• VMirai - Brave Group has been recently expanding their reach, including a try in their EN department. I believe all three extant groups have been doing quite well in the last few months, so I'm curiously optimistic about the new projects. EN is a hard market though. Speaking of...

Cries of Crisis, Pangs of Hope

Fall of 2020 was the inflection point of Hololive, the series of crises and the pending restructuring along with the boom of HoloMyth then AREA15 gave an odd form of synergy that made Hololive one of the most robust companies that ever existed. As I said before, the greatest trick Cover has ever pulled is making that poster think 'Hololive is winning by doing nothing.'

Anycolor did not get that single time of epiphany. Not many companies do, but every long-standing termination (because I don't think Raito changed anything) has eventually led to great changes to the company as a whole. Meiro was thought to be the impetus for VTA, which has shown great dividends as we march on to 2023. Ara's rampage directly led to the Great Merger of '22 which was very beneficial at least to KR members who stuck around and some who haven't.
So it should be no surprise Zaion will also point the path to a positive direction for Anycolor, and I think we are seeing the benefits right now, with the coming news.
The fact that NijiEN management was terrible should be no surprise since at least the time of Ethyria, which I have talked at length, and will do again because it was instructive to what kind of failure of EN managment was back in '21/'22. Ethyria was billed as a singing group, kind of like LazuLight, there was an early attempt to do kind of ping-pong between singing and gaming, getting two new gen per audition, but Ethyria was not built to be just a singing group. They were just... too good for that.
Enna Alouette's design is one of the best 'gap' designs in the VTuber world, but with all the fiasco, I seriously wonder if the management just simply had no will to properly see through Enna's facade. Then again, Gibara exists, so I wonder if they just didn't care or did care.
Anyways, early fracas with Ethyria made an impression on me that only grew more true over the years that NijiEN management was oddly pessimistic about the nature of internet communities.
Sidenote - I made a comment about Selen's comment to a delusional poster and at the cost of being incredibly pretentious, it created an opportunity to talk about one of the many ways many observers get Nijisanji 'wrong' so to speak (and there are many reasons why)
One of the common refrains from NijiFans is that 'you should not be obliged to watch everyone', and people think it means that you are supposed to only focus on a few people, but that is not the case.
The point is to focus on all the people, some of the time. As in, you will naturally create a tier-list system of differing priorities in which to watch. At the center will be your oshi, who you will turn to every stream, then around it are their buddies, which you will watch some of the time, and then further around them will be the buddies' buddies, which you will watch once in a blue moon, and then further out you have people you know from tournaments and such and have vague understanding but still feel an appreciation for their talent and hard work.
With that framework, you will come away with at least passing familiarity with every Nijisanji member, at least to the point you can point to an arbitrary Liver and say 'hey, it's so-and-so'.
The whole structure of Nijisanji, which was thankfully copied onto EN with the help of Ethyria, is designed to dissuade people who equate Nijisanji with a monolith group. That's why I mock someone who thinks NijiEN is the only Nijisanji. The point of 'you should not watch everyone' is not to permit people from narrowing their vision but to stop the obsessive nature of EN viewing patterns entirely.
There is a tendency of individualization in the West that leads to high levels of toxicity, because individualization leads to narrowing of people's worldviews, leading to more clashes because you get a larger variation of interpretations of reality, which is actually not a good thing.
This is what should make Nijisanji more robust than Hololive, because Hololive permits more of this individualized obsession, although in truth Hololive has been focusing on integration a lot.
But that is not the case, because do you know who does not understand the sidenote I wrote above? That's right, the NijiEN management. The behavior NijiEN management team did was very much copied from a flawed idea of what they thought made HoloEN and others successful. The narrow focus on 'content' from each gen, from the idea of PuchiLuxiem, to the rapid disinterest in people like Yugo and the great mistake of hiring someone like Zaion, and the slow pacing of allowing foreign collabs.
NijiEN betrayed what made Nijisanji great and it has slowly and surely costed them.
Back in May, I emphasized the off-hand remark that said they merged the oversea management with the local one. I believe this was the easiest and best way to combat this problem. It's like NijiEN is operating abroad, unlike HoloEN, so there is no need to bring people in or hire new people.
And the fruits of this secret merger is coming out with more JP content on the EN official channel and invitation of JP members in Canada, France and Korea, with former Korean members finally attending a convention and also return of former ID people to Muse Indonesia as well. It seems the clock is working again and I believe the things might turn around for the foreign branches... who knows? Maybe ID and KR might be revived and we might get that ID/KR audition after all.
But that is a far stretch, honestly most of it is. But that is par for the course for here, eh?

Here's my short story. I work as marketing manager in a software company. Back in 2020, I decided I have an ambition to pursue further education and enrolled on a 2 year part-time Master's degree in computer science, and also decided to do it independently of my employer. I was sick of marketkng and wanted to break into IT.
When my employer found out they offered to pay for my degree in exchange for me staying with the company for 2 years after I graduate. They offered to give me a significant raise and pay fkr additional training if needed (like AWS certs). It's a small company and the CEO constantly tried to persuade me to take the deal. Finally towards the end of 2021 I accepted the deal, as the boss made me feel special and told me there's a great future in this company for me.
Fast forward to 2023, I started signaling a few months back that I'm just about to finish my degree and I'm thinking about transitioning from marketing to a position in cloud computing or.somethubg more technical, and if there would be a suitable position for me.
I have spoken about it with CEO, COO, CPO and all of them did not have a clear answer for me or any sort of personal development plan I could pursue, they encouraged me to find them a business case so I can transition, but it's difficult when I'm not involved with the technical team.
I can feel I'm not giving my marketing position my 100% now as I'm discouraged with this situation and inability of the senior management to bring something to the table.i wonder if they can sense that...
A month ago my director told me that the policy of the company has changed since I took the deal to get reimbursed for my degree and they decided to wipe out this debt, so ai don't have ti stay with the company for 2 years now, but I'm free.
This has confused the hell out of me, are they telling me I'm shit at my current job and want to get rid of me eventually? Are they telling me to leave voluntarily on my own termsm Are they telling me I can work there in marketing and that's where they see me, and if I don't like it I'm free to leave? Are they sensing how important independence is for me and they don't want to be ither eif I don't want to?
Why would they just waive a few thousand GBP of debt like that?
It's been 3 years with the company now, in these circumstances I feel like I should start thinking about packing bags and putting a plan together for transitioning into an IT role in a different company. What do you think?

I’m 42 and looking to change careers and become an RN.

1. Initially I was focused on getting my BSN at a private school like Stanbridge or West Coast in California. I’ve read bad reviews from both schools but both schools also give me my BSN in 3 years with a hefty fee.
   
2. Go the public school route, take all my pre-reqs which will take a year or a little over a year, then apply to public schools for a 2 or 3 year BSN. Cheaper, maybe better education harder to get into with possible waitlists or lottery system and a longer process.
   

My main concern is my age and I’m worried if I do the public school route it will take longer and by the time I graduate I’ll be around 45/46.
I could also get my ADN , work as an RN and do a bridge program later to get my BSN. But everyone says BSN is better for working at magnet hospitals. I’m in Southern California.
Any advice is much appreciated!

I've been fighting with Google for 2 months as a result of Google's horrible customer relations and partly my fault I've been billed and accidentally paid with auto pay $599 for a Google pixel 5 just black and I'm not talking about in 2020 I'm talking May 2023. In March I had a Google pixel 7 pro I dropped it the day after I got it without the case on a hard floor and broke the back glass. I don't know if anyone's ever done this but I was upset about it even though it will always have a case on it I'll know it's broken. Well it doesn't matter after about a month I was having issues with the charger port and it could only be charged wirelessly I have the phone on the wireless charger and I had to take it out the case to charge better my cat decided she wanted to play with the wire she knocked the phone off onto a dumbbell with two metal weights on it it hit in the screen so perfectly that it destroyed the phone. I had traded in my Google pixel 2 and with some other promotion Verizon was offering it turned out that I had more money in promotions than the phone cost and it is the only reason I got this 7 pro they take a few dollars off my phone bill each month for owning it when I say few I'm talking $2 and change. I solve a regular phone bill and insurance just not a device payment so after breaking I did not want to pay the $200 deductible and started using my old phone which was a Google pixel 5A 5G. One day the screen went black me and my son both tried fixing it with suggestions from YouTube videos careful one of them makes you call 911 and without a screen there's no way to stop it. My son did it twice I did it once. So I call Verizon thinking that the phone was covered under my insurance plan because it said it was on the My Verizon app it's actually says that the 2 plus the 5a and the 7pro were all covered. Anyway I call Verizon to try to get it fixed without a deductible because there is no damage to the phone to phone was in fact replaced right before I got the seven with a refurbished phone. They say no problem they send the next day phone out when I open it up it's a Google pixel 5 black I call them back they say all we are so sorry they send another phone again it's the Google pixel 5 black. Now for people not familiar with Google phones the Google 5A is not like the Samsung series a phone it's more of an in-between in the case of the five the five a has a lot bigger display and some other features the 5A is a superior phone to the five by getting the five I was downgraded. So after receiving this second five I call again they send another phone except this time they were slick they didn't actually send anything so after waiting the two days I called back and they said oh well the order was never processed so they send another phone guess what I get the five again I called back and this was happening because Verizon doesn't sell the five a I don't know if they ever did but I had bought this phone from Google directly and I'm still making payments on it btw. so now I'm very frustrated I call Google Google says the phone's out of warranty even though I'm still making payments on it but the screen going black problem since there was no damage is covered under the extended warranty because it's a known issue. They said take the phone to the local asurion AKA I break you fix. I do this they replace the screen and the battery the phone still doesn't work they said the logic board needs to be changed but they couldn't get it in or something I call Google back they said no problem send them the phone. I send the phone and a few days later I get a letter in the mail saying that the cost of the repair is more than the phone is worth that they would have to send me a refurbished but because the phone was damaged I would have to pay $129. I immediately call them and say what do you mean damaged and they say well did you use our packaging or your own I said my own well it was damaged and shipping was there immediate response I told them no. I have an Etsy business where I sell crystals literal crystals and I shipped them the people all over the country I have never had a product damaged in shipping in a crystal is a lot more delicate than a phone. I explained this to them and I don't know if the employees are told not to listen to the words that the customers are saying or if they just think that all the customers are liars and don't bother to listen but he kept insisting that it must have been damaged during shipping. Now Google apparently doesn't have a way for a different departments to talk so the customer service guy had no way of contacting the people that worked on the phone and asked them what the actual issue was. I asked for manager they reluctantly gave me one after an hour wait I was told the manager call me back the next day two days later I missed a call but they emailed me I emailed them back I finally got to talk to the manager. He told me that back glass was cracked the phone doesn't have a back glass and I must have got damaged during shipping because I didn't use their packaging. After explaining to him that didn't have back glass he finally started believing me a little he said that he was going to talk to the people higher up than him and get it resolved he said that there's no way for me to contact him and higher than him he's the end of the line that he has to plead my case and this was on Friday he said he'd contact me Monday. Well Thursday rolls around I still don't hear from him I contact him back I hear nothing. I then get the phone back in the mail. I opened a packaging and I noticed that the damage you're talking about was it improper ly installed screen I will add a photo of the so-called damage device that got damaged and shipping I'm packaged it so poorly that the phone didn't get cracked at all or broken but the bottom of the screen slightly popped off of the phone are they really expecting me to believe this. So after I tell them that the phone was actually damaged by asurion the people they sent me to the manager that I've been talking to had someone else contact me saying that he was out and that Google was ready to resolve my issue by giving me $25 credit in the Google store. I also got a separate email saying that Google store was lowering my credit from $1,500 to $200. Now this is a total coincidence I'm sure even though I've bought a 300 doller smart watch ,phones ,Chromecast devices all from the Google store on credit and have never missed a payment and have never been late in years but they still lowered my credit limit negatively impacting my credit score by six points. After telling them I'm not happy with this they apologize and tell me that they're sorry but this is the way that Google does business and all the guidelines have been followed in that I cannot contact him again on this or something because the case has been closed. I've never been so disappointed with a company in my life I've had people switch from Samsung more than one to Google after getting the Google pixel 2 XL I loved that phone and it saddens me that I will never get to use another Google pixel device because I will never buy one again I will never buy anything from Google again normal any of my immediate or extended family so they've lost thousands of dollars because they wanted $129 to fix a phone that their partner company broke on me. Oh and here's the kicker I go back to you fix I break last week and the location that I went to that had all the information in the repair person that worked on my phone is gone. They closed the damn location down I contacted asurion corporate office and waiting for a response from The resolution team. And the reason I said that it cost me $599 is because I still have the Google pixel 5 that they had sent me because I know other device to use Verizon told me I can use the device until I resolve this issue with Google then I had to ship this device or the 5A back to them but I had to give them a phone back that has no physical damage. Verizon reluctantly refunded the $599 that they took out of my bank account after I turned off auto payments and I only bounced my car insurance payment that automatically comes out the day after because it took 3 days to get the money back into the account the best part is I didn't know this until I got a letter in the mail saying my insurance was about to be canceled. I'm not saying like most of society would that that is Google's fault it is mine I was negligent in keeping up with my account balances and because of that almost lost my insurance. I would have been able to get it back but probably not at the same rate and if there was a lapse in coverage I probably would have had to have the vehicle inspected by them before they would cover it fully again. I'm really disappointed and surprised that the disrespect by Google technical team and customer service is treated me. And the way they told me well this is how we do business go kick rocks. I said somewhere in this book of a message that I would add photos I didn't realize at that time that I could not add photos to this community I apologize.

Mom's been showing symptoms for 10+ years, in memory care facilities since 2020. Vascular dementia. She has no quality of life - just laying around mostly, unable to talk, walk, or stand. She mostly just stares in a near catatonic state. I'm afraid of how long she may linger this way.
I feel so terrible and selfish for wanting her to pass but I'm exhausted with having to manage all her finances and deal with different facilities, hospice, insurance, caretakers, Medicaid, adjusting to every new change with this crap disease. It is a constant worry. I would write more but I don't have the energy.

Last Friday, I picked up my dog up from daycare in my 2020 Toyota Tacoma, and then traveled 6-7 hours to visit my family for the weekend and Memorial Day holiday.
Before I started my trip, though, I got in my first ever accident (I’m 30 years old, nothing on my record). As we were leaving the daycare (my dog was in the passenger seat), I looked both ways to ensure no cars were coming toward me, and I turned left out of the entrance/exit. I began driving forward and a few seconds later I noticed a car that I believe came from behind in my lane and began driving next to me on the right side against the curb. I was shocked and slowed down, but he kept going and his rear driver side ended up hitting my passenger front side/bumper, creating a dent, broken plastic, and scratches on my paint. By the end of it, he was in front of me.
We both pulled over, I looked at my damage, we talked, and I suggested we call the police. He had minor paint damage, but nothing in comparison to me. He even stated his car was old and he cared nothing about it really, and it just gets him where he needs to go (basically, he didn’t seem to be bothered by the accident).
The policeman arrived, and eventually he questioned us each separately as to our testimony of the incident. I felt nervous as I was upset about the damage and it being my first accident, so I’m not exactly sure I remember all I said in the moment, but I know I started from the beginning and mentioned the turn, then I immediately felt like he was laser focused on that and he asked “Which way? Left or right?”, to which I responded, but he really didn’t give me much time to explain the whole story and basically from what the other diver claimed, they’re trying to say that I didn’t “yield to oncoming traffic,” or that I just pulled out and hit the back of his car while he was driving past. This is also insinuated in the police report from his paraphrasing of what he believes my testimony was.
This is not how it happened at all, and I’ve stated that multiple times to my insurance, but the only evidence they have to go off of is the report, and I’ve been in touch with the same officer since, and he just keeps on saying for me to go to court and he’s not willing or he “can’t” change what was written, as it’s too late.
I’ve paid for a lawyer through an app called “Off The Record,” and I explained all the details to him, but my case is still under review and I’ve not heard back yet (it’s only been a day at this point, so maybe I’ll still receive something soon).
Does anyone have any advice, though? Do you think I have a chance to get it dismissed or keep my record clean? Based on the report and location of damages, they truly think I’m at fault when I’m honestly not. I’ve tried seeing if I can get camera footage of the nearby area, too, but it doesn’t seem like there is any.

Back in June 2020, I had my first seizure at home, during the worst of the pandemic. The day just started with what I think was 4 hours sleep (I was also on my period at the time, which didn't help things), and what I thought was me sitting with my mom on the other couch watching TV didn't happen. I seized (my head destroyed a plastic trash can when I fell but I didn't get hurt from that), then got sent off to the hospital alone, and I essentially started at the hospital walls until I was told it was ok for me to watch the TV there. I didn't even eat until the evening and it didn't even occur to me until around the time I was able to look at screens again.
I've gone through a few different meds over time, and have only most recently had my last 2 seizures in July and August 2021, respectively.
I dont also still dealing with small, brief panic/anxiety attacks often lately (usually in the mornings and at work) and I always have to keep worrying about anyone or anything triggering seizures because of a fear of some random screw-up. I haven't had a seizure in about a year and a half but still. It also doesn't help having very certain, unsupportive family members. 😔

Perot still runs and loses in 1996, but several down-ballot candidates are successful. Presidential races between then and now don’t change, but Reform party candidates are successful enough that by 2017, Reform Party members hold an average of 15% of all legislative seats and at least six governorships are Reform.
Efforts to balance the budget are taken a little more seriously. While Reform Party believed in spending cuts, they wouldn’t have a problem with raising revenue through closing tax loopholes.
Most of Trump’s SCOTUS nominees don’t make it. McConnell would be unable to get them to go along with holding a seat hostage for a year if Reform joined with Democrats to force a hearing and nomination. They along with the Democrats are overall horrified by Trump and the rise of the MAGA cult. 2020 also sees their biggest gains in Congress and at the state level thanks to disaffected Republicans who don’t want to vote for a MAGA cultist, but still can’t bring themselves to vote for a Democrat.
Between Democrats and Reformists, they have a 3/4 majority across the land and they agree to make election reform a priority (something the Reform Party wanted OTL). By 2023, the following amendments are approved:
28th: Direct presidential elections and the end of the Electoral College.
29th: Ranked-choice voting made mandatory. This and the 28th eliminates presidential elections being thrown to Congress.
30th: House seat apportionment determined by the population of the smallest state. Ex: WY is smallest in 2020 Census (579K). States will get a House seat for every 579K residents.
31st: States shall implement independent, nonpartisan commissions to draw electoral districts for federal, state, and local elections. Gerrymandering becomes much harder to do. States that fail to do this will have their districts redrawn by a nonpartisan Federal entity of nine members, with three nominated by the President, Speaker of the House, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. All three must agree to the members.
32nd: Election Timelines. Election Day moved to the first Saturday in November. General election campaigning shall not commence until the second Monday in September. Primary election campaigning shall not commence until the second Monday in May and all primary elections must be completed by the second Monday of August.

This Presidential election is looking to be a choice between two terrible options... I will outline all of my demographics followed by my thoughts and I would really like to hear some alternative opinions because as a regular ass voter, I see nothing but terrible options from the two parties and I am starting to feel like I am the only one who sees that the current political landscape is a total shit show.
Demographics: Ethnicity: Caucasian Gender: Male Age: 35 Occupation: Military Officer Education: BS (it was a bullshit degree but also a bachelor of science) Relationship: Married (divorced once but I deserved it. I was a total shithead the first time) ... happy to provide any other demographics but at the end of the day I am a regular American with a regular salary, a regular job, a regular everything else.
Biden Let me start off by admitting that I was wrong about this guy. I voted for him in the last election because I felt like President Trump was unstable as fuck and presidential policy should not be posted on social media or be based on how one man is feeling that particular day. Biden promised a lot, I didn't expect much from him, to be honest, but I had hoped that we would at least get a president who was able to fill the role at a basic level. I was not looking for Teddy Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln. I was simply hoping for a President who would show up to work, have a reasonable foreign policy, who would put some pressure on the corporations and their CEOs making millions of dollars, and who would address the issues that the majority of Americans were dealing with like student loans, health care, unfair taxes, and loopholes that benefit the 1% and fuck the 99%. End of the day I was hoping that he would look out for the 99 and not the 1%. So far we have got some good and bad in terms of policy... he got us out of the war in the middle east even though that was completely fucked up... poor planning... total rush to failure. Thank God that more people were not killed or injured and God bless those service members who sacrificed all for this shitty plan, they were patriots and I am thankful every day that we have Americans like them willing to "stand the watch." He got some relief for parents who could use the help financially when times were tough during covid but he totally fucked it up when he fumbled the ball when it came to supporting the unions like the rail workers, amazon, etc, he fucked up student debt relief (we shouldn't ONLY forgive loans...we need to address the outrageous price tag on education in addition to the loans)... He appointed Mayer Pete who had one job as Transportation Secretary and totally fucked that up by prioritizing his image over actually dealing with airline travel (I am a pilot so a bit read in on this topic... he screwed the pooch on this one), trains, and the supply chain.... he also has been a bit short sided on Ukraine support.... (Ukraine deserves independence but there needs to be an explanation of what we are getting as taxpayers for our money... Please explain to me what the return on investment is for the billions we are spending. I do not have an issue with spending our tax dollars on helping make the world a better place but I need to know how my $50B+ is making a difference before you spend it.) Also his sons.... Beau was a naval officer who allegedly did a bunch of drugs.... should have been booted out of the military and Hunter absolutely took dirty money and it was all covered up. President Biden may not have been involved in any of that but at the end of the day, all of the sins of his sons were covered up for the benefit of their father.
Trump As a white male military officer, I thought I was definitely a Republican before this guy came into office. I mean come on, I was basically their prime demographic. At least that is what I was told my whole adult life. I was unsure when he was elected as I thought this was a publicity stunt. Then he put "Mad Dog" Mattis in office as the Sec Def and I thought "America, Fuck YEA!" he had a bunch of crazy ass tweets and I wrote most of them off because I trusted that General Mattis and the rest of the cabinet would keep the country on the right track. And then he fired Mattis. This was the point when I realized this dude is a sociopath who only cared about being "right". He gave no fucks about what the correct decision was... all he wanted was to be "right." The most respected military General since Colin Powel was fired/resigned from the office of Sec Def under President Trump.... This was shocking. But who knows what happened behind closed doors.... perhaps this was for the best. Then the election and Jan 06. And since then this dude has been the sorest loser I have ever seen. It has been 3 years and he is still talking about how the election was stolen and if you disagree with him he will blackmail you into agreeing with him or he will support your opposition candidate. Fuck this dude. That is not how democracy works..... I do not disagree with his foreign policy as a military officer... He made some solid decisions regarding China and his critique of NATO was not completely incorrect. He said things and made decisions that others were afraid to say and do and I was into it but he also said and did things that was I absolutely not into... if you want America's help then there has to be some benefit to the American taxpayer... if you want to fuck around and find out with OPEC and your pilot students shooting up an American Military Base... then enjoy fighting your wars with Iran on your own.... I full-heartedly believe that the American Tax Payer should see a return on investment for their taxes but President Trump seems to only actually give a shit about his own personal gain. Let's not be naive, his son-in-law totally got paid off by Mohammed bin Salman. He 100% had the support of the Putin regime. He gave himself and his buddies tax breaks that he did not afford the 99%. He said a lot of crazy shit. This guy is nuts and doesn't give two shits about the 99%. He will gladly give you a MAGA hat for your donation but when it comes to actual policy, he has shown that he will take your money, put some in his own pocket, some in the pockets of his friends, and then give you just a little bit back so that you feel like you got the good end of the deal.....The average American made much less than the 1%... he gave you some back in covid relief to make you forget that you were getting royally fucked.
I am not running for president but if I was this would be my platform... in other words, this would be the platform that I wish we could vote for!

• National policies
  • Politicians are public servants - Elected officials are elected to serve the American public, not themselves. Stop being greedy!
    • If you hold a political office, you are allowed to only buy the total US stock market index. -This would force politicians to be financially vested in the US economy and prevent them from insider trading with specific companies.... if you want to serve in public office you need to sacrifice some autonomy. No one should use political office to benefit themselves personally. You were elected to enrich the lives of your constituent, not your own personal net worth.
    • Term Limits - Congress and Senate should not be allowed to serve more than 10 years.
    • Lobbyists - Lobbyists serve a purpose or so am I told but they should not be allowed to contribute any money at all to any political agenda.... period. Nothing. They can voice their opinions like any other voter but that is it.
    • There should be a public fund to pay for political campaigns. That fund should be standard for each candidate. They all get the same amount. I am not certain what the right move here is but it is not currently an equal playing field. Someone from the lowest rungs of the socioeconomic ladder against someone from the top run should have the same chance. The candidate with the policies that best represent the people they stand for should win.
  • Abortion
    • This is a state issue. Allow states to vote on their own policy..... if California wants to allow abortion then let them. If Georgia wants to ban abortion then let them... If you live in a state that does not share your personal beliefs on this then you are welcome to move and become a resident of another state that does share those same principles. There is no reason why every state needs to be the same. Some can be conservative, others can be liberal. Use your vote to voice your opinion in your individual state elections. This should not be a federal decision.
  • Taxes
    • Taxes should be fair - There is no logical reason why Warren Buffet or the rest of the 1% should pay less than 99%. - Close the tax loopholes that allow the wealthy to pay less taxes than the average American. A consumption tax is the most practical policy here although it does unfairly tax lower income until you begin to factor in luxury taxes. I am cognizant that there is not an easy solution to this issue but that does not mean it is impossible. Cap taxes for basic necessities like food, utilities, housing (Under $1M for 1st house), and vehicle (under $100k) at 0%. Elevate taxes for luxury items (houses over $1M, second homes, Vehicles over 100K, personal jets, restaurants, etc) to 25%, and everything else at a flat 10% sales tax. Adjust income taxes to reflect average incomes and tax the lowest 50% at 0-15%, tax the top 25% of income at 15-20%, and tax the top 25% at 20-25%. Capital gains tax remains the same as that is an equal playing field... you hold the stock for 365 days or more and only pay 15%....This may or may not be the best tax policy but at least it is considerate of those who need the tax relief most. The more you spend on nonessentials the more taxes you pay. I am definitely open to some conversation/deviation here but this is a hell of a lot more fair than what we currently have and a consumption tax also generates some tax income for travelers and illegal migrants who currently do not pay any taxes but often receive free or reduced healthcare over tax-paying Americans (looking at you California).
  • Immigration
    • This is a core tenant of our nation. We need an immigration policy that protects our citizens but also allows others to come to this country to contribute to our success. There is a tough balance here to navigate but not impossible. Let's fund the applicable departments and ensure they have highly qualified agents to sort those who would add value to our nation and those who would cause problems. We have the most robust intelligence apparatus in the world. I am sure that if we focus our attention on external threats instead of internal threats we could figure out who to recruit to our team and who to pass on, all while making our country more productive and safe.
  • Education
    • This is a big one... Our children are our future... and we are failing them! Parents get 4 years with their kids before they head off to start school. That is the last time that we get 100% of their attention before they start receiving input from other adults and peers. We are doing them a disservice by not recruiting the best and brightest to mold them into tomorrow's workforce. Teaching is like every other career field. If we paid teachers the same as we paid CEOs, athletes, celebrities, etc. We would get more applicants than we would know what to do with. We could then choose the best and brightest to spend 8 hours a day teaching our children to invent the next best thing.... Obviously, we cannot as a nation afford to pay every teacher $25M a year but you get the point. Let's make a starting salary for a teacher $100k and choose the best applicants to teach our children. Teachers should be the best of society and should be regarded as such.....
    • Now let's talk about college. A college degree is overrated as fuck currently. A bachelor's degree from a state school should not cost you more than what you make for the first 5 years of working. There needs to be a cap on what colleges can charge. It's great that we are looking into student loan repayment and I absolutely think that we need to help even the scales there but first, we need to stop the bleeding. A college degree from a state school receiving federal funding should not cost a student more than $50k for a 4-year degree. If you want to go to a private school then you are all on your own but let's give everyone an option to go to school for a reasonable price. We should not have to spend our lives repaying a loan for education. This is only going to discourage young men and women from attending these storied institutions. It is criminal what these schools are charging.
  • Healthcare
    • First, let me start out by saying fuck all of these people at the top. I am looking at the corporate fat cats, the insurance companies, the Sacklers. Healthcare is out of control even worse than education. We need to put limits on what they can charge, limits on what medications cost, and very strong quality assurance in the FDA to make sure that these drug companies are not poisoning us. Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. We all deserve quality healthcare. Make it happen POTUS.
  • Equal Opportunity
    • Everyone deserves equality of opportunity... not equality of result. We all deserve the ability to succeed but success should not be given just because of our race/gendeethnicity/sexual orientation/economic resources. I personally do not care what color you are, what gender you are, or what you like to do with your free time. I only care about what you contribute. Black, Brown, White, or any other color of the rainbow, gay, straight, or anything in between, none of it matters. All that does actually matter is results and we should all have the same opportunity to succeed regardless of the details because, at the end of the day, we are all people striving for a "more perfect union"!
  • Defense
    • Completely UNSATISFACTORY that the Pentagon cannot pass an audit. We talk about our defense spending like it's a badge of honor but there is no mention of the efficiency of our tax dollars. If we give the DOD $2T then we should know what our return on investment is! The budget should not increase for defense spending until the DOD can pass an audit. This is Ludacris! I see fraud, waste, and abuse daily but there is nothing that can be done about it. We do not need to spend millions of dollars on a base right next to another base because they are "historic." We do not neet do complete training exercises spending thousands of dollars per hour just to say that we have done the thing that we will never actually do in war. There is absolutely no reason we need to pay millions of dollars for program overruns just because have already contributed so much to that project. We need to hold the DOD and the defense contractors accountable and to be honest we need to account for every penny that is spent.... With that said, Veterans have sacrificed a lot and we owe it to them as a country to compensate them and ensure that they are taken care off after they have sacrificed their future for the good of the republic. Many of our veterans will live much shorter lives than their civilian counterparts due to their service and the least we can do is ensure that their sacrifice is noticed and compensated for. How much is a year of your life worth? Ask yourself that next time you think veterans shouldn't receive healthcare or disability after their service is complete.
    • Conscription..... this one is going to be controversial so buckle up.... I think every VOTING American should be required to contribute to the nation as a whole. This does not necessarily mean military service although this is inside of my "defense" bullet. But think about it for just a moment. If you first two years out of high school you were required to contribute to the public good, either through military service or through social service. You could be a bus driver, firefighter, work for public parks, or for your county. There are infinite ways to serve your local community. You serve your community, draw a reasonable paycheck, learn a skill, and earn the right to vote. You are giving back to the society that you are a member of and getting a skill and a couple of years to mature before being sent off into the world on your own. We could tie education benefits to this in a similar fashion to the way the military does. If you give two years to public service then you get two years of state college paid for....If you decide that you absolutely do not want to contribute to your nation then that is fine, we will not arrest you or revoke your citizenship, you just will not be afforded the opportunity to have an opinion on policy as you have no skin in the game. You don't get to vote until you contribute.
• Foreign policy
  • Russia - They are bullies.... We have been the world police since the end of WW2 and this needs to change. Every country needs to take some ownership of its own sovereignty, however, like the comics say "With great power, comes great responsibility." We, as the dominant world power, have an obligation to balance the scales. Russia needs to stop picking on the weak and if the weak cannot defend themselves then it is our obligation to assist them but that does not mean that we need to fight the battle for them. Ukraine has done a great job of standing up for itself but the rest of Europe needs to continue to provide support in this war if they care about the outcome. End of the day, Russia is a dying country and we only really need to wait them out. We should not buy their exports, we should not sell them our exports, and we should make it very clear that we will evaluate our relationship with any country that does not feel the same way we do.
  • China - They WERE a rising power. China is doing its best to continue to the illusion that they are rising to the top but at the end of the day they do not have the internal infrastructure or resources to become the dominant world power. They would like the world to view them as pacifists but in reality, they are antagonists. Their actions within the "9-dash line" make it very clear what they want. They want security. Once they have that security then they want influence. But they cannot possibly hold that security or influence for very long if they continue to be opposed in their values to the USA and our allies. USA, Japan, and Australia alone pose a significant challenge to China's power for as long as we remain united. That does not even factor in the other allies that the US has in the region like the Philippines, or India who both pose significant defense challenges to CCP. Our policy towards China should be "Play nice or you don't get to play at all." This policy will be painful for us as we may have to pay more for some of our consumer goods but it will be even more painful for them if they do not play along. We hold all the cards for as long as we are willing to sacrifice just a little. The POTUS should just be honest with us and we will as a nation, will understand. "We will have to pay more for some things but in the long run the world will be better off because we held strong to our ideals and the world will be a more fair place."
  • Ukraine - Happy to send them aid but that aid should have an audit. Let's make sure that the money and equipment we are sending them is going to the place we intend for it to be sent. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
  • NATO - NATO is necessary until the remnants of the USSR are completely destroyed... but the other members of NATO need to hold up their end of the bargain and POTUS needs to hold Europe's feet to the fire until they pony up what they agreed to. End of the day the USA's sovereignty does not need NATO to exist to remain whole. We have all the resources we need and are well-defended. There is no need for us to defend them for the sake of trade anymore. NATO needs us more than we need them so if they would like to continue to receive the benefits of our alliance then they need to make it worth our while and it's POTUS's job to ensure that happens.

There are a lot of other policies that we can go through here and no POTUS is going to have all the answers (that's why he or she needs a strong cabinet). I hope that there is some discussion started here... but at the end of the day.... the two candidates that we are likely looking at are both unfit. We deserve some quality candidates and not the old crazy reality TV star and the Old washed-up politician with a terrible VP. Give me someone reasonable to vote for, please!

On the morning of Friday March 13th 1998, at exactly 8:13 AM I was born into this world. The same morning I was delivered my dad left on a work trip, he was flying first class for the first time as well. Unfortunately I never got to meet him as my father was never seen again after he left the airport.
My mother was always very paranoid ever since I remember; she always got more paranoid around my birthday, specifically on the years that it was on a Friday. We actually moved multiple times because around my birthday, and it was only ever on the years that it happened on the 13th. Thinking back I was always kind of bullied about my father and my mother was never mentally stable after he didn't return. This specific year in 2020 my mother called me home for a birthday celebration. She was off-sounding like very, as if in danger or worried about danger. I thought of it as nothing less than her missing my father and started to pack my bags.
The flight I took was something like a 3 hour flight which gave me time to listen to music while on the flight. At this point in time as a single male adult I wouldn't have to worry about any introductions or anything of the sort, I was very thankful for that because my mother didn't really like new people. When I moved for my new job I was never really concerned with her feelings, and I was really also glad to get out of there finally.
I woke up not long before the flight landed, I was very confused as I was never one to fall asleep on a flight. I was also nearly never able to sleep with music on, this time I had somehow slept through both of them though. As I stepped out of the airport my mother pulled up to the front in the same old family car she drove when I left. I opened the back and put in all my things, when I closed the back and went to the front for the first time since I left this awful place I felt like I was being watched. Getting back to see my mother was great and all, but the way she was acting left me feeling uneasy as if it was all a forced act somehow.
As we arrived back at the old family home all of the paranoia, which I at the time thought was jet lag was now clearing up. I was glad to be back home. I brought all of my things in and went upstairs to put all of my things away and get ready for the dinner my mother had cooked for me earlier in the day. I changed and even put on cologne for my mother knowing that she would be glad to have another dinner with me after the years I had been gone.
The dinner went great and eventually we both got tired and decided to call it a night. Mom had a room downstairs while I slept upstairs, and in the very bottom wall of my room where there should have been a vent cover there was a relatively small hole in the wall. I remembered this because as a child I always swore I had seen a pair of eyes looking at me through the hole in the wall, and I also always ran to my mother for help when I was scared. This night was no different sleeping on the small bed as when I looked the same eyes stared at me through the hold not blinking, not even once for a single second. I looked up realising it could have just been my eyes playing tricks, but as I looked back the eyes had seemed to move closer than before almost sticking out of the hole now. I ran to the door as fast as I could grabbing onto the handle trying to turn it, but the door was locked even though there was not a lock on it anywhere. I turned around almost 100% sure I would be met by the eyes but my sight was so much worse. I turned around looking to see my mother mangled, hanging from the ceiling on a narrow pipe that was barely sturdy enough to hold her weight. The sight must have gotten to me as I passed out. I woke up this morning on the side of the road with nothing except for my phone and my clothing. I didn't know the area I was in, or at least I didn't think I did. My mom wasn't in front of me, and everything was different. When I did look at my phone I noticed one thing, the year no longer read 2022 it read June 1, 2023. Not only that, I called the police. I called everyone no one has any records of me or my family ever existing. I tried everything and this is my final call for help. Please help me. My name is Daniel Roferman, and I am now apparently 25, I can't find anyone. If anyone knows who I or my family are send me help.
