I don't know if this is the right sub to be posting this in but looking for any kind of advice.
Around 8 weeks ago the fire hydrant box (that's what the fire department told me it was) has had a high pitched continuous alarm go off 24/7 out the front of my apartment building my roommate and I rent in Mount Gravatt.
Ive contacted the real estate about it and they've continued to just say that they'll pass it onto the owner or when the managers come back into office. Since we couldn't get anything back from them I've contacted the fire department and they temporarily fixed it however the alarm still often goes off to this day at random hours rather than continuous.
They (firies) have then told me that it's a real estate issue as it's maintainace and needs to be rectified by the owner. Ive told real estate this and they again said they would pass it onto the owner.
It's going no where at this point. My real estate just thinks we're being a nuisance but sometimes my roommate and I can't sleep because it happens to be right out the front of the apartment.
The RTA said that since it's not physically in the building that it's not their responsibility.
I don't know what to do anymore so literally any advice would be amazing.

2023.06.06 15:20 y-o-y Older Players - How do you keep your body intact during tournaments?
After a nearly 20 year break, at age 46, I started playing in a local league this season. I am pretty healthy so despite my age (and the degraded speed that comes with it), I still play in the outfield and I run the bases pretty hard.
My team plays two games every Sunday, sometimes with an hour between games, sometimes back-to-back. Early season I was pretty sore the next day, but now my body has adjusted to the pattern and I am sure to get everything warmed up and loose before play with a focus on my lower half.
This past weekend, we had a 90 minute break between games and my body freaked the f out. Knees, hips, hamstrings all went nuts the first time I hit the gas to track down a liner in the gap.
I have 2 weekend tournaments coming up, 4 GG each. With more play and longer waits between games, I am not confident my body is going to hold up without employing some specific strategies and tactics to help.
What does the collective wisdom of slowpitch
recommend I do to keep my body operational during these weekend tournaments?
(The answer for next season is "incorporate sprinting into my regular fitness program so your body is adapted" but that won't help me next weekend!)

I've experienced a missed miscarriage. I took my Obgyn's advice to wait a week as she said natural is better but nothing has happened. I also can't have the full dose of the drugs due to a prior section, which sounds to me like D&C is best for me. I'm starting to regret not booking in for the D&C straight away. I'm afraid of what lies ahead. I know everyone has a different experience. I'm wondering because I have kids, will it be faster if /when it does happen ? For example my first labour was 24 hours, my third baby 4 hours start to finish, presumably as my body/ cervix is used to it . Are MCs the same? I'm sick of waiting and also so scared of when it does start it will be awful.... I'd like to think maybe giving birth before means it will be over faster? Or am I clutching at straws?

I have been working on a solution that addresses the age old dilemma of... "buy now or wait for a dip". Here is the issue. When a stock makes a major D1 breakout on heavy volume and it has relative strength, we know institutions are buying it. We add the stock to a watchlist and it continues to grind higher. Everything looks great, so we buy the stock. As soon as we enter the trade, the stock pulls back. Now we are wondering if we should take a loss or add to the position. We know from Hari’s “walk away analysis” that we need to give the trade some breathing room, but we can’t help but wonder why we always seem to enter the trade at the worst possible time.
First of all there is a reason why “walk away analysis” works. Stocks do not go straight up or straight down. If your market analysis is good and your stock selection is good, you need confidence and that comes with experience. Stick with the position and it will come back and start heading in your direction. There are two critical components to price action. The first is a breakout and that movement through a critical price point is what gets the stock on our radar. The second element is follow through. We enter on the breakout, but we need continuation to make money. Often the stock has exhausted a lot of energy on the breakout and when we enter the trade it is out of gas. The stock loses its momentum and it retraces. Now we are losing money and we start to question our initial analysis. The chart below is Nvidia. It is the strongest performing stock in the S&P 500 this year and you can see how the stock has a key breakout and lots of dips.
Even the strongest stocks have dips. Buying each of them would have worked beautifully.
I believe that alerts are the solution. Instead of taking a position in the stock, we can set an alert. It won’t cost you any money to do this. There is no capital commitment, no position, no emotional attachment and you are in complete control. Often conditions change and the alert gives you time to evaluate the trade from the sidelines. The problem is that alert lines and price alerts take time to set.
I’ve spent thousands of hours dropping alerts lines and they have been invaluable. Instead of chasing hot stocks, I set an alert below the current price and I wait for the alert line to be triggered. Once it’s been triggered, I set alerts above and below the current price. If the stock keeps moving lower, I set new upside alerts at lower prices. I want to buy this stock, I just want to enter it as best I can. There are times when the stock retraces more than I would like and that tells me that sellers are active and that the upside is limited. In these instances, I am glad I used alert lines instead of chase the stock because I would have a loss. There are other times when the first upside alert I set is triggered. Now I’ve had time to evaluate the stock and the market and I can decide if the trade still looks attractive. This method is effective, but it is extremely time consuming. There has to be an easier way.
Once I have identified a strong stock, the goal is to enter on a dip. Some stocks do not dip and they just keep going. The vast majority of stocks do retrace and I have to be willing to let the handful that don't go. We can't catch them all. Good stock searches put the best stocks in front of us, now I just need to find a way to easily place alerts on the stock. I would love to buy a 3/8 EMA cross, RS/RW, VWAP cross or an LRSI cross, but those indicators are already on buy signals. What if I could set a condition where the indicator had to go from bullish to bearish and then to bullish again? This feature would certainly make it easier to set an alert. What if I could use multiple variables at the same time? If the stock dips below VWAP and then rallies back above it on relative strength and heavy volume, that would be a good entry point. To take this a step further, what if I could set this alert on a stock search that contains the strongest stocks with just a few clicks? Now instead of spending time flipping charts and setting alert lines, I can spend my day managing alerts and buying dips on the strongest stocks.
This is a feature that I have just released for a handful of variables (LRSI, RS/RW and our B/S signals). In the example below you can see how this would help you to enter a trade. IOT was in our Green Royal Flush search. If you look at all of the RS/RW crosses M5 for the stocks in the list they performed well with a couple of exceptions even though the market closed near its low of the day. Not all of the stocks will work and that is fine. This method helps us avoid those dogs. We want the stock to preserve most of the gains and we don't want it to spend much (if any) time below VWAP. In the example below, IOT was a stock I highlighted in a video Friday. It had a great D1 and it preserved most of its gains during the day. When the SPY found support (double bottom), the stock regained its relative strength and it shot higher. This was and excellent alert.
Here’s where we can all use your help. What indicators would you use for these alerts? I know many of you use 3/8 EMA crosses and VWAP so those will be added next. What other variables would you use?
Are there platforms that offer this kind of functionality? If so, please share your method and the platform with the community. This concept is powerful and you should all add it to your trading regardless if you use my software or not.
BTW, this method also works well for swing trades. For swing trades on strong stock like NVDA, you would set an LRSI alert when the M30 goes < 20 and then > 20. That is a buy signal according to the rule base and I would use a slightly longer time frame like M30 because it is a swing trade. If the alert is not triggered, there is no opportunity to buy a dip - no harm, no foul. If it is triggered, you can evaluate the market and the recent price action in the stock. If everything still looks good, you will have an excellent entry point for a strong stock. I will be adding the alerts to the Portfolio screen so that you can set exit alerts on your positions. I believe these alerts will change the way we trade and I look forward to your feedback.

Unfortunately my Google-Fu has failed me as the symptoms listed below appear to partially follow certain research i've attempted to follow but the end result is that they are inconclusive.
After sustaining an unexplainable fall at the start of the year and never fully regaining her independence in and around the house, my Gran has had three or four visible instances of a weird situation whereby she can be standing or walking perfectly fine but suddenly ends up in a trance/state where she's clinging onto anything for dear life like she's about to fall over. We're now suspecting this may have been the cause of the initial fall.
The trance like state she falls into is her being perfectly fine walking between the living room and kitchen but within a split second she can be hanging onto the door handle and door, or the kitchen worktop and as a result appears to be hanging on for dear life. When prompted during these episodes, the stock answer to anything is "I don't know" whilst visibly looking upset/scared/fearful.
In two of the instances, she has only had this trance momentarily before reverting back to her usual self however on two instances (a fortnight ago and this morning) she's gone to step towards a chair or another location and started to stumble. In both instances it has been lucky that i've physically been there to grab hold of her to avoid any potential fall, but as the other trances she's suddenly back to her usual self.
She is on a wide array of tablets, some taken in the morning and some in the evening, none of which the dosages have changed with the exception of warfarin tablets due to the fall having an influence on these. She also takes insulin for her diabetes and this has remained consistent prior to her fall. She's also visited the doctor multiple times and they've not reported anything abnormal with her blood tests.
Nutrition wise, she eats a varied diet prepared by myself and parents (who live with her) and we're actively tracking this as well as her blood sugar levels and the amount of insulin she takes twice a day (both relating to her diabetes). She possibly doesn't drink enough which is evidenced by fewer trips to the bathroom but on a few occasions she hasn't made it to the bathroom at all. We're not certain if this is because she isn't quick enough to make it to the bathroom or if she doesn't realise she's wetting herself.
She isn't nearly as active as she was before but is encouraged and prompted to take a walk every hour or so, which sometimes may extend to 2-3 hours depending on who is in the house at the time. One contribution to her inactiveness would be the fall, as she still says her back is sore which was badly bruised but fails to mention the three ribs she fractured which is a positive. Her memory also wavers, with long term memory being pretty much spot on but short term memory struggling most of the time.

I really love the design op the Pixel watch and was thinking of buying one. Currently using a Huawei Watch GT 2 that lasts me well over a week with normal use (wear during the day, tilt to wake, automatic brightness, sports tracking 2-3 times a week) and read that the Pixel watch can get about 24 hours or slightly more. I don't need a lot of smart features, just notifications and sports tracking mainly. Is it possible to get at least 3 days out of the Pixel watch by disabling a lot?
I don't need cellulawifi/gps and only track heartrate and steps when wearing.

I have been teaching in a variety of positions for the past ten years.
I interviewed for a tech support position at a local university last week and was offered the position on the spot. I tentatively accepted yesterday, after having the weekend to think about my next steps. Now, I'm in a salary negotiation phase.
I have the potential to make a higher yearly salary, and to have comparable PTO. The people I interviewed with seemed nice, and I got a general good vibe. But I am hypervigilant about potential red flags that I don't think are actual red flags, but I am scared af. SCARED OF CHANGE
I think I'm dealing with some work-related trauma. Over the years I've experienced:
- verbal abuse/bullying by a principal who I thought had my back
- working with a truly terrible human who was awful to children, and when I confronted my superintendent he completely dismissed me and my concerns
- terrible students
- behaviors that took me 24 hours to physically recover from
- classroom being torn apart multiple times
- a building intruder
- multiple children getting injured/going to the hospital
- colleagues I thought were friends doing a complete 180 and blasting decisions I've made on Facebook and/or texting me after hours, questioning my professional decisions on trivial matters
- being thrown into a position that I was absolutely not prepared for or briefed on
I'm nervous that I will be walking into another toxic environment. I'm sure this is a byproduct of workplace trauma, but it's really hard for me to not be completely terrified of moving on. After all, if I stay in teaching I at least know what I'm in for right? (I recognize that this mindset is very unhealthy!)
Although I will miss the kids, at this point, this is not holding me back. It's fear of going through more trauma, and I know that this fear is likely not based in objective reality. MY NEXT STEPS
I am in therapy, and am working on trying new methods of anxiety recovery.
I guess I just need reassurance that it will be ok.

27F, 5’1, 114lbs, non smoker & drinker. I’ve always had GI issues since I was young but I’ve been more mindful of my bowel movements since last year. I noticed that I occasionally have small streaks of bright red blood in stool/blood in the tissue when I wipe after a bowel movement, last time this happened was as recent as 4 days ago (I suspect I have an anal fissure since I usually feel pain/discomfort in the butt after a bowel movement with blood). Anyway, after that bowel movement with blood, I suffered from diarrhea. I went to the toilet about 4 more times on that same day and all of my bowel movements were loose/watery. Since then all of my bowel movements these past few days have been loose. (No blood thankfully). I only have a bowel movement once a day but the stools are loose/look like diarrhea. Just had a bowel movement an hour ago and it was loose again. Not sure if it’s because of what I’ve been eating recently but yeah the loose bowels is starting to alarm me. No weight loss or other symptoms aside from loose stools and occasional blood in stool. Should I see a doctor for this immediately or could it wait until next week? Thank you very much if someone responds.
Detailed BM these past few days:
Friday - First BM was normal but had a small streak of bright red blood. Tissue had blood when I wiped as well. Had a BM 4 more times that day, all of them were loose/watery.
Saturday - Loose stools. Only one BM that day.
Sunday - No BM. This is not really unusual for me, sometimes it takes me more than 24 hours to have a BM.
Monday - Loose stools. Only one BM that day.
Tuesday (Today) - Loose stools. First BM had more chunks (?) of stool but very loose (it was a lot), second BM was more watery. When I wiped I saw yellow on the tissue.

2023.06.06 15:02 Timely-Elk8291 Trip report: Geezer first-timers--May 8-June 5. Kyoto, Izu Peninsula, Tokyo, Nara, Kamakura (Part I)
Like others, I'd like to repay valuable advice and info gleaned from this sub. Unlike many on Reddit, we're getting up in years (M 73, F 70). That didn't keep us from doing just about anything younger people might do. You might consider passing this report along to your parents or other older folks who might be hesitant about taking an independent trip to Japan.
Here are a few highlights before getting to more detailed info in Part Two.
Biggest surprises: The quiet. We never had a noisy hotel experience. People on subways and trains are famously silent and when a car honked near us in Kamakura, a tourist town south of Tokyo, it was a shock. The pace of change. For a country renowned for cutting-edge technology, it still clings to some traditional ways. That goes for more modern habits, like masking (still around 90% in Tokyo subways on our last day), and the bottles of hand sanitizer in every shop doorway, restaurant and other public places. Cash isn't king but we definitely needed it, even in Tokyo. Fortunately, getting it was extremely easy. Food was even better than advertised. We're not extreme foodies but we like a good meal; we never had a bad one in four weeks. The famously efficient transit system was even easier and better than imagined. Taking luggage on subways and trains was never a problem (though we were careful to avoid the worst of rush hour). We took fewer taxis than expected, though when we did they were lifesavers.
Especially for Geezers: Our main concession to age was avoiding late nights out.
We're in reasonably good health, though one of us has minor knee issues. Escalators and elevators eased our way, occasionally, in public transit, but there was no getting around the ubiquitous stairs. We logged up to 6-to-8 mile (or more) walking days, sometimes going non-stop from morning 'til evening.
Two pair of comfortable shoes are a good idea, though advice about wearing slip-ons or shoes that don't require tying the laces is perhaps overdone. I wore my regular Nike jogging shoes and my partner chose On (for the elastic laces).
Before leaving home, we took long walks. Don't forget to go up and down as many stairs as you can find.
If you do your homework, you can find your way around on your own. The awesome power of the smartphone and the proliferation of signs in English or Romaji, especially in cities, has vastly eased Japan travel for us gringos (and other gaijin).
Here's one tip I haven't seen here: Arguably the best of the old Japan guidebooks in English, "Gateway to Japan" (last published in the 1990s), is now available in a digital edition. I downloaded it (for $10US) to the (free) Kindle app on my smartphone and my iPad. It has all the usual guidebook stuff, including good, historical info and smart ratings on places to see, plus walking tours and shopping and eating advice. It has embedded links to Google Maps that ease navigation. But please note: it isn't updated as frequently as other sources, so be sure to double-check with Japan Guide (or other online sites) on opening times, fees, etc.
One other pre-trip tip: If you're like me, you may be resistant to absorbing often mind-numbing background on the history, culture and traditions of another country. Shogun, the 1986 bestselling novel by James Clavell (later a motion picture), is an easy way to fix that problem for Japan. Get a library copy or cheap used paperback online. It's very long, but a page turner. And except for a plot device or two, it's a remarkably accurate portrayal of a key turning point in Japan's development. If you take the time to read it--and you should--you'll be surprised to discover when you get to Japan that you have a useful understanding of the people and society of today's Japan.
Trip prep: We're fairly experienced international travelers, less so in Asia. I spent six months in the pre-trip phase--which paid dividends in cheaper hotel rooms and tickets to hard-to-get attractions.
I did minimal language prep (about 10 half-hour lessons of Pimsleur's basic Japanese, borrowed from the library) and wish I'd done more. But even that paid massive rewards. Don't be an Ugly American; learn and use the basic courtesy words and phrases frequently mentioned on this site. It's easy and goes a long, long way. My favorite party trick was Gochisōsamadeshita ("thank you for the meal"), which never failed to elicit a polite response--sometimes a giggle--from restaurant staff.
I'd also underscore three vital tips often found here: Keep your voice down, walk on the left and don't blow your nose in public.
To narrow our options, I browsed many recent, general guidebooks (from the library) and online sites like Japan Guide and this one. I used Google Docs to compile itinerary and background info (the main itinerary document was about 25 pages long). During the trip, Japan Guide was our go-to reference for up-to-date info and links to individual attractions.
What we brought or bought: A sling bag and auxiliary smartphone battery (Anker MagGo for iPhone). I usually ran out of juice on my phone by midday, so the extra battery was a godsend. A stack of old-fashioned cotton handkerchiefs came in handy, since paper products like tissues are quite thin. We bought tiny folding umbrellas at Family Mart and stashed them in our sling bags on rainy days, along with a plastic bag to protect them when wet; they never failed us.
What we brought or bought and didn't need: Yes, it's hard to find places to toss your trash (heed the warnings on this sub) but advice about bringing plastic bags with you seems unnecessary. You can get bags at konbinis and other stores (they may charge a few pennies); we ended up tossing excess plastic bags at the end of the trip.
We brought little cloth hand towels, widely used by Japanese people, since public toilets often don't have ways to dry your hands. But we never actually used them.
Best apps and websites for getting around: Japan Travel from Navitime, loaded before leaving home. Along with Google Maps and the built-in compass feature on the phone, it made getting around a breeze. We loaded the Smart-Ex app for booking bullet trains before leaving and got our first train tickets at a discount.
Best of all, an IC card. We put Suica in our Apple Wallet, loaded with some yen before leaving home, and loved it. Be advised: Suica and Smart-Ex sometimes conflict in real life, requiring help from station personnel to get you through the gate. If you want to avoid that, download and print the QR code for your train ticket.
The Japan Meteorological Agency website and Weather dot com offer very reliable, up-to-date forecast info.
Cellphones: For various reasons, we used a combination of Verizon's fairly new $100 International Monthly Plan (250 minutes of phone, 250 messages and unlimited highspeed data for first 20GB) and Ubigi's $17 eSim. The Verizon was a mixed bag; it did let me use my phone as a hotspot but the quality of the signal depended on the local partner; I counted at least three--SoftBank, au and Docomo. I switched between my cellular plans, depending on signal strength in a location. Using my phone exclusively for navigation and web searching, I never hit the Verizon limit and needed about half the Ubigi 10GB.
Getting there: We chose to fly Premium Economy for the first time, mainly for comfort on the 13-hour flight, and found it worth the considerable extra expense. We're also glad we went non-stop (ANA), even though it meant spending the first night in Tokyo before zipping off to Kyoto.
Expenses: About $15K (USD) for 28 nights, not including airfare to and from Japan. This was our first overseas trip in more than 3.5 years, due to the pandemic, so we splurged a bit.
We spent almost a month and only scratched the surface. How we went about picking places to stay, see or eat, and some of the ones we especially liked, will be highlighted in Part II of this report, coming soon.

You've been gone for about 40 days. Every day is a coin toss of if I miss you or if I'm mad at the mess you left behind for me to deal with. Why wouldnt you ever talk to me about this stuff? You were always so sure you had it figured out but wouldnt go into any details. At this point I dont know if you just got really bad legal advice or if you were just not nearly as smart as you thought you were. Now, cause you wouldnt discuss it I have to deal with all of this by myself.
Up until about a year ago I thought our relationship was improving since you would come over for dinner every couple of weeks but then it occurred to me that I was the one putting in all of the effort here. If I forgot to text you about coming over you wouldnt initiate contact. Ever since I had that thought I just dont know if you ever actually cared. You were absent most of my childhood just cause there was stuff you had going on that was more important to you than me. I really try not to blame you for not knowing how to be a dad, since your dad was terrible, but that only helps so much.
I dont know if you know, but I have no memories with your dad. I cant think of a single memory of me and him being together. I kept calling you to come over to have dinner with us cause I didnt want that same thing to happen to my own son and his relationship with you. Fortunately he misses you a lot. We say a prayer for you every night at bedtime.
I'm sorry for being upset with you. I just need to talk to you again. The only thing that makes this easier is knowing you and E are together again.

I’ve been in the industry a few years now. I tried residential carpentry and hated it, drove a F550 dump body for a lumber company and loved it but the money wasn’t there, then I got into rigging 3 years ago and love it. I was at a non union heavy haul and rigging company out of Boston. Awesome equipment and a lot of skill but we got 40 hours that’s it, no overtime available, terrible benefits and I could see how miserable the lifers there were. I started at $26/he and after 2 years I was at $35/hr. I got my 1C and 2A hoisting licenses while there and was going to get my class A but they made that law that you have to go to school for it. $10k for school near me and they offered to pay but I’d have to sign a 3 year contract.
I left 6 months ago to go to a Local 4 crane company in Boston. They told me they’d get me into the operating engineers union after like half a year (a lot of guys get in them quit I get it) and I’d be trained to eventually run cranes and get my class a. The money is good, $35/ but double time overtime and I average 60 hours a week and have good health insurance even before being in the union. They knew I didn’t have my CDL yet and that didn’t seem like an issue. A few months ago the owner wanted me to drive the 36,000 pound ramp truck with a Lull on the back over an hour all highway and I refused. He got mad saying we can’t have riggers without their licenses (I’m one of 3 without a CDL) but he knew this when he hired me 3 months prior to this. However he did follow up with saying he will pay my whole school fee for me to get my license.
I found out one of the other guys without a CDL has been driving that ramp truck with loads lately and it’s making me nervous. Do I want to sign on to a company that would be willing to let non CDL drivers drive their trucks? Even if I refuse and go to school what else would they have me do? It’s tough because otherwise they’ve been good to me and everyone here, getting into local 4 would be amazing (some crane guys recently retired at $260k /year), and I’ve never been this caught up on bills and payments.
What would you guys do with this situation? I’ve looked into a few other crane companies. 2 of them wanted to hire me but they’re even further south then my current company and I’m on the north side, and then the one near me he’s friends with the owner and fired a kid who applied there. Nothing else around here pays anywhere close to what I make.

tl;dr: please read and help me if you can
My girlfriend, 24F is bipolar disorder diagnosed. I am 24M I have ADHD of the hyper focus variety, but not to the level that it becomes enough for a major relationship issue and I do my best to submit to her BPDO induced OCD.
I should start by saying she taken daily seroquel for years but there is a noticeable tolerance built that seems to coincide with these issues.
90% of the time in our relationship. My girlfriend is wonderful, she is thoughtful, kind, the type who wouldn’t squash a bug even if it was in her way but would rather save it and move it outside. She’s morally vegetarian and loves animals just like I do she’s also not a mean person generally, she’s very forgiving and loving.
However, there have been two major episode periods throughout our relationship where she has changed completely during these times. Since like i said she is diagnosed bipolar disorder and is prescribed Seroquel she raised her dose temporarily the first time this happened and that eventually helped (I Think that was it). She said some pretty horrible things to me, and kind of threatened to end the relationship, even though I was almost certainly positive that that’s not what she really wanted, because immediately before & following the clarity after the episode, she changed completely back to how she normally was. Most loving all over me wonderful girl ever.
We spoke about the fact that that was really hard time for me, but because of my commitment to her and our relationship I took it and worked out with her (by ignoring it and letting it go for the most part) because I love her and I understood that that’s not who she really ie in my mind and the majority of the times (3 Year relationship)
But for the last two weeks she has been in what I would consider her worst episode similar but more severe than before. I wanna seriously note that it that has been significantly worse to a major degree than the previous one. I should note that we are living together now rather than seeing each other weekly like during the first episode, so there is a lot more opportunity for contact verbally, and etc..
Multiple different times upon low amounts of drinking, but also upon sobriety, she said, unspeakable things to me regarding deeply personal things. Things I’ve only spoken to her about things that you that if anyone else had said to me, I would immediately end any relationship or a friendship with any other person, but I recognize that it was the beginnings of this sort of episode.
She initially denied that it was anything to do with her mental health, and that it was completely my fault, but after a week or so, and me repeating to her what she had said, in this moment, she admitted she needed to re-raise her meds (which helped last time) for the time being and focus more on Getting better when she wasn’t doing well at this time.
Hearing this, and a admission, the other night of her being scared of her self, and what she’s capable of verbally was extremely relieving and validating to me as it can feel like I’m being blamed and gaslit. However, often on, she goes back-and-forth between there are only few moments of clarity like that, and most other moments where she says that having me there is the thing that’s causing her mental health to be bad, and that if I was only gone (For however period of time she needs…not broken up). That she should and would feel better. She claims she needs space from me to “work on herself”. Okay, fair.
She has said these sort of things before and I never ever leave because she takes it back last minute and I always stay there and take it and forgive her no matter what she says, but with the things that have happened in this episode, the things she said this last two weeks l, I feel as if it’s crossed a line for me and I feel like there needs to be some sort of not only accountability but that i do have the ability and strength to leave for a little while. Even though I know she’s not well and doesn’t understand what she’s even doing to me, But she still human being in a relationship and need to take some sort of responsibility for it and I’m a human being that can only be pushed so far too. I want to be clear going forward that I do NOT want to break up with her and that I love her with all my heart.
But Tonight for the first time I actually left when she screamed at me to do so, and I spent the night at a male friends house in order to give her the “space & peace she needed” to get better
But, When she realized I would follow through with what she was threatening me with and her demanding i do, she began to say I was abandoning her, and that I was being a horrible boyfriend by leaving her and by not staying in experiencing it with her. I have many times already physically & emotionally stayed with her while she’s done this to me but after it’s over, I’m so relieved that it’s done that I never ever really hold her accountable for the things she says, and does during the these periods (Specifically two major ones)
I am currently staying at a friends house, and I plan on staying here for at least two or three days, but I am concerned that this will only make it worse. This will make her feel abandoned, and this will make her worse and hate me more than she already feels like she does because of her current state , but as a human being myself, I needed a break from the torment of the verbal abuse and emotional abuse that she throws at me whenever she gets angry or anxious and lashes out.
Am I in the wrong here? What should I do? What should I do to help her through this episode that I know only time will resolve when she simultaneously blames me for causing it when I’m there and blames me for not being a good boyfriend when I’m not there Again, this is the first time I’ve ever not actually been there for more than a 20 min walk and it’s been less than 24 hours in.
Any advice or help from someone who has been in a similar situation or experienced this before please comment or DM. I only want to do what’s best for her while maintaining my own mental sanity

I've been posting on the dedicated threads recently, about my recent sense of achievement on my results, and I thought that I could create a bigger post with an overview of my progress so far. Brace yourselves, it's probably going to be a long post. Sorry in advance. The beginnings:
I actually started weightlifting at the beginning of 2018. I was fresh out of my PhD, where I had gained 10kgs thanks to a burnout and anti-depressant medication. This was followed by a bad breakup where I lost those 10kgs in one month as I just could not eat. I went from 55kgs to 65kgs at my heaviest, back to 55 kgs. While in the end, I was happy to be back at what I considered my regular weight, I was very much skinny fat: https://i.imgur.com/5dJPvCt.jpg
In April 2018, I enrolled in the gym next to my new job. Started with a short program for my back paired with a few cardio classes, then transitionned to weightlifting, following PHUL(power, hypertrophy, upper lower, 4 days a week). At the time, I had gone back to 58kgs after a month with my parents and wanted to go back to 55kgs, so I was cutting and eating 1600 cal a day.

Then, I suffered an overuse injury in my hip, and everything went to hell. Combined with Covid, moving to a different country, doing online classes and project to try to shift carreers, I neglected a bit the gym.
2022-2023: 11 months of treating the gym like a job
In July 2022, coming back from our holidays, I decided I wanted to focus again on weight lifting after weighing myself at 63 kgs, which was really close to my all time heaviest. At started back on a cut, aiming for 1500 cal a day and at least 100g proteins (but really aiming for 120g), going to the gym 4 days a week with my trusted PHUL, without being able to squats because of my old hip injury which never really healed and liked to flare up for no reason.
I tried to be cautious, but still injured my shoulders along the way, so I had periods where I focused more on legs, and others where I focused more on upper body, depending on which part of my body needed extra nursing. From july 2022 to end of september 2022, I went back to 58 kgs. At some point in the middle, I started to add stationary bike everyday and it really helped me shed the weigh faster.
In October, we moved to a different town. For one month, the kitchen was split in two apartments, so we ate out a lot of the time and I stopped tracking calories, still going to the gy, thinking that it would be a good opportunity to lean bulk.
It wasn't a lean bulk. It wasn't dramatic, but between this and the end of the year, I ended up taking a month out of the gym in December and went back to 61.5 kgs at the beginning of January 2023. I decided that to ease back into my routine, I would start by going back to the gym and count my calories, without restricting. Trying to go for 2 months of maintenance, before going for 3 months of cut for summer.
I was kind of disapointed at first as after 2 months of what should have been a recomp, I didn't really looked different, but I kept on going. Mid January, I invested in a fitbit watch, and it really helped me be more active in general by encouraging me to walk my 10 steps a day, logging my water and food consumption and be more mindful of my sleep hygiene.
I effectively maintained at 61.5kg in January and February, eating at 2100 cal a day. In March, I cut to 1500 cal a day, started doing 45 minutes of stationary bike after each gym session and the weight just dropped like a stone. I was thinking that it was a bit too quick, so Iauthorized myself to eat a bit more, upping at 1700 to 1800 most of the days for the 2 next months, and ended my cut a few days ago at 58 kgs:

I now have: What I did:
I took a bit of time to find my preferred program and frequency for the gym, but ultimately, I settled down on a Pull/Push/Legs split, going to the gym 6 days a week. This one specifically
Now, I usually spend 30 minutes warming up and doing mobility exercises to minimize the risks of injuries, then for the first big lift of the day, I would make a pyramide to work up to ny working weight to the day and warm up the joints for the specific moves. Except for a few occasions where the ego lift got the better of me, it's worked pretty well to help me lift injury free since I started doing that. However, I end up spending at least 2 hours just for the lifting session, which is followed then by my 45min to 1h15min (depending on the series I watch during my bike session) of cardio. Definitely too much time and I need to find a way to cut a bit of time. Now that I am not cutting anymore, I am cutting the cardio: not everyday, and not for as long.
My lifts have progressed, even thought I was cutting and I am now at:
- Benchpress: 42.5 kgs for 5*5 reps
- OVH press: 27.5 kgs for 5*5 reps
- Deadlifts: 75 kgs for 5*5 reps
- Squats: 40 kgs for 5*5 reps
- Pull ups: can rep 4 strict pull ups
My squats are very weak compared to my other lifts, but because of old injuries from 2018, I had been unable to squat pain free for years, even with just my body weight, so I am actually very happy with this number. Now that I am eating more, I hope it will go up and catch up with the others.
Nothing really impressive, but I am quite proud and stronger than I've ever been.
What I learned/Impact:
Tracking my weights, calories and heart rate in addition to my menstural cycle haa been eye opening to me on the impact my cycle has on me.
For example: Weight loss and period Resting heart rate and period
When I started doing cardio, my resting heart rate dropped dramatically. However, when it started rising again, I was worried and thought that I was overtraining or something. Turns out, not only do I have water retention around my ovulation and periods, my resting heart rate is also very much cycling and is at its lowest at the end of my period and at its highest a few days before them. And I don;t even know why I was surprised. A week before my period, I am always plagued by fatigue and spend just so much time in bed! Turns out it's not just in my head, or me being lazy. I actually have physical symptoms that explains it.
I have also learned to work around my injuries to keep training, while leaving my problematic joints/muscles resting, which helped me be more consistent and i think it really helped with the results I can see now. I have lost of little painful things that are slowly starting to disappear:
- the sole of my left foot was really painful and prevented me to run for the longest of time: now that I do calf raises without using my hands to stabilize my self, my left ankle that I had strained a few years ago is getting stronger and this pain has disappear.
- my hyperlaxed wrists are finally strong enough for me to do push ups where i was previously able to hurt myself carying the laundry or brushing my hair.
- as mentionned. earlier, I can finally squat pain free after years of instant pain each time I would attempt a body weight squat.
- I used to have worrying chest pain where I would be unable to take deep breaths without pain, which looked to me like I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder that would run through my whole chest (medical exams didn't show anything): now that my chest and back have more muscles, i haven't feel this in months).
And finally, of course: My confidence is through the roof. I'm very happy with the way I llok right now and very happy with the sun allowing me to finally only wear minishorts and crop tops XD.
It's been a week since the end of the cut. I'm aiming to eat 2000 to 2100 calories a day, still going to the gym 6 days a week for 1h30/2h00 and scaling back on the stationary bike to only 35 minutes maybe everyother day. My weight is already up to 59kgs, but I'm guessing it's just the water retention of eating more carbs and more in general. If I maintain at 59kg for the next months, it will be good enough for me. At the end of summer, I'll try to bulk again until march of next year for a new cut and I hope bigger muscles for next summer :).

Anyways, it’s extremely inconvenient for me to get to a subway station and the shoppers that’s closest to me is a little out of the way. I don’t like renewing my pass online because it takes 4-24 hours to load and I just want peace of mind that I have my pass for the first day of the month. So on May 31st, I went out of my way to make sure I hit up a kiosk to ensure that I would have my pass for the next day and the operator guaranteed that my funds would be there instantly since I uploaded it at a kiosk. WRONG. I had about $11 previously from a GO train trip I took and I noticed that when I tapped that those funds were being taken out and not my monthly pass. When I contacted presto I was met with an extremely rude customer service rep that said that I would have to “find time or make time to upload additional funds to your account” so that they can work on a technical issue with my card. I advised that I had already spent the $156, I went out of my way to get to a kiosk because I knew in advance that I wouldn’t have the time to get to a kiosk and my work hours are really long so I really don’t have time for that. I don’t know, it’s just frustrating, it’s already the 6th of the month and my card still isn’t working when I tap.

Youkai: Supernatural beings typically born from humanity's fear of the unknown, and the primary residents of Gensokyo. Youkai can be highly varied, but tend to be highly resistant to physical attacks while far more weak to spiritual attacks, such as names and traditions.
Gensokyo: Genoskyo is the region Touhou takes place in, and is a small landlocked region of Japan. It is fully enclosed by the Great Hakurei Barrier (more information bellow). The clearest picture of it shows it containing a few mountains, with it also being noted Gensokyo is small enough to see almost all of it from the Hakurei shrine
Urban Legend Incident: Due to the occult balls various Urban Legends begin to manifest in Gensokyo, and some characters are capable of controlling an urban legend in battle that matches their tempermant. It's worth noting that the effects are present even after the occult balls are removed from Gensokyo though Reisen notes it will soon settle down.
- The Sages of Genoskyo (of which Yukari is a member) are the beings responsible for the creation and maintenance of Gensokyo
Boundary Manipulation General Description: Summarized, Yukari's power allows her to manipulate the boundary between any two things.This can apply both to physical boundaries (such as between Gensokyo and the outside world), or even the boundary of concepts (such as human and youkai or night and day).

2023.06.06 14:41 Zero_Rebirth Thoughts on the Ranni Questline, One and a Half Years Later
After my most recent playthrough of Elden Ring, I felt like sharing my thoughts on one of my favourite questlines in all of Soulsborne, and this was better than writing into the void that is my notes app
When I did my first run, I stumbled upon this questline by happenstance.
Initially, I joined Ranni out of curiosity more than anything, especially after her disappearance from the Church of Elleh. It led me to fell a Demigod consumed by Rot, plunged me into one of the most breathtaking locales in any game and made me nearly go hollow due to a creature born from the stars. That's not even mentioning the Gargoyles who I initially thought blocked the way out of the Ancestral Woods.
What first started as mere curiousity by the end, made me genuinely feel like I was a part of them, striving towards the same goal. When the time came to down Blaidd, I respec'ed just to face him head on, greatsword to greatsword. Good boy deserved a true warriors death, arguably more so than even Radhan himself.
When the Elden Beast fell, I didn't even care about Lordship, I felt relief for having avenged Blaidd and Iji while helping Ranni tear asunder the system that broke two of the 3 people whom I considered akin to family in the Lands Between.
Now 800+ hours later and more characters than I can count, it's still the most memorable parts of this massive, massive game. Truly a masterpiece
