and when he got up to leave, he left me an envelope with a pretty sweet bonus tip inside. I wasn’t usually tipped doing my work, so it wasn’t necessary, but it was so thoughtful and appreciated. All three were true gems. You’d never know he was famous or rich at all."
4. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "I met Roseanne Barr for work once. I went to shake her hand, and she looked me up and down and said, 'I don't shake hands,' then walked away."
5. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Matthew Gray Gubler after he did a talk years ago at my college! Only the first 100 people who got tickets were supposed to be able to do a meet and greet. He said 'rules were made to be broken' and that he would stay and meet with everyone until they kicked him out. Not only was he incredibly sweet to me (literally introduced himself...so humble and posed for a goofy pic), but he seemed so genuinely kind to everyone there. Just amazing energy all around."
6. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "A friend and I visited my boyfriend while he was doing security at a jazz festival in Malibu. He told us Adam Sandler and his family had been there all day and tons of people took pictures with him. We ran back to the car to grab the digital camera, looked up, and saw Adam, his pregnant wife Jackie, and their toddler leaving. We went up to them. Adam was clearly done for the day, but his wife said, 'Honey, let me hold [toddler's name] and you can take a picture.' We handed him the camera and he took a selfie with us. Still have that picture on my fridge. Love the Sandman!"
7. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "My little cousin played one of Rob Schneider's kids in 50 First Dates. Rob was stuck-up, never got to know the children or their parents, and always went straight to his dressing room. I'm an introvert, so I like my alone time to recharge, but apparently the vibes he was giving off were that he couldn't be bothered to care about anyone else there. Also, the little girl in the movie was apparently a spoiled brat who threw tantrums and made them have to redo so many takes. I can see why Rob maybe didn't want to play with her, but the other kids were great!"
8. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "My husband met Rihanna years ago and said she was super nice. He was working as a ground handler at an airport and was setting up something on the ramp for her private plane. She came out, approached him, asked him about his job, and they chatted for a few minutes. Not sure if she was killing time until the gate opened, or if she went out of her way to talk to him for the heck of it, but he had nothing but nice things to say about her."
9. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Jerry Springer while bartending almost 20 years ago. He was thinking of getting back into politics and had a meeting in our private dining room on the second floor. It was happy hour and the bar was packed. Someone spotted him and started chanting, 'JERRY, JERRY,' while he was about to walk up the stairs. He then came to the bar, ordered a $2 beer, walked through the entire bar, shook hands, and took pictures. When he finished the loop, he set the full beer on the bar and handed me $40. Regardless of his show, I will always think of him as a class act."
10. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "My story is that I was actually horrible to a celebrity. In the '70s, I was obsessed with Donny and Marie. They were playing at our state fair that year. My dad tried to get tickets, but it was sold out. He took us to the fair anyway. A few times we could hear the music, which infuriated me at 7 years old. When we were leaving, my dad had to stop the car because there was a big crowd of people. As they cleared to let us through, two people popped their heads in the car window to apologize. It was Donny and Marie. I refused to believe it was really them, and I told Marie, 'You're not Marie. She's a lot prettier than you.' My family was horrified."
11. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Hands down nicest celebrity I've ever met was Taylor Swift. I met her at a concert as part of her security at the Houston shows. She was polite and introduced herself to everyone. She was obviously very busy, but she seemed interested in what I had to say and signed an album cover for my son."
12. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I have been lucky enough to meet Sir Ian McKellen twice: once after a performance where I also met Simon Callow and Patrick Stewart, and once during his tour of 80 shows for turning 80. Absolutely lovely man. He is my #1 dream dinner guest. I wish I was his friend."
13. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I did a photo-op last year at my local con with Ewan McGregor and, even though it was so quick, he was super sweet. We shook hands, and he asked how my day was. He’s gorgeous in person!"

I told him how jealous my Harry Potter-obsessed sister (who was working that day) was going to be, and he told me to tell her he sent his regards! It totally made her day at work when I texted her about it after!"
15. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Pink around 2000. She performed at a teen club I was at, and she was a sweetheart. After her performance, she even danced with us for a little bit."

I went inside and placed my order, and a guy in a white jumpsuit with a white bandana tied around his head came in. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, but he stopped and signed autographs and was chatting everyone up when I left. It wasn't until a few years later that I realized that person was Steven Tyler. This was in the late '80s before Aerosmith had that string of hits."
18. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "The most genuine interaction I've ever had with a celeb was with Bert Kreischer. I saw a show (during which he mentioned his grandma was in the hospital). Then, he told the audience he would be going to the bar next door after the show if anyone wanted a picture. When he arrived at the bar, he waded through CROWDS of people and made sure everyone who wanted to was able to get a pic or a moment with him. I stayed at the bar for a drink until he was on his way out (by this time the crowd had dispersed). I called out as he passed, 'Hey, I didn't get a chance to say it before, but I hope your grandma does well.' He stopped, turned around, and had a very genuine conversation with me."
19. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Jason Momoa was really fun to meet in person when I saw him at a Nine Inch Nails show. Really fun guy!"
20. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Jennifer Lopez. I went to where they were filming Air last year (I live in LA) because I wanted to meet Ben Affleck. I met Matt Damon as he wrapped before he left. He was a SUPER nice guy. I waited for Ben as his Escalade pulled up, but I DID NOT expect JLO to get out. She got out right next to me. She was only with her driver and he didn’t tell me to move or anything, so when she got out, I was like ‘Jen! Can I get a picture?' and she said sure. We talked about Selena because I’m Latina and she’s super important to me, and the movie means so much to me. She was SOO nice and sweet. She didn’t give any vibes that I was annoying her or that she had to Go. We also spoke in Spanish. We took our picture and then she went inside to get Ben. When they got out, Ben was NOT HAPPY (I don’t blame him. He was acting and directing), so I just stepped aside."
21. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "In 2004, I met Tony Curtis. He exuded 'old Hollywood.' He made his way around the room, speaking to each person, and when he approached me, he extended his hand and held my hand through the entire conversation. He focused on our conversation as if there was no one else in the room. As we said goodbye (he was still holding my hand), he raised my hand to his lips and kissed it. He was dressed impeccably and was in fine form. I have had many celebrity encounters, but nothing rises to the level of Tony Curtis. Absolutely the best celebrity encounter I've ever had."
22. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Sir Patrick Stewart at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando. We were both hanging out with friends in the lobby. He told stories, made lots of jokes with his friends, and included us in the conversation."
23. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I went to college with Muhammad Ali's twin daughters. He came with them for move-in day, and they arrived in a chauffeured Rolls Royce. He was gracious and took as many pictures and signed as many autographs as people wanted. I even have a picture where he is pretending to punch me. I told him that I grew up down the street from the house he had in Chicago before he donated it to the Nation of Islam. He asked me if they were good neighbors and laughed when I told him not really."
24. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "My sister met Katy Perry at a restaurant, but she was being rude to the bartender and all the employees who came over to help, so now my niece and nephew aren't allowed to listen to her music."
25. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Tori Amos, and she was an absolute sweetie pie. She hugged me and told me she liked my shirt. We spoke briefly. I was starstruck, but it made a lasting impression on me."
26. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I grew up in a tiny town (pop. 3,000), and every year for his twins' birthday dinner, Michael J. Fox would bring his whole family to the restaurant my mom worked at. She almost always ended up being their server and she said he (and his family) were the nicest people. They were unobtrusive, friendly, and excellent tippers."
27. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "James Earl Jones was super sweet. My father and I met him when I was young. His voice is deep, but sweet!"
28. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Dennis Quaid, and he was the nicest guy ever. We chatted about dogs for a while, and he was more than happy to take a few pictures!"

30. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Every time Dave Matthews plays at the venue across the street from our bookstore, people want to be working in the cafe because he randomly shows up for coffee the morning of his concert and gives the people waiting on him free tickets."
31. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Nicest celebrity I've ever met was Cole Sprouse. This was way before when he probably got sick of being on Riverdale and decided to just show his true colors. He took the photo of us together because I was shaking from nerves and excitement."
32. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I was a bartender at the Troubadour for five years and have so many stories! Jeff Bridges was the first celeb I met. His band was playing. Before we opened, after his sound check, he made a point of coming down to us bartenders to introduce himself and thank us for helping out that night. SUCH A GEM!"
33. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Jason Schwartzman came into the bar I worked in on a night that had a bunch of teenage bands playing and was super sweet to any of the kids who came up to him."
34. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "When I was young, I went to an Olivia Newton-John concert. I grew up watching Grease on repeat and had always loved her. At the concert, me and another young girl were invited on stage to give her flowers and introduce ourselves. On stage, l asked to get her autograph and she told me she would after the show. Post-concert, I waited with my family to get an autograph and she invited me and my dad into her fitting room and no one else. Once back there, I was so starstruck and amazed that she remembered my name! She was so kind and took pictures with me and my dad, signed a photo, gave me the set list, and wrapped it up by giving me a hug and kiss on the cheek. She spent probably an hour with us just hanging out in her room and chatting. To this day, it's one of my most cherished memories."

This happened so fast in the span of 48 hours and it really made me open my eyes at certain people I knew.
So for the really short context of what we were, was that we have('had' now I guess) a group of several university friends (we're all around age 20-26, gender doesn't matter here really). I'd love to create a relationship chart cuz it's kinda messy to explain but I'll try my best.
The parties involved are My bf and I (dating for 5 years++), my self proclaimed bestfriend, my bf's self proclaimed close friend, my bf's brother, a girl we hang out with, a pacifist that's the biggest floater I've ever met, and an innocent dude that just wanted things to die down.
There's a lot of back story and rants about my self proclaimed bestfriend but I'll cut it short. She doesn't have the best mental health and has a lot of negativity. We used to be quite close when they didn't let mental health define her. But after embracing therapy, she turned worse, way worse. She tried to search up symptoms of the possible mental health issues the simple test she took and applied as much as possible on herself, then used them as an excuse for everything she did. Every 2 sentence involved a mental health issue that she [thinks she] has. Certainly, she refuses to get actual mental health assessments because it's expensive, yet she's spent thousands per year to get anything aside for the assessment that takes several hundred. I've been enduring it, telling her about how I get affected by the negativity too. She has the tendency to place her Suicxxx attempts on us, and I got real sick of it. For several years, I still tried to talk to her, engage conversations with her, as long as it did not evolve into extreme negativity where I have to take responsibility of stopping her doing anything stupid. Because I knew that I was not enough, as she never listened to any of my advice anyways. Looking back, I was never exactly a friend to her.
Then, she got close to my bf because they became coworkers. She started treating my bf as a brother. But I personally cannot accept. Not because I was afraid she would take him away or something, it's that she was still introducing us as if we were close. When I say as a brother, I meant calling him the middle of the night because of mental breakdowns, telling him the times she's tried to k*ll herself and how he saved her, texting him for no reason (she never texts me, the 'bestfriend'), despite having a bf of her own, decides to choose my bf over her own. I find this absolutely inappropriate, and I've told her that. But she brushed it off as, owh you're just jealous, don't take away my 'family' from me (she has an awful relationship with her family). It's basically this thing called Transference. I'm not gonna dwell too much on it.
Okay so, finally going into the situation. My bf had a fight and I accidentally brought it to our group chat by sending the message to the wrong chat. My bf decided to elaborate on the fight. At that point, I've already left the group chat to deescalate the situation, since I never meant it to happen there. My bf left afterwards too. But the dude who wanted things to not be complicated added us back (poor dude). My self proclaimed bestfriend started to post 'what was needed to be said' in the group. On how everyone is having rough times and that we (mainly me) should control ourselves and get help (rereading it, they were basically dissing me). It was a long wall of text. Me being angry af, honestly replied 'TLDR' and left the group.
I was still angry at my bf, but as I was writing a long essay trying to tell him why I was angry, I realise that it was all anger on how my self proclaimed bestfriend, that just happened to be slightly related to the couple fight situation because of the group. It is then I realised, it's time to get out of the group, and finally cut things off, for my own mental health.
As I made my decision, it seemed like some people are pissed. My bf's self proclaimed close friend said that it was 2 issues: the fight, and the cut off. Apparently, this 'close friend', my 'bestfriend', girl we hang out with, these trio were actually discussing amongst themselves on what to reply, and decided to let my 'bestfriend' be the one to tell us 'what needs to be told'. Way to use a scapegoat. They've knowingly used her when they knew I had issues with her. This then clicked in my and bf's head, it explained why they're on her side, explained why he(close friend) thinks it's not fair for me to cut off 'bestfriend' as quote "it seems like you placed your previous hatred on her into the situation and now the group has to deal with it" aka he thinks I mixed up the situations together. Truthfully, I did not. I've apologised for the mistake I've made, and TLDR-ing ppl's worry. That's issue 1. This was the last straw and I made my decision to cut her off. That's another issue. There's no mixing.
Well for more context, our entire group is unhappy about 'bestfriend', we've said to talk to her about it, an intervention. But days, weeks, months passed and all they did was call my bf more and more, and no actions from the group at all. The entire group has asked the question, why is she even here, no one likes her. And I always have a guiltily say, it's because of me.
So what happened was that I was my bf's plus one, and she was mine. I placed hope on her getting better, so never cut her off. But as more and more gatherings and more and more questions of why she's even in our friend group throughout the years, these questionings also pushed me to consider if it was time to cut her out, so no one else needs to suffer because of my plus one.
Anyways, as I truthfully texted 'bestfriend' that I'm cutting them off, with reasons of 'never actually treating me as what they proclaimed' 'getting too close to my bf even after I've told them not to' 'spreading negativity unconsciously'. But told her that we can reconcile when she can finally get a hold of her mental health. She read it, called 'cloae friend' (no idea what they talked about), called my bf, and pleaded. She pleaded to my bf to not leave her. You read that right, she wasn't sad that she's losing me, she was sad that she's losing my boyfriend. She gave my boyfriend an ultimatum, he chooses me, or her. If he chooses me, she will cut him off because he will still be dating me. In the trios surprise, he chose me. So she cut him off.
Note that when I meant that she never texted me, it meant. She never texts me. She had the audacity to tell my bf that it was because "she would never reply". I've checked receipts, I have no idea what she's smoking but I have always, ALWAYS, replied. This made me wonder, what kind of misinformation is she spreadin in the echochamber.
Next day comes, she finally replied to me and said "I genuinely hate you" then blocked, running away from any hardships as usual. Anyways, my bf replied in the group as usual when she posted something. Because it wasn't my bf that cut her off, it was the other way around, so why couldn't he? He then gets a angry message from 'close friend', giving him another ultimatum, 1. Bear the consequences of quitting the group because he chose to cut off 'bestfriend'. 2. Not choose me. 3. Fix me and make everyone friends again. Well, my boyfriend chose the quit the group. In which, to be very honest, 'bestfriend' should have left the group or 'close friend' should have left if he couldn't stand it. My bf did nothing wrong lmao. You can also see, that 'close friend' got the information of my bf cutting her off instead of the other way around. So really, is it miscommunication, or misinformation being spread, or reading comprehension problems?
Well anyways, there's that. Below are rants about the double standard and big head scratching moments
So of course there are side pickings, the trio is on one side, and the rest on neutral, some on ours. None of us on our side are sure what's wrong with the trio for thinking the ultimatum is the way to go. But we did find that it's because they have family issues, so they thought of the group as a family. And they probably want the group to stay as it is. And behold, to them, yours truly ruined it. But for what 'close friend' said to me, it does not seem like he's ever seen me as a family, just, my bf's crazy gf that spread bad vibes to the group and never get help. Know that all I've sent to the group were memes and funny shit happening at work, and the last time he has personally talked to me was at the new year's party we had (yes, 5 months ago and during then I was positive af than ever). I don't know what bad vibes or not getting better he's talking about but doesn't he sound like he's "placed previous hatred on me into the situation"? There's tonnes of other double standard shit he's said to me and honestly, we all just wondered, what happened to this guy. He used to be a chill dude, thats better at adulting. Instead, he used his double faced salesman skills on us, thinking we wouldn't see through it. Guess the consequences of unemployment got to him. None of anything he said implied 'fix it with bestfriend so we can go back to normal'. Also, if u want to fix a family, you have them talk it out, not attack the person that finally couldn't take it anymore. Well, can't blame them, they don't know what a family is.
The codependency of the group got waaaaay toxic than we have ever imagined. And those 3 being in an echochamber will probably never realise it. 'Close friend' created their own group in the morning right after my bf left by the way, consisting of the trio, the floater, and my bf's brother. Yes, he made my bf quit the original group, and made another group.
We're damn pissed at the fact they didn't include 'dude' in. The reason they were pissed at me was because I made the decision of cutting someone out without consulting the rest of the group. Hmm, and they did the exact same thing to the dude.
The reason they didn't add the dude that just wanted things to die down, was cuz he asked if the ultimatum really is the best option. And quote the 'close friend' "dude could have shut his mouth like floater and the brother". We have no idea why the brother is in the group, but all he said was "well, both sides is kinda at fault" and bam, he's a part of them now.
Somehow this shows that they are so out of their mind, that they added my bf's brother into a rant group (unsure if this will be just a rant group or the finalised group for now) about his own brother and his brother's girlfriend. We theorise that it might be that the trios have horrid sibling relationships, so they thought my bf and brother would have too. It's just hilarious because 'close friend' plays DND with brother and my bf, he should know how close they are. Did they expect brother to not tell us this? Did they think brother hates me too?
'Close friend' legit said that he has a lot less to lose than my bf and I in this situation. Funny thing is, the group was created by my bf, he can do it on a whim, he can do it again, he doesn't need this group. On my side, I am an extreme introvert with dissociation problems (I'm getting it fixed, not because of this situation though, it's for my bf) that I never got close enough with anyone, aside from this 'bestfriend', but well, I can get a friend fast, I can lose them fast, dissociation at their best. I'm not sure why 'close friend' tried to one-up me on this, the one winning is whoever gained from this. He lost all respect we have on him, and he's stuck with a selfish suicidal that wouldn't a get professional diagnose for 5 years.
The only concern I have is when 'close friend' comes over for DND, I've decided to act as if nothing happened, since the boys (DND group) never interacted with me usually anyways. But if he throws me stink eyes or shades me in anyway, the fight's on. I'm not burning the bridge with him yet, only because of my bf, but no one can stop me if he taunts to burn the bridge down. The battleground? In his face, because he's a massive coward. (Okay this is rant about him now) he said that he has harsher things to say, but he doesn't say it. He said that just because he didn't say anything, doesn't mean he nothing to say. Then say it, coward. Until now, he has not said it. Until now, he's been throwing away his principles and being double standard. Until now, his arguments were from the echochamber of the trio. Where are your words, coward?
Truthfully, I just really want to get this out of my chest, and I thank Reddit for having everything. I'm not sure if I'll finally let this go. But this is a good try. For two days, it's been hectic for my bf and I. And it really.... Confused us to see our friends turned like this. And how the innocent 'dude' was just like the old man that keeps losing his cabbages for no reason in Avatar TLA.
Anyhow, issue has died down, my bf and I are closer than before. My mental health is noticeably better (disregarding the anger from the situation). We've seen the true colours of certain friends. We can still be friends with the other's in the group, just that the group chat is now abandoned. The sadness is mainly nostalgia. There are things that should stay as memories, and trying to pursue what is gone only brings stress and disappointment, so this really is the best. Overall, we'd say that we actually gained for losing those negative points in our lives that we never noticed/dealt with.

I've always had this odd series of recurring dreams about totally random things, where only the location would be truly "recurring" - my home city, but very clean, with very few people and with infinite locations. Like, you could enter a park or a cemetery and you could explore them endlessly unless you used the entrance as your way out. I've dreamt so many times there that I've had more than enough opportunities to venture into all directions of that world already. I know that in the South, there's an endless road to nowhere and grain fields surrounding it, in the East - an endless forest, in the North the city itself is endless, like a labyrinth
Anyway, to the point. Like four years ago, I've had yet another dream there and it would’ve been the last one, too. This time it focused on my grandma's place and her cozy apartment in an old tenement. My parents used to leave me and my sister there with grandparents, if our big brother was at school or couldn't take care of us for any other reason
In my dream, I landed in my grandma's house in media res, with three of my childhood friends and my cousin. It made little to no sense, because my cousin never knew my friends and neither him, nor my friends, ever been at my grandma's house
An important thing to note about that apartment - across the street, roughly on the same level as grandma's apartment, there have always been this one odd flat with fully blackened windows. It was always there - in the meaning that it wasn't a thing specific for this particular dream; I was aware and wary of its existence before, but before it used to be like a side character and no dream centered around it
I can't really tell much about this flat other than the fact that even thinking about it in a dream brought fear and the need to escape, to me and all the "characters." Btw. the real life view on these windows from my grandparent’s flat is totally normal - some couple lives there that my grandma never even spoke to
In this dream, me and my friends + cousin had only one objective - to enter this dark flat. No other reasoning was given
It turned out to not be as easy as one could think, because after entering the tenement it turned out to be infinite as well, so we were getting lost and frustrated a lot
Not much was happening from there, really. Only when we finally found the door, we felt an immediate fear. We pried the doors open and entered. From the inside, the flat was empty but normal. The windows were not blackened anymore, you could also see grandma's apartment on the other side normally. There was no one or nothing inside that would indicate anything scary or malicious.
We left and on the street, out of nowhere, there was like a lot of police cars and some random people staring. But most importantly - a mother of one of the friends who was screaming that her son is still there, begging the police to search for him and cursing us for getting him lost
And that's pretty much it, that's when I woke up, not even sweaty or in panic but just mentally tired and anxious. And I quickly forgot about that dream
But like two weeks later, a friend of mine called and had some tragic news to share - our mutual friend, the one who got lost in a dream, has passed away. On the way to work he stopped his car on the side of the road and suffered a heart failure
I immediately remembered the dream I've had and I'm like 80% sure it happened on the same day. My friend died on Monday morning and I woke up from the dream also around 8 am. My only doubt comes from the fact that at the time, I've been in college and I've had free Mondays, so theoretically I could get it mixed up with Sunday
I rarely share this story, because my childhood friends really didn't like hearing about it but yeah. To this day I'm bothered by the thought that this dream and us entering that dark flat somehow resulted in his death. The potential timing seems just too tight. And somehow, in the way his mother blamed it on us in a dream, sticked with me and I can’t really consider this dream as a form of "warning" or "omen".
I guess it's also worth to note that since that dream occurred, I never had another one from that "world" again

I have suffered in life. I've never used that word before because I always found it to be tasteless and insensitive to those who are tortured, starving, etc; I am using it because at this point there's no other way to put it. I've struggled in so many ways, ways that I genuinely do not see others around me struggling. I've struggled mentally since I was 12. SEVERE mental struggles and illnesses that have landed me in a hospital out of fear I was going to end my life. I have always been alone, an outcast, and what little company I have always tends to outgrow me. Every day has felt like hell since the day I turned 12, and I am 26 now. This is going to be disputed, but I have very minimal blessings. Sure, I have things others don't have, but with that I can name 1000 people who have what I have and more. I'm not hideous, I would say I'm average, but I'm definitely not beautiful.. My aunts praise my beautiful cousins , my intelligent cousins, and I'm just here... drifting along year by year trying to find people who will appreciate me.
I don't want to go into more detail regarding low self esteem. I just want to say, I have gone through long periods of extreme worship to try and combat my mental health and hold onto hope that Allah will help me; SAVE me. I never get a response, and that crushes me in a way that I cannot even articulate. It debilitates me that despite all this suffering and all my worship to try and ease it, I am just left alone. Not even Allah is there for me. If Allah would listen to me and help me, I would be grateful every day for the rest of my life. In the rare moments I have felt happiness, I gave so much gratitude to Allah.
I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy. Many don't know how it feels to resent waking up in the morning, to wish to get cancer, to wish to die and not be able to do it by your own hands because you are told you will just suffer in the afterlife. Not many know what it's like to feel this level of pain for over a decade. Comparison is the thief of joy, but it is a human habit - and I am human. I can't help but see what my own blood family has been gifted by Allah and wonder why I have to endure such a painful and never ending test. I can't handle it. I can't do this. I can't breathe.
I'm not asking to be a smokeshow with a high paying degree and have 100 friends and a loving husband and a loving family like some other muslims I know; I'm asking to find some ounce of happiness, some ounce of self worth. I've done the religious work, the social work, and the mental health work to try and change my life by own hands along with having tawakkul, but I always end up empty handed, disrespected, and alone.
A person can only take so much. I can't take this anymore.

Hi! I have checked the internet and asked my husband but can‘t find the answer I‘m hoping for. Back home where I‘m from, we‘ve spent the day at the swimming pool every other Saturday. These pools often have several pools, such as a wave pool, one with a lazy river, slides etc., as well as whirlpools, steam rooms, saunas, kid‘s pools etc. We‘d usually go in the morning, find some lounge chairs to put our stuff on (create a base) and then spend the day swimming, relaxing, playing card games, reading, sometimes napping. In between we‘d eat at the restaurant that‘s at the pool (you don‘t have to leave the pool or change for it, you eat in your swim clothes) or bring a picnic to eat at your seats. Entry varies depending on the pool, can be between 8 to 30€. I want to point out that this isn‘t at all an uncommon experience. Almost every town has pools like this, some are more basic of course (and cheaper), but for all of them you can essentially stay all day. I have yet to find this experience in Scotland. I miss spending the day at the pool. Most pools here expect you to leave after a couple of hours and there is no food allowed, can‘t bring a picnic either, there is nothing to lounge on next to the pool to read a book or play a card game before dipping back in. Please, if anybody knows of a pool like this in Scotland, could you let me know? I miss this experience so much!

so for background info, i’m a 21 year old 170cm F diagnosed with PCOS. i started my weight loss journey again around 10 days ago. i started off on the 25th of May weighing 92.5kg. my TDEE was 2072 calories so i decided to cut down 500 and have been eating 1500 calories everyday since then.
i also use the gym at my building which is open for women 3 times a week, where i do weight training and cardio. i have 1 rest day and i exercise at home for the remaining 3 days using HIIT workouts and youtube videos, combined with getting my daily steps in.
at one point in these 10 days, i woke up to being 93 and then 94kg, which confused me but i assumed it was water weight so i continued my regime regardless and got back to my starting weight of 92kg on the 30th of May. this morning on the 2nd of june i weighed myself and i’m 93kg once again.
i’m confused with what i’m doing wrong. i have been pretty diligent with tracking everything i consume and have even been under my set calories for the day sometimes. i know fluctuations are common when losing weight but i want to know if there’s some mistakes i might be making so i can rectify them early on and continue with my weight loss plan.
i aim to be 80kg by september, but i’m not sure if that’s possible if i keep gaining weight instead of losing it.

Before I start I feel like I have to say that he is 10 years old and on the spectrum and that he is not very verbal.
Where do I even start? He is constantly whining and throwing tantrums especially in public no matter how patient or how much my parents do to calm him. He ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS BREAKS OUR STUFF I cannot have ANYTHING in this house without him. My phone, my mom’s phone, plates, more recently my pc monitor, our new ipad, and a whole lot more. He also will not stop drawing on EVERY surface of the house and it takes so much time to clean them all. He constantly makes messes in every part of the house that WE have to clean since he throws a tantrum every time we tell him to do it. He wakes up at ungodly hours of the morning and just plays the loudest shit on the tv just so he can wake us up. Not to mention how he tortures my mom by just clinging to her all the time and always pulling her hair and hitting her. I am so tired of him. I get mad to the point where I could not care less if he disappeared the next day. My parents are fucking saints being as patient as they are with him. I hate him so much.
