Not off to a great start. Went to port my number over from Total yesterday to an eSIM, and the activation kept failing with "device is in use on another line" error. Red Pocket swore the issue was on Total's end, Total said Red Pocket. I went so far as to completely deactivate my phone off Total in order to make Red Pocket happy (which makes zero sense because the phone needs to be active for the port/activation to succeed as far as I know), but still got the error.
Lots of back and forth, Red Pocket support decided to port my number to a dummy SIM on their end, and then would move it to eSIM. The port worked, but they could not get it moved to eSIM. I was told "IT" would have to look at it, and it would be 24-48 hour before they even got to it, with no ETA for resolution. My line was now activated on a physical SIM that I didn't have access to.
So this morning I went out and bought a physical SIM at Target (for 9.99!!!) because you know, I sort of need my phone for things. Activation failed on the website. Contacted support again, they were thankfully able to get it activated.
I asked for some compensation for the SIM card I was forced to buy, as well as the downtime without my phone. I was told nope, sorry.
Just wondering if this was a fluke or if this is just the way it is? I have another phone to port over but I may just port out to something else if this is how it's going to be. I don't expect working with MVNO's to be perfect, but this is a bit much for me.

I've (26F) posted here a few times in the past. I'm an ornamental welder fabricator working for a family owned non-union company. We just recently moved to a new location combining with another fab shop in our company. I thought some of my stress would go away after the move, but not all of it.
This sounds so redundant, but it's a big stressor for me at the moment. There's an asshole dinosaur (60sM) that doesn't like me very much. I seriously want nothing to do with this man due to how he has treated me in the past (gaslighting about my work, ripping me a new asshole of a PAPER PLATE that wasn't even mine that I set on his case of Gatorade). His bullshit has seriously affected me and I hate that it has. I feel like I have lost confidence in my work.
Well anyway, at the new shop they put me right next to him again. I was flaming on the inside. He has since then taken it upon himself to hoard important communal tools at this work area. We still have a lot of machinery that needs power, so we are lacking some things necessary for our jobs.
He has put the drill press in his work area. I had to use it for something, and my boss himself moved it over so I can plug it into my extension cord. After I used it he pushed it back to his area. He puts a manual hydraulic bender in his area so I always have to ask him to borrow it and I hate that. He also claimed a shop porta band for himself (it had the old shop name on it, and also now his initials). Something went wrong with the other bandsaw I was using only to find out he did this. The maintenance guy handed me "his" and said he wouldn't fix the broken one rn.
I know he's my coworker and I'm probably blowing this out of proportion. I am so sick of this man and I am very close to leaving. They cut out a lot of ornamental work anyway, so I feel lost not doing the work I usually do. I feel like he is doing this to have some control over me or to keep tabs on me. I fucking hate it. I have to use a drill press and I hope there is one set up at the other end of the shop, or I'll try to use my power drill.

I really doubt it'll happen.
But my biggest issue with Cities Skylines (aside from the graphics being bad, the art design being bad, the performance being bad, the buildings being bad, the mishmashed DLC concepts like locking trams behind snow being bad, the snow being bad, features from basically every DLC being bad, the lighting being bad, the aliasing being bad, and the sound design being bad) is that the gameplay is just plain bad.
My go-to example of how SimCity 2013 excels is Education.

In Vanilla Cities Skylines, without the University DLC:

-Schools create an aura that educates citizens.
-Citizens are not required to physically attend school- they simply have to be able to, in theory.
-Citizens arrive at, and leave, school at complete random. Sometimes staying for years, sometimes never attending for a day.
-At night time, schools are full of raucous children who can be heard playing.
-High Schools function the same as above, except for teens.
-At an arbitrary population milestone completely divested from any sort of education standards, you unlock the University.
-The University is a building the size of a burger king which educates adults into higher education, allowing higher education requirement jobs to be filled.
And that is the extent of school gameplay.

In Vanilla SimCity 2013:

-Schools track how many students the city has and how many are actually attending.
-Physical, in-person attendance matters and if students do not attend, they are not educated.
-Citizens arrive at, and leave, school at set times.
-Schools can be expanded dynamically to increase their classroom count and maximum number of educated students.
-Schools can be expanded dynamically to increase their bus count and maximum number of bussed-in students.
-Schools can offer education to students from neighboring cities should they have the room and traffic infrastructure to do so. If you need more options for your own students, the same is true in reverse.
-High Schools function the same as above, except for teens.
-Grade Schools influence Medium Wealth for citizens.
-High Schools influence Medium Wealth for citizens.
-High School educated citizens use less power and water, and recycle more.
-The High School can have a Gymnasium addition that draws traffic and tourism to see games.
-Community Colleges are a cheap, small scale option for adult education that influences the tech sector of industrial zones and creates higher tech industrial buildings.
-The University does the same as the above but on a larger scale. It is only unlocked if a certain number of citizens are properly educated in a certain timeframe.
-The university is a large building that takes up a lot of space and must be planned for.
-The University features 5 different School Modules- Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Science.
-Every module is unlocked with a specific number of citizens educated at the University. The player chooses which to unlock in which order.
-Each individual module has its own set of unlocks. The Business school increases commercial profits across the entire region. The Science school unlocks Concentrated Solar Arrays for the power plant, the Solar Farm "Great Work" that can be built to power your entire region, the Gen 2 Thermal Reactor for the nuclear plant, and the Fast Neutron reactor for the nuclear plant. To summarize, 4 of the schools will unlock modules, upgrades, and new features for other building types in the city.
-As a result of these upgrades, your city can fall into trouble without proper planning: For instance, highly educated University students unlock Tier 3 High Tech industry. Tier 3 High Tech Industry can create Hazardous Material Fires. The ONLY way to put out these fires is to have a Hazmat Garage for your Fire Station. The ONLY way to unlock Hazmat Garages is to have the School of Engineering in your University. The ONLY way to have a Hazmat Garage is to have a properly funded and functioning Large Fire station. The ONLY way to have a Large Fire Station is to have a properly funded and functioning Small Fire Station. If you have not been keeping up with other aspects of your city you may lock yourself into an unprepared corner. If you upgrade your education too fast- but haven't gotten Engineering locked down- you will get untameable fires.
-The same applies to other aspects of the city like Hospitals, Policing, and Energy Production as certain features for those specializations are locked to research projects via the university.
-The unlocks afforded to you by the different schools are not instantaneous- they are unlocked by completing research projects that can take weeks or months and require educated citizens attending the school and completing the projects.
-Additionally, other specializations roll into each other and your city's education system, determining how many people attend university, and how well they do, with everything feeding back into itself at some point and requiring careful planning.
And that is the extent of school gameplay.
You can take these two examples and slot in essentially every aspect of play, and the situation is the same: Cities Skylines' interpretation is surface level, entirely 100% utterly managed by arbitrary population milestones, and effectively works on its own without feeding into much else. SimCity's interpretation is deep, intricately designed, requires unlocks across various specializations and city design influence, and feeds into others in complex ways that warrant a lot of planning, work, and properly functioning city infrastructure.
Cities Skylines attempts to improve on these with things like the University DLC, Industry DLC, etc, but the attempts fall very flat across the board, except maybe with Uni. Industries for example does not replace the default industry system, and the new industries are a mess of mismatched features and broken design concepts (like storage facilities being permanetnly stuck trying to fill or empty, meaning you'll be importing things you don't need while waiting for production to fill things, with constant conga lines of trucks ruining your traffic infrastructure, because no gameplay systems are afforded to you to properly manage these sorts of things).
I have very little faith we'll see the game improve in these ways, but man, I can dream, I guess.

I am going on vacation and will have to use a sick day in order to get off of work. If I were to email my boss from my work email (outlook app with Microsoft Authenticator login on personal iPhone), would they be able to figure out where I sent the email from and know I am on vacation?
If so, is there a way I can email them without them being able to know my location? Would it be better to email them from my personal email instead (gmail), or from a computer instead of my iPhone?

Atari was there at the beginning of home video gaming with the 2600. At the time basically nobody else was making home video game consoles so there wasn't much competition. They were number #1 if you wanted to play video games at home you had an Atari. Then as time went on other companies started making game consoles. These consoles improved on everything the Atari did. The stick figure graphics and beeps and boops were fun in the beginning but technology was advancing.
Atari tried to keep up with the others and released a couple of other consoles but even those were primitive and crappy compared to what others were making by that time. By 1987 you had the NES with games like Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda, Punch-Out, Metroid, Castlevania and Mega Man. Games that were bigger and better than the primitive old Atari 2600 games. In 1987 Atari was still trying to compete with their Atari 7800. Which had games like Asteroids,Centipede,Dig Dug, Food Fight, Pole Position II and Joust. The same old crap they were doing nearly a decade ago just with a bit better visuals. Sure the visuals were a bit better but the gameplay didn't hold up compared to what other companies were putting out. They couldn't evolve with the rest of the market and kept doing the same old crap they were originally popular for.
In the end they were bought out. While they do still exist today it is in name only. The Atari of today has nothing to do with the original popularity they had and the only reason people pay any attention to the name Atari at all in 2023 is because of nostalgia.

Now I know all that may not be 100 percent accurate but I think it gets the point across.

On this post: https://www.reddit.com/livealive/comments/13ynd04/live_a_live_2_what_chapters_id_like_to_see/ I mentioned I'd like to see a Superhero-themed chapter involving a city named Cosmos City being invaded by aliens. It was inspired by the China chapter of LAL.
The plot involves Cosmos City, in the USA, being invaded by aliens (spawns of the alien from Cube's chapter, which in LAL2 alternate history has devoured and assimilated Cube to become the alien queen of this chapter).
The plot starts with Jason David Stark attacking the nest of the alien queen (it's genderless, but I'll call it a queen) alone, and almost defeats it at the cost of getting crippled and having his Green Dragon armor rendered inoperable. Meanwhile. the alien queen has survived, and it's gonna regenerate and learn a new plan to attack Cosmos City through its adaptation ability.
Back in Cosmos City, the aliens seem to have died, for now, but the queen is not actually dead so they're gonna respawn and attack again. Jason, no longer being able to use his armor, decides to train the rest of the Guardian Force to prepare for the new invasion.
Some months pass, and, as Jason predicted, the aliens come back with a vengeance. As such, Jason and the Guardian Force he leads are now ready to stop them. One of the heroes, the one with the highest affinity and level, claims the title of New Green Dragon in honor of the late Jason, and leads the attack on the aliens' nest.
Since the queen has adapted to Jason's powers and is now able to counter them, Jason decides to lead the city defense and send some of his Guardian Force to attack the nest while the rest assist him in city defense. Jason eventually dies while tackling the aliens' main force in a forced loss battle, meanwhile, the player's decisions cause other heroes to take up different tasks and fight some specific boss aliens. They might die or survive, depending on the situation.
The two doing tasks in the nest (but not the two protecting the city) assist the New Green Dragon as a party against the final boss. Then, as the New Green Dragon comes back to the city, the surviving heroes all cheer for them and, for the final chapter, teach them their signature special skill based on summoning them.
Unlike the China chapter, this one punishes favoritism severely, as avoiding favoritisms causes your heroes to be able to survive and give whoever is the New Green Dragon special skills to use in the final chapter.

The heroes' team, called the Guardian Force, is inspired by the "Sense of Right Alliance" bootleg toys (which depicts Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, a Power Ranger, Lightning McQueen and Shrek):
Green Dragon (Jason David Stark) is a tribute to Jason David Frank's Green Ranger and represents the Power Ranger, given he's a user of a cybernetic armor who can summon a dragon. Jason is the hero at the start of the game, and the character you control outside of battle for most of it. As he's gonna sacrifice himself to defend the city, you control him for one last time and have to beat waves and waves of aliens in a battle that carries on until you die: each wave you beat gives you rarer drops and beating the fifth wave gives a special weapon for the final chapter, however, after the fifth wave, a special boss spawns which uses an instakill move before you even get a chance to attack.
Killer Backhoe is a tribute to Lightning McQueen, being a modified backhoe controlled by an AI, with a machine gun turret mounted on it. He has an A rank in Strength and a B in Range, but a D in flight. If he survives, he gives the New Green Dragon the skill Grave Digger (Martial-elemental charge in a straight line with a 2x2 width, with a chance of an instant kill)
Bloodbat (Pat Cullenson) is a tribute to Pattinson's Batman (and Edward Cullen) and represents Batman, being a vampire with blood magic and the ability to turn into a bat. He has a B rank in Flight and an A rank in Range, and a D rank in Strength. If he survives, he'll give the New Green Dragon the skill My Bloody Valentine (health-draining Dark-elemental magic attack which inflicts Poison, Intoxication, atk down and def down in a 3x3 range)
The Oni (Roland Takahara) is a tribute to Shrek, being, you know, an oni. He has an S rank in Strength and a D in both Range and Flight. If he survives, he'll give the New Green Dragon the skill Oni's Rage (Blunt-elemental physical attack which covers a 4x4 area around the user and raises the user's atk but lowers their defense)
Plasma Jet (Henry Hartmann) is a tribute to Superman (especially Henry Cavill's one), as his power to control plasma allows him to fly and shoot heat beams. He has a C rank in Strength, an A rank in Range and an S rank in Flight. If he survives, he'll give the New Green Dragon the skill Plasma Blast (long-ranged Fire-elemental magic attack which hits a 4x4 area)
Monarch Butterfly (Vanessa Del Bruco) is a tribute to Spider-Man, as she controls bugs, shoot silk and split her body into multiple bugs. She has an S rank in Range, a D rank in Strength and a B rank in Flight. If she survives, she'll give the New Green Dragon the skill Hungry Swarm (Projectile-elemental physical attack which hits the whole field dealing 10 hits of light damage and drains health)
Note that in order to survive, each hero has to be a certain level or higher depending on what task you have them attempt. Since every hero has not only a task to accomplish, but also an individual boss to fight associated with said task, you have to win those boss battles cause if you lose it's not just a game over and reset, your hero dies.
In order to perform some tasks and have your heroes survive, you need a hero which has of those talents at a certain rank (those ranks can increase with levels). Some of these tasks involve rescuing civilians from a skyscraper, hitting flying aliens storming the city, removing debris blocking a road, and then destroying the gate to the nest or reaching it by flying or opening a passage by shooting. Each hero needs to have not only a certain skill rank to be able to perform those tasks, but also be at a certain level to be able to survive those tasks.
Jason can have "support conversations" and "training sessions" with various heroes in order to decide which ones go to the nest and which ones stay to defend the city. All surviving heroes who are in the nest are used as the party against the final boss.
After you finish the chapter, the New Green Dragon learns the ability to summon the heroes who have survived the chapter in order to launch one skill (as such being able to use a skill from their skillset in the final chapter). For instance, Killer Backhoe surviving gives you his skill Grave Digger, whose animation involves Killer Backhoe appearing and doing a Martial-elemental charge in a straight line which , or Bloodbat surviving gives whoever the New Green Dragon is his skill My Bloody Valentine, with an animation involving summoning Bloodbat, who uses Dark-elemental blood magic to drain health and inflict Poison, Intoxication and all stats down in a 3x3 range.

Bridget is a lovable, brave, interesting and fan favorite kid with yo-yos who just kept on yo-ing despite everything she went through.. then when dlc season 2 it’s revealed Bridget is trans now. Which angered many people, some people support Bridget's descision, some people don't for various reasons either due to lore breaking or.. just because she is trans now, but there's not a lot of em and you don't see em often tbh. Obviously, as an old time fan, i was surprised, but at the same time i was confused on how to feel., it all comes down to how they are written and if they were made in order to get good boy tokens, or were they made in order to make a good representation. At the same time i want to be happy with Bridget's decision, but at the same time, i feel a little bit confused as to why and how it happened, because, to people who knew the lore, it came out of nowhere, like a piano in a bush. So i'll try to explain why in my opinion, the transition is a little flawed and how i could fix it.. at least try.
I'll try explain how i feel, but try not to offend anyone. I respect everyone and every minority. It's just my opinion and i want to try and explain why people are angry about it and how they could've made it better, so both groups could be happy.
Let's start off with most important parts of Bridget lore in a nutshell, the lore that actually explains why the character is a crossdresser in the first place. Bridget grew up in an english village, where people believed that twins shoul only be of opposite genders, meaning a boy and a girl. Bridget grew up in a family where both twins were boys. If twins are born with the same gender or sex, it will cause misfortune, and one of the twins of the same gender should be sacrified or exiled. Parents of Bridget, decided to not give their child away, and instead made people think that the girl was born, by raising the boy as a girl, in order to save their own and their child's lives. Bridget got the best education she could get, and she loved her parents, but sadly they felt guilty for what they did to one of their sons. Eventually, Bridget began to believe that if she could leave and come back with enough money, then perhaps the village would be able to see that there was no basis for their superstitions. Not too long after, as if in answer to her prayers, she heard about a bounty for a gear in the forest of demons, and decided to become a bounty hunter. But reward for the gear was already taken. After many adventures and battles with different characters, she felt like she proved her manliness and bravery, and decided to leave the bounty hunting life behind and become and entertainer, in one of the endings she becomes a waiter, but in alternative one she finds out that her parents and brother went missing, so she goes to find them.
And then Strive comes in, and you know what's funny, it does not mention anything about the disappearence of her parents and brother, almost like.. they forgot her lore and her journey. Apparently, her parents are ok now, and she is now a bountry hunter.. again. You start to notice some inconsitencies with the lore. You would think that in new entry, they would continue the story line with missing parents and brother, but apparently not, because arcade story is all about ~☆Self Discovery☆~, and understanding of your true self. Which is not bad or anything, but it just makes you wonder, why her parents are ok. Why her brother is ok. Why she is still a bounty hunter and WHY SHE IS NOT MENTIONING WHAT HAPPENED AT ALL!? You could've at least made a cutscene explaining what have happened and why Bridget started questioning who she really is after her big journey, it just makes you feel like there is a giant gap in the story. There was no parent disappearence in Ba Sing Se, i guess. But anyway, enough mad ramblings. The whole story of the arcade is more focused on identity and true self of Bridget, which isn't bad, but i feel like it's done poorly, because even trans people feel like something isn't right with this reveal, which should say a lot to the creators, if they wanted to make Bridget a transgender intentionally. Or at least they tried to make it more natural and nice but failed with the execution. Let's take a look at what happens in "good" and "bad" endings, as people call them.
In one of the endings, GoldLewis asks if he can call Bridget a cowgirl or a cowboy, like a good texan he is, to which Bridget answers "Cowgirl is fine. Because I AM A GIRL!". And this may be a point where all hell broke lose. Let's start off with the fact that it's probably be a point where people started questioning Bridget's gender, and that it could've been written better in order to not just sound like "Well, guess i am a girl now", but i'll explain how i would've changed it so it wouldn't feel forced, like people say and think. In flawless run, Bridget exclaims that she will not change, probably hinting that she will still continue to prove her manliness, but maybe.. just maybe.. accepting her femenine looks and girly behavior, and that probably it's not a bad thing that even after your journey, people still see you as a girl, she doesn't care, because she accepted who she is and will still try her best to show her manly side, a side that she never showed in her childhood. At least.. that's what i thought this flawless ending meant, because.. again, it's poorly written and could've made more sense. The ending where Bridget just says that she is a girl now, made people mad because it does not align with the lore, making people think that Bridget possibly accepted that her journey to prove her manliness is pointless, because in the end it doesn't even matter, accepting false identity instead of being true to herself.
I am not trying to shame people who think it's a good thing or cool thing that Bridget is now trans, because they either didn't know who Bridget was or what was her lore about, or they just think trans representation in Strive is a good thing. But sometimes you just have to question the quality of writing, what authors really tried to achieve, and why people and fans are mad over this? Nothing is black and white, you just have to find answers and reasons why they feel this way.

In Kirby Star Allies, the final boss of Guest Star mode looks like it'll be recurring boss Galacta Knight, and he even gets his own boss subtitle like the other bosses, that is until a butterfly lands on his lance, absorbs him, and you have to fight Morpho Knight instead. The exact same thing happens in Forgotten Land's Forgo Dreams: it looks like you'll have to fight Soul Forgo, until the butterfly comes in and absorbs it, leading to another battle against Morpho Knight. It stands out as being the first instance of content from the bonus modes making an actual canonical appearence.
In Yugioh 5Ds, there's tons of buildup to the idea that Z-ONE is a future version of Yusei. This theory is seemingly validated during the final duel, where his mask breaks and he looks like an elderly Yusei. However, the next episode has him clarify some things. He's not actually Yusei, but rather a scientist who physically altered himself in order to inspire hope in the bleak future of the Meklord war, but failed. While it may be controversial, I think it's a bit of a unique twist on the "evil future version of the hero" trope by having it be someone who tried to live up to the hero's example, only to utterly fail in the end.
