Equisa frowned as she looked at her bosses again. The three Sprilnav Elders before her, not even Refined Elders, were simply staring at her disdainfully as if she'd asked if gravity was real. One of them wasn't even bothering to look at her and instead was scratching at his neck, likely a result of a bite.
A long time ago, there'd been someone who had released genetically modified Sprilnav into the air. They had been modified so heavily that it was definitely illegal, but the creatures were unusually hardy, bred fast enough to double their populations in a day, and constantly irritated most Sprilnav, even those who weren't Elders. And, of course, the products to prevent the bites were extra expensive, with planned obsolescence just another part of their hated design.
"But why can't I go back? There's no good reason for it. I want to see Joshua and Meihala again." She missed them greatly. Equisa had forgotten how lonely life was when there was no one you could call a friend. Even with all the wonderous tech of the Primary Galaxy, there was nothing that would fix that. Nothing real.
"Is fornicating with them your only reason for wishing to see them?"
"No," she replied. "But my relationship with them is a factor. I don't understand why you're constantly stonewalling me. It's unnecessary."
"You were trying to share technology with them."
"Then I won't do that anymore. Simple. Happy?"
"No."
"I can sign a binding non-disclosure agreement."
"You did last time, too."
Equisa scowled.
"I would like to talk with Nova, then."
The looks of disdain became those of derision. One of them looked like she was about to laugh at her.
"Nova is a Progenitor. He does not have time for you, much less should his divinity be tarnished by our presence. No, you are going to remain here and wait. Go find something else to do than waste our time."
The Elder pulled a hood over his head, tightened the straps of his cloak, and made a sign with his claws for the other two to follow. Equisa knew she wasn't invited to whatever meeting they were about to have. She assumed that she was going to get fired now and would have to find another place to work. That would be both demeaning and difficult. Another reminder of what she'd lost by being forced to leave the Alliance behind.
Equisa turned around mournfully, gazing at the door which led to the main corridor and elevator to the ground floor of the building. With absent amusement, she noticed that the windows had extra bars on the sides to prevent people from jumping out. Though she could jump off the very highest building in the city and come out unscathed.
Clearly, this wasn't getting her anywhere useful. Equisa had to re-think her options and determine a path forward. She exited the building, weaving through the crowds of Sprilnav that were walking and flying through the streets between the massive skyscrapers. Some of them had bought personal flight devices, useful for those who didn't want to deal with pedestrians. But it often led to disaster when people got drunk. But there were always more Sprilnav, so the accidents weren't being dealt with anytime soon.
She could see the high arches overhead, supported by huge amounts of metal and a superstructure that went down to the very core of the planet-sized city. After grabbing a few pieces of food that looked particularly good, like some meat from a new cloning facility, she settled down on a patch of artificial grass. There were other Sprilnav there, mostly couples on quiet excursions or children playing on various different playsets. But Equisa was alone.
She'd never had any children and didn't intend to. None of her previous mates had lasted longer than a few hundred years at most, which hadn't ever been enough time to unravel the complicated mess of secrets and suspicions surrounding almost every Sprilnav Elder. And having relationships with the common Sprilnav would be seen as a black mark on her reputation, perhaps the equal of the one she'd apparently received for daring to love two humans instead of some dry Elder who only moved one day a year.
While her relationship with Meihala and Joshua had been sudden, it hadn't been bereft of real love. She really did love them and wanted to have friends again. For far too long, she'd been alone. She didn't like feeling that anymore because it was in times like this when depression could sink its claws into her without warning.
She'd been trying to get in touch with the Alliance again without success. Even the more secret emergency methods she'd established weren't working at all. No quantum connections were successfully linked with her implants. Errors and notifications about having no access plagued her vision as she tried in vain to even send out a single message.
There was no way for her to reestablish contact, which worried and angered her. Even her ship was being watched, not that she could actually get to the Alliance using it. Wormholes were far too expensive for people of her stratum to be able to afford.
And she didn't have sponsors that would be willing to pay, either. She needed information, friends, and actual help. Help that no one was giving her. Her bosses didn't even care. It saddened her greatly. Equisa didn't know where she could find Nova, either. It wasn't like he was easy to find unless one knew where to look. He could easily disguise himself as a normal-looking Sprilnav, after all. Many technologies existed to allow that, and Nova likely had the best of the best.
Of course, Equisa wasn't sure how one could hide a tail, but that was just her. Even being able to have seen him once in her life was already far more than most Sprilnav would ever know. In that way, she'd been exposed to a higher power. Within the Sprilnav, the Progenitors were gods. They had cults and religious followings in their names, political power so immense that not even the rest of the species together could pool their resources enough to resist.
It was said that no one disagreed with them. And they didn't. Not if they wanted to continue existing. Equisa had a feeling that if Nova wanted to help her, he would. Though it wasn't like someone of his stature would appear before her.
"Why not?"
Equisa could feel the mindscape bend slightly and looked up to meet the eyes of a being that was far beyond her own abilities to comprehend. She didn't know what she felt at that moment.
Certainly surprised, for sure. A large amount of reverence for him and a growing disbelief that she wasn't dreaming. Perhaps she really was lying in bed with Meihala and Joshua again, and this irritating life would disappear when she awoke once more. But when she opened her eyes again, Nova still stood before her.
His small stature was quite distinctive. Despite her height advantage, there was no question as to the hierarchy of power here. Even the grass was bowing to him, bending low to the ground in a way she'd never known was possible.
And his voice held an aura of command so utterly intense that she only now noticed she was kneeling. She didn't bother trying to rise.
"What?" Equisa asked.
"Why wouldn't I appear before you?"
Of course he could read her mind. She expected nothing less. But it did feel a little violating. Okay, it felt very violating, but it wasn't like she could say that to his face. Oh. She just had.
Nova's small form coiled around itself before bulging and changing color. Soon, a normal Sprilnav was standing before her, but that ethereal air was still there. It was like a smell in the air but beyond that. Something pleasant yet distinctive. It didn't seem like perfume, either. She knew that it was affecting her mind in some way, but she didn't really care. Perhaps that was part of the effect, too.
"You're way too high up. I'm a nobody compared to you. At most, I should be seeing a Refined Elder, not a whole Progenitor."
"Am I not what you expected, then?" Nova asked. His amusement was clear in his strangely commanding voice.
Equisa sighed. "I don't know whether you're real. I can't tell if you're mocking me. I... don't know how to feel about you being here."
"You don't want me here?"
"No, it's not that. I want you here, but also... sort of wonder. Why come to me now? Why me and not the countless other Elders? Am I special? Was I chosen as something greater? And why do my superiors refuse to let me return to Earth and Luna? I have a life there."
Equisa knew now, more than ever, that she didn't have a life here.
"You do not have a life there. The humans you care for will die in less than a millionth of the time you have lived. Elder Equisa, to put it simply, associating with them in such a way is not just immoral, but it is not possible in even the short term."
Nova's cold eyes made Equisa flinch back. "I... I want to live a life free of shackles. Is that so much to ask?"
"Yes. For a Sprilnav Elder from the Primary Galaxy, it is. As an Elder, you are an envoy to the species as a whole. You represent us. Know that your actions on Luna were so reviled by some that I have already dismissed motions to assassinate you."
"People came to you, a Progenitor, to ask permission to kill me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because if they did it without my permission, due to your very close ties with Humanity, it could become problematic for them. I would not protect them from the consequences of their actions. And additionally, there are some Elders that have called for you to be sealed away for somatic realignments."
Equisa couldn't hide her fury.
"They want to alter my mind, because they couldn't handle the thought of a human sticking themselves in me? How insanely childish and petty. In fact, I'd think the reputation of always being down for it is far better than that of genocidal sadists, which is the reputation our species has among all the others. Progenitor, kill me if you must, but at least let me die free."
"You shall. However, I am not here to kill you. I am here to determine what to do with you. Sending you back to Humanity would prevent a rupture of relations, particularly the only positive relations that Elders have with them period, with the exception of Nilnacrawla in Penny's head. However, doing so would also anger a number of highly powerful conservative factions, particularly those based around supremacy and purity of our species. Granted, I would not have to worry about such an issue. But you, and your family, might be different. It is entirely possible they might wipe out all of your relatives, were you to leave for Luna to go back and soil yourself among the humans."
She frowned. "I did not soil myself, Progenitor. You don't understand what it's like. Even now, everyone I thought I knew ridicules me for daring to love who I love. Even you. You're the closest thing to a god this universe has ever seen. And yet, even you stand before me, heaping your disgust for me onto my already burdened shoulders. They're not animals, Progenitor."
"Your actions are casting the Alliance in a negative light as well, in the eyes of many Sprilnav who would not care otherwise."
"And so what? They don't matter."
"They do, you just do not want to admit it. If I wanted to stop you from loving them, I could, Equisa. Right here, right now, I could rearrange your brain, altering your memories like clay in my claws. I could make you forget what love even is. I could turn you into a slave, or into a living bioweapon. My disapproval of your decisions is mostly from the standpoint of someone who had to deal with the fallout. I care not for your decision to try and mate with humans."
"When you love someone, none of the other stuff matters. I want to go back, Progenitor Nova. Back to the Alliance. I don't know who decided that this punishment was necessary, but surely your word is above theirs."
"Yes, it is. That is not the only reason I have come to see you today. And I should note that you would do better to be more careful with your words around other Elders, or especially if you have the misfortune to meet any other Progenitors."
"I am... destabilized, Progenitor Nova. I apologize. The people I love are in another galaxy, and I am not able to reach them anymore. I'm not sure if you know how that feels."
"I did. I lived a life with my mate for eons. Before the Source war, I was the happiest Sprilnav there ever was. Now, she is long dead. The Source personally dug its claws into her chest, turning her bones to a constantly exploding supernova within her body, all while keeping her alive for a subjective time that is longer than your life has ever been. My grief after the war was great enough that I considered taking my own life. So yes, I know what it is like to love. But I am warning you about the cost of your actions."
Equisa could feel the venom in his voice. It triggered her instincts to run, but her muscles wouldn't move. Terror rang like a bell throughout her psyche as she was consumed by the hunger in Nova's eyes. And then, it all faded. The bone-curdling fear disappeared, and Nova tilted his head. She took it as a cue to speak again.
"You faced the Great Enemy alone?"
"Not alone, until she died. Yes, the Source killed her. Do I hate it? Not really. The deed is done, and the scar is cold. The real reason for the Source war was that during the glory days, we were sucking the very life force of the psychic realm away. The Source tried to open a dialogue to prevent it, and failed. When the last of its family died, leaving it as the sole inhabitant of the mindscape, the war began."
The scar wasn't cold, that was for sure. No matter how much he liked to pretend otherwise. "I can still hear your thoughts, you know."
"Yes."
"It would be nice if you allowed me to live in my delusions for a while longer."
"Well, back to the conversation then. You claim that I have tarnished the reputation of the Sprilnav, and yet we continue to purge species in the Secondary Galaxy for the mere crime of making an AI. Even though you alone could easily reach across the galaxy to deal with it at that point." "Yes."
"But you're a god."
"Yes, I am. However, that does not mean that I wish to willingly fight another one. An AI that reaches technological singularity is also a god, as much as the concept can be constrained in reality."
"What do you mean?"
"When a being becomes immensely powerful, their conceptual weight also increases, assuming they increase their psychic energy footprint. That's why Penny was able to survive being disemboweled by Yasihaut several times in quick succession. It is part of why Elders can survive forces mundane Sprilnav cannot. It is why I could walk into a black hole and survive."
"Have you?"
"Yes."
"What is it like?"
"There are no words."
"Nothing?"
"Describing something that does not exist is very difficult. How do you count in a universe where numbers do not exist? It is much the same for them. The mess inside the event horizon of a black hole is incredibly damaging, even for a being such as myself. Were I to remain in a singularity for long enough, though it would not kill me, it would begin to hurt."
"There seems to be a lot of extra importance with concepts, then," Equisa said.
"Elder Equisa, concepts run the universe. The Source's power is conceptual, just as mine is. Even the hivemind has some conceptual power, though it does not know it for sure yet. And you will not tell it, if you are to go back to Luna."
"Can you protect my family?"
"Of course," Nova replied. He clacked his jaws once, his nostrils flaring as he inhaled.
"Will you?"
"Maybe. I will need a favor in return."
"Well, if I die completing your favor, don't hold it against me."
"Do not worry. That is not the type of favor that I require. Rather, I need you to monitor the progress of the Alliance. Particularly the powers of the hivemind, Penny, Gaia, and Brey. And the intelligence of their various AI citizens."
"Can't you do that?"
"Yes, and no. Remaining near the Source's bones for a long time is not preferred."
"Then I will try. But it may not be easy, and there is every possibility my information could be wrong."
"Yes. I am aware," Nova responded. "But I will see what you can do."
"So I can go back?"
"Yes, Equisa. Though again, do not share what you know anymore. You are allowed to provide context for situations. Sharing any technological knowledge will be looked upon negatively." "I understand. I just want to see them again."
"You shall."

"She did what?" Hive Emperor Calanii growled.
"The Alliance claims that Rank 10 Ambassador Liinara insulted them several times, and has provided a recording of what was said. It has been verified by VI analysis as authentic," his advisor said.
Calanii quickly put on his clothes, now finished with the deep massage he'd been waiting for all day. He stretched a bit, feeling the gaps in his chitin more than he used to. He was getting old, slowly. Not that he'd die of old age with the immortality treatments, but aging still was possible. And the growth hormones in it had resulted in him becoming larger than he'd once been.
"I'll come back to that later. Where is she now?"
"She has gone into hiding, likely presuming that you are going to kill her. We know where she is."
"I shall issue a formal apology, then. I will also give the Alliance any compensation they reasonably request. They are requesting compensation, yes?"
"They are."
"Then deliver the contents of their list to my desk tomorrow."
"As you wish, Hive Emperor."
The advisor bowed and left. Calanii was glad that the pheromone blocker was active right now. His anger was barely contained, especially at the thought of such a stupid blunder. Reaching Rank 10 wasn't something just anyone could do, especially as an Ambassador. Liinara would die if the Alliance requested it. And if they did not, she might still die anyway.
He'd schedule a call with them and try to reestablish diplomatic ties. There was no way that their relationship would survive any longer by being left out to thaw with such a heinous breach of etiquette. He then received another call, this one directly to his office.
The banners overhead fluttered with a light breeze, obviously artificial but still pleasant on his chitin. He'd been very stressed that past few days, with Exii'darii's jailbreak looming over him. She'd try to kill him, that was for sure. The countermeasures were being put in place all around the palace, and most military sites and urban centers would receive special equipment deliveries soon. Logistics were a mess, but when the call went out, an executive order from the Hive Emperor was an easy way to speed things along.
Calanii sauntered over to his desk, realizing that he would need much more anti-stress ointment than he'd thought. It was so intense that his actual body was starting to feel it. When he answered, the screen showed the face of a Cawlarian.
"Who is this?"
"I am Truth Speaker Huatil."
"The Nest Overlord's mate?"
"Yes."
"What business do you have with me, that he does not?"
"The Sennes Hive Union has intelligence that the Sprilnav are operating several clandestine mind-control cells, intent on sowing discord and chaos amongst your populace. They have a particular focus on government officials, such as Ambassadors."
Calanii got what she was suggesting. He didn't question how she'd learned the information. No one that shacked up with the leader of an entire nation would be some pointless nobody with no connections.
"You mean Ambassador Liinara?"
"Her and others. Rich executives at companies, such as one under scrutiny for certain actions against the Alliance several years ago."
"How long has this been going on?"
"That is unknown," Hautil admitted. "What is known is that they will begin to cement their power soon. When they feel that the have enough, they will make their moves."
"Then we must move first."
"Yes, we shall. But that does not include us alone, but also the Alliance."
"What exactly are you suggesting?"
"Well, an agreement. A treaty organization, perhaps. Drafts of the documents will be given to you if you agree to inspect them. Note that this would likely be a full defensive alliance, with all that entails. There would be no room for half-measures."
"Then why the Alliance?"
"The Alliance will be a peer player in under three years," Hautil said. "By every metric, they have already reached the level of technology of our base militaries, though not specialized technology like stealth or shields yet. In particular, their ability to have an outsized impact despite their small population due to Phoebe and Edu'frec's control over vast drone and android forces is already becoming a potential concern."
Calanii knew that was true, at least. His own spies within the Alliance had noted the explosion in their fleet size with worry. Their encryption was already incredible, though that was because of their two AIs. Furthermore, they had a whole species that quite literally could not be infiltrated for spying. Perhaps that extended to mind control, as well.
"Estimates place the number of satellites in their stellar constellation within the Sol system at 330 billion. That is enough to power hundreds of times their current civilization's total power usage. Their Mercury-class guns have been confirmed capable of breaching Sprilnav ships, placing them on par with our own battlecruiser weaponry. In terms of fleet numbers itself, they have 11 dreadnaughts, with 13 more assumed under construction, 30,000 battlecruisers, 50,000 carriers, 120,000 cruisers, 500,000 destroyers, and 1.1 million frigates. In addition to that, nearly 2 million drone craft, capable of linking to direct battle networks, directed by Edu'frec and Phoebe. These numbers have not been publicized."
"Quite something, but nowhere near the billions we have," Calanii replied. Those numbers were similar to the reports he'd received. Supposedly, most of that expansion was possible due to Guulin and Acuarfar populations being so high and the wealth of the Alliance skyrocketing along with the average living standards. And most crews were small, with only a little above the number of people necessary to run a ship being placed on one, though all had overlapping specializations. This was most true for humans, which had the ability to take all the typical specializations and roll them into one.
Due to the hivemind, a human could be the best engineer ever seen at one moment and the best pilot ever the next. Its usefulness seemed to know no bounds.
"Yes. But they can put up a fight now, and most of our fleets would be tied up as defense forces in a war."
"And mind control?"
"We have confirmed that there isn't any of it within the highest members of their government. The number of surprise scans has increased considerably, and it seems that their leadership is in a contained panic over the possibility. Calanii had a theory.

So she was willing to lie to his face, then. His own intelligence agencies only had one single spy within the Blue Intelligence Agency. That was how they'd learned the method of placing chips within the brain to directly interfere with any attempts at establishing control. It was likely a stopgap measure since an Elder would likely find a way around it with enough motivation, resources, and time.

Lately, I have come across many people who are complaining quite out loud about 3 days office just for sake of saving one hour of travel. To my surprise, they are doing it so loud on social media that people in above professionals are sharing their post and asking how do they get such comfortable life like hybrid model and 2 days off.
I am okay for work from home as long as it doesn't affect work, what there is a medical emergency, for which there should have been a leave applied.
Travel takes time cannot be reason for begging for work from home.
If you are so talented start a company, make it work, provide work from home and attain valuation of companies like Accenture, Cognizant,Capegemni, TCS, Zoho, Infosys,Hdfc, etc

I'm at my absolute whits end. The upstairs neighbor's dog has been barking literally nonstop for Two Full Hours, and that's just from when I started counting. Probably a good half hour or so before then. This is not the first time, and they've blasted music well into the 1,2,3AMs repeatedly. I'm a firm believer in not complaining about live and let live shit (if you wanna blast music from 10am-10pm be my guest, because sometimes I wanna do the same), but after 10pm I think there should be some level of consciousness for how loud you're being. Especially on weeknights, but I don't know the actual Laws surrounding it in Columbus.
Forgive my inexperience, but is this something I can bring up to the leasing office or do I need to start with the non emergency police line? This is my first apartment after moving out of my parents' place, and I've never interacted with the property management people beyond the occasional maintenance request, but I don't trust CPD as far as I could throw 'em and I'm pretty damn weak.

The world is run on blackmail, mind control, and shame.
There exist many collections of videotapes of 'high-up' people engaging in some of the worst, sickest things imaginable. Drugs, torture, pedophilia, and murder are common themes to these videos. These tapes are in the hands of many different people, groups, and especially intelligence agencies. 'Honey-trap' operations are constantly being run to gather compromising and incriminating evidence on people of importance. Child slaves will be used to compromise people on video. Global leaders are often covertly videotaped doing perverted things with sex slaves sent to them by intelligence agencies, the Illuminati, or other groups, and this is then leveraged. Rape and murder of a child (forced or not), one of the most repulsive things possible, is many times filmed to ensure future compliance.

Intelligence agencies all over the world utilize blackmail, routinely employing and exploiting it as much as possible. It is an extremely important 'tool' of theirs. Operations are done to gather the incriminating evidence.

The railroads are coming under more and more scrutiny, partly because of the East Palestne, Ohio; disaster, along with several other derailments. First responders have long complained, that "parked trains", and trains, slow to clear crossings; have caused serious problems, especially as trains have gotten longer, and longer.
According to "Newshour", tonight (June 1, 2023); railroads are now allowed, to assemble trains, of almost 4100 tons (about 8,200,000 pounds, or 3,727,200 kilograms), and up to 2 miles long (almost 3.2 Kilometers). The "upshot" of all this, is that fire equipment, ambulances, and police vehicles; are being seriously delayed in situations, where any significant delay, because emergency vehicles have to "go, around" these trains, at the nearest clear crossings. The delays; cost lives, and allow fires to get more "out of control. In Hammond, Indiana; southeast of Chicago, school children are forced, to climb onto, crawl under, or otherwise endanger themselves, around "parked" trains, to get to school; there is no warning, that the train may "start up"; maiming, or killing them; and the nearest "clear" crossings may be, more than a mile, away.
This is a very serious problem, and needs to be addressed; by either Congress, or The Biden Administration, by Pete Buttigieg's Department of Transportation. If The Supreme Court acts to "block" any actions, they need to be held to account, as well. The regulation of the railroads, has been an ongoing problem; going all the way back, to the 1880's; and the days of the "Robber Barons". Some regulation of the railroads, had been done because of the abuses of those times, but those have been "watered down", or "done away, with" by recent Administrations, and Congresses, mainly at the hands of the Republicans. I cannot provide further documentation, because it was done quietly, and out of public sight; at the commission level, or by Congress, at committee levels, or attachments to bills.

I’m a trooper in the most non-elite, non-glamorous, and most expendable of all the branches. I’m part of the FODERR (fodder), or the Federal Optional Deployment Enlisted Reserve Regiments, and ‘yes’, we are all painfully aware that we are literally ‘fodder’ both in name and in mission. Probably the only thing that the FODERR has going for it is that we are the largest branch of the Terran military, far larger than even the Army. To give you an idea of how numerically massive our numbers are, for every one Space Marine there are about ten regular Army GI Joes. And for every one regular Army soldier, there are about fifteen to twenty of us reservist troopers. Our numbers need to be far greater than the other branches of the service due to the genus doctrine which our genus political masters came up with which states that if the enemy has twenty high impact rounds for their weapon, we will send twenty-one reserve troopers to take the enemy down. Such is the gallows humor which the average trooper such as myself has grown used to. The fact is, the only thing that outnumbers us on the battlefield are usually the enemy and the number of rubber body bags which the Terran government sends with us.
Artillery prep? Never heard of it. Flanking maneuvers? Don’t make me laugh. Armor support? Sure, if you’re the enemy. Not for us, though. In the FODERR, we have just one combat doctrine which is, ‘Hey, diddle-diddle, straight up the middle.’ Have you ever seen a full on FODRR frontal assault? It’s pretty impressive for the first few minutes. After that, however, it usually turns into a slaughter. That’s why the FODERR Corps are known throughout the galaxy simply as The Marching Dead.
Okay, okay, okay... maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit about us not having artillery and armor support. After about a month of basic infantry training, those of us basic trainees who have shown the aptitude for it, basically those of us who can’t find their asses with both hands, are sent to artillery and armor school. And those few of us with the ability to find their asses with just one hand may even be selected to go to aerospace flight school as a gunship pilot. For the rest of us, however, after basic infantry training we were sent to advanced infantry training for an additional three weeks where we were taught to operate mortars, anti-armor and anti-aircraft weapons, correctly breaking those heavy weapons down, putting those heavy weapons on our backs, then marching that heavy shit from one end of the galaxy to the other.
Oh, and by the way, don’t think you are going to get out of the Marching Dead Corps by simply falling out of the training. Once you sign the contract to be in the Corps, you are in until your three years is up or until you become the creamy filled center of a rubber body bag. If you fall out of training, all you end up doing is earning a front row seat to the spearhead of the assault, and that tends to be detrimental to your 25% chance of surviving to the end of your three year contract.
So, you might ask, why would otherwise mentally stable young people sign on to become a FODERR Trooper? Well, to tell you the truth, most of us didn’t. Most of those who signed the contract, the ‘Federal Option’ of the Federal Optional Deployment Enlisted Reserve Regiment, are convicted criminals who are facing long jail sentences. And in this day and age, criminal offenses such as saying or thinking something which might be a threat to the Party is enough to land you a date in court standing in front of a judge and a recruitment officer with a Federal Option military contract in hand.
For me, I was working at the main city library as a lowly librarian assistant, trying to scratch out a living while also trying to pay my way through college indoctrination. Our local Party officials voted themselves a 40% annual raise so, naturally, the loyal citizens’ taxes increased. I had been saving to pay my loyal citizen tax from last year when the Party officials voted themselves a raise, and finally had enough to pay. I took a day off to drive to the Department of Taxation, a twelve story complex that took up a full three city blocks downtown. Parking was scarce, so I had to drive around the block for almost an hour before I landed a parking space. After waiting for another three hours, I finally paid the taxes that I owed which, I found out, went directly into a fund that paid for the annual vacation of the Party City Council to the tropical paradise of the Vega X System.
As I returned to my car, I was greeted by an enforcement officer writing me ticket for a parking violation. It seems that the back bumper of my old lemon-mobile extended 2.2 centimeters into the parking space behind me, meaning that I was obligated to pay for two parking spaces instead of one. I was charged on the spot for attempting to defraud the local party government and, two hours later, I was hauled to the twenty-two story tall Department of Justice building across the street which took up six city blocks and, after a thirty minute wait, was standing in front of a judge. I was faced with multiple criminal charges including illegally occupying more than my fair share of public spaces, attempting to defraud local party government, disrespect of party mandates, illegal storage of a personal vehicle on public property, and because of my race, I was also charged with sympathizing with white supremacy.
Unfortunately, because I had just paid my yearly tax increases, I did not have the money to pay for these additional penalties and fees, which added the additional charge against me of illegally not having enough money in my bank account to pay for additional government mandated taxes, penalties, and fees, the recommended amount being at least 45% of your total bank account.
The judge sentenced me to sixty-five years of hard labor on a mining asteroid in orbit around Saturn or, if I so chose, I could take the three year Federal Option. As my car was being impounded, I signed the contract placed in front of me by a military recruiting officer who told me that the storage fees for my piece of shit vehicle will be taken from my first year of federal service. Along with about another five hundred people between the ages of 18 to 40 who became instant convicted criminals that afternoon, I was led to the west wing of the Department of Justice building where we waited for three more days, sleeping on cots without blankets in large, freezing, open bays, subsisting on toast and potato soup twice a day while under constant armed guard. There were no separate spaces for males, females, and those who identified as part of the LGBTQXRWYVF779+++ community. Fights were rarely broken up by the guards, but the three dozen or so people who tried to escape were quickly rounded up and handcuffed to braces on the walls for their entire stay, not being released even when it was feeding time or if they had to relieve themselves in the filthy restrooms which could barely service one hundred people. After three days, the two thousand people who were there before us were taken away and finally it was our turn to board the cattle trucks which would take us directly to our FODERR infantry basic training sites.
Since the Terran government declared a war on terrorism against the Alpha Centauri Colonies, over seventy FODERR infantry basic training camps were opened throughout the country, mostly abandoned or underused military bases which had been reopened and expanded, together adding nearly a quarter million troopers annually to send into the wars in space beside the regular Army and the Space Marines.

Hi all. I know the headline seems kind of harsh but I honestly don't know any other way to put it. Certain details have been adjusted privately to keep everyone anonymous. My brother, cam, 34, and his wife, jen 37, have been together for over a decade. They both had extremely rough up bringing for the most part. Ours was with an abusive Single narrcissit mom who had unresolved mental health and addiction problems, we grew up in severe poverty. Jen grew up for most of her life in an extremely abusive, loveless household until her mother escaped. She did have everything handed to her financially, however. Cam has always been the main provider, and has been the only one to work throughout their entire relationship. He's the only one with a licence aswell. I don't think jen has ever had a job, besides little side hobbies she's made profit off for a month or two, which has completely stopped over the years. Jen also has never gotten her liscence, because she had a car crash that caused her severe anxiety. She claims she wants to fix this, but has never seeked help or tried to remedy it. Jen was living in a housing situation when she met cam. She had a child who was in care, was struggling with mental health issues, and eating disorders. Her and cam raised her child together when she got them back, and 5 years later they welcomed another child. From that 5 year mark to now, they've had an addional 3 children. Jen has been in and out of hospitals in the past year due to recurring suicide and self harm attempts, and anorexia. Im just gonna list some of the evens that have happened since she's been hospitalised, mostly in chronological order. -Jen going to hospital after self harm. -jen is diagnosed and medicated for bpd and bipolar. -Jen threatening suicide to cam, walking in to the shed where her 18 month old was walking around, and cam was sitting, grabbing a Stanley knife. Cam grabbed her wrists,jen tries cutting herself and cuts him instead. He grabs the knife, pushes her out of the shed. she goes to the room, breaks a vase, and cuts a gash in her leg. She goes to hospital. -whilst jen is in hospital, she's taking photos,of her iv tube, making sad tiktoks about ed and self harm, while ignoring cam and her loved ones reaching out. -jen was also pretty aggressive toward the staff. She broke every single hospital bin in the ward, it took 4 nurses to hold her down (which she was proud of.) She called them names, claimed they told her things like, she's nothing more than her disorder, refused to feed her anything but sandwiches, that one nurse slapped her, etc. -jen ends up getting someone fired because some of the things she reported where proven true. -jen goes in and out of the same hospital but refuses to go back to that ward. Claims the nurses from that ward came up and did things like turned her iv drip off, etc. Posts it on social media to expose them - jen attempts suicide twice within 2 weeks, goes to same hospital once, then goes voluntarily to another hospital, where she is kept for less than 48 hours before being discharged. -jen claims she gets constant headaches, and needs her head checked. Throughout this all aswell , jen isnt talking to her loved ones. She blows up at cam and if they fight, she threatens suicide, or locks herself in her room. When she's gone to hospital, a lot of times, the police have just rocked up for a check up, and even broken in in moments. Cam has had no idea what was going on, as she acts perfectly fine infront of him (unless they're fighting, then she's extremely upset). But, the welfare checks are called because she either, -messages a friend, her case worker, or family member threatening suicide -posts threatens of suicide or videos of her with a noose, or pills, eluding to doing it. -calls healthline herself. Jen and cam both have problems, don't get me wrong. Cam drinks daily, but he isn't abusive when he does.. he smokes too, and he is super on edge without it -this is where he would be likely to snap. And he has underlying pressing health matters that he refuses to look after He has anger problems. Raises his voice at the children. Use to smack them, but stopped doing that 4-5 years ago. He hasn't yet begun the journey, but he is looking into professional help, counsellors, etc. I have also seen him actively work on correcting where he goes wrong- acknowledgement and apologies when he has done wrong, and a consistent effort to be calmer and kinder when he speaks to his children, and jen when they're fighting. I understand i may be biased. I hold a lot of compassion for both jen and my brother, but I can really relate to Cam as we grew up together and had to unlearn a lot of the same cycles. This is where it gets messy and murky. I have no doubt, that Jen went through a lot with cams anger issues as still does, but she seems to use him as an excuse for never getting herself help. Jen has had a habit of buying things secretly, presents for the children, clothes for herself. Recently, she spent $300 on new clothes for herself. She pays for some groceries, household bills, and children's presents. She paid for gas, but has stopped since it was too expensive. Jen receives income support. Cam pays for rent, bills, groceries, smokes, the car, etc. They aren't financially well off by any means. He also is out the house from 4am to 5pm, comes home, gets the children ready for bed, cooks dinner most nights, prepares their lunches. Cam has asked for jens support repeatedly over the years, from getting g a job, to her licence, to even just going out to get the groceries,having dinner organised, etc. Jen claimed recently that cam is abusing her financially and emotionally, and she keeps slipping back into her self harm because of this. Here are some things jen has claimed cam is abusive for; -hiding his weed, and not sharing it with her, even though she never pays for it,and continually smokes it throughout the day even though cam has asked her many times to wait until he's home. -getting frustrated with her smoking without paying or waiting for him -suggesting she stops smoking after coming out of hospital and being on medication -asking her to get a job and work, after she's been at home for so long, in her words, 'making her codependent and then expecting her to just jump straight in ' -asking her to get her liscence, when, to quote jen "I am so traumatised from my var crash I can't even get behind the wheel. Jen has never seeked help for this at all, and is perfectly fine in cars any other time. -"he doesn't understand how hard it is with the kids." All of them are in school besides her youngest. -this one is pretty valid, him being angry, raising his voice, slamming doors etc. -him never chipping in for children presents even though she buys them all without his knowledge.
Cam hasn't bought himself something in years, beside weed and alcohol, which is still pricey itself. Beside it tho, Everything he had goes toward the household finances. Jen makes almost weekly frivolous purchases without first checking in with cam, from watches , to toys, to clothes, to specialty coffee, And claims this is apart of what she contributes, even if it means they go without necessities like gas, or her contribution of groceries. Here are the things that don't sit right for me, and make me question what her intentions really are; - jen has blocked all loved ones on her social media accounts, and just denies it. -jen uses these accounts to post things about how she feels so alone, no one loves her, no one wants to help, or listen, contemplating what her next suicide attempt will be, on 2 accounts where she was hospitalised, once she tried to hang herself, and the other she tried to pop pills. On both of these accounts she took videos and made tiktoks, with the noose and the pills. - on the same nights that jen has made these posts, when cam has asked how she was feeling, she has been bubbly and happy. On one occasion, he quoted to her, her most recent post about wanting to die, and cam said her persona almost immediately shifted from bubbly, to sad and depressed. He described it like, for a moment she forgot to keep up her sad face. When I've been there for weeks sometimes to help out, she has non stop talked about herself, her trauma, her mental disorders, and how much she wants to get better and get help. Like im taking, if you had a radio non stop in the back ground. She never really listens, and if she does, she finds a way to relate the story to her life. She seems to be doing really good when im there, but when she's alone, it reverts straight back to the same thing. She has not responded, ever, to a single message ive sent her, and she blocked me on her private page where she posts all the above mentioned stuff. (I have a business profile, so I still see it.) She has over 5k follows on this account, She'll talk your ear off if you're there, but ghosts you when you're not in her presence, and complains on social media that no one loves her, wants to help, or cares for her. While literally blocking out everyone reaching out and actively hiding this account. She goes from screaming at cam for being abusive and controlling,to crying because loves him and she's so worried about him, and doesn't ever want to lose him, To talking about how he is the one who's keeping her unwell, Then it's her medication, then her head issues, to her trauma, to her Mil. She cutting everyone out who actually wants to help, but keeps screaming from the rooftops that she wants it so badly. She also says she loves her life, relationship, friends and family, But completely blocks them out and hadnt actually been a support system as a partner, She never listens, like ever. You could be in the middle of a sentence and shell cut you off to talk about her self. I've never seen cam have the space to even talk about his day, he can't even say his hard a hard day without jen comparing it to the difficulty of being with children for the 5ish hours she spent with them that day. She does not initiate help for herself besides talking to her case worker about her trauma. Shell go the shop to get herself coffee or smokes, but won't get groceries or dinner while there. She deletes all of her conversations. And has multiple accounts, emails, etc. It honestly feels like she's living a double life. In the past year cam has had to change jobs repeatedly due to having time off to look after the children and losing them. Hes had to drive back and forth to the hospital for jen, find emergency sitters for his children, take over all of the household care and still work. She is not affectionate, never let's him cuddle or hold her, and refuses sex, unless she initiates it. This has hurt cam greatly, and he feels constantly rejected and like he's doing something wrong. From the things I've seen it honestly seems like jen lives in a resentment mentality for cam, like she's better off, until she almost loses him. Then she will drop things like, that she wants to lay in bed and just cuddle him, she misses him, etc, but she refuses it every single time he opens up.
Cam, has said its like living with your babysitter. He is at his wits end in the relationship, but is afraid and unsure of how to actually move forward. He would have 4 children now to care for, and working etc, and even getting them in his custody . Jen doesn't seem to register the strain she is putting on her relationship, and everyone around her. She talks all the time about getting help for herself, but doesnt actually help herself nor her family.
Its a long story but I honestly feel like I needed to lay it all out so you could understand the whole thing here. I want to talk to jen and confront her about this, but I honestly have no idea how to handle it, and I don't ever want to accuse anyone of self harm for attention. I just have no idea what else this is, as she's got a whole network of support she actively ignores, yet continues posting sad stuff on tiktok, fb, and insta. advice for how my brother should handle this, would be greatly appreciated also.
