I wanted to drop the occasional reminder that there's a free Toastmasters-inspired group that meets every Wednesday morning (8:05–8:35) downtown, at Collider Coworking (downtown).
We're a small group of oddball folks — entrepreneurs, stay-at-home parents, chicken farmers, teachers, medical administrators — and for the next few months, we're taking on the challenge of telling personal stories that contain lies.
We've created a hyper-supportive atmosphere for speakers of all abilities: if even just imagining standing up on a stage gives you the willies, we can help you start small! (And if you're an accomplished public speaker, we can provide expert feedback.)
The model we're working from is that of Matthew Dicks, who's the all-time Moth GrandSLAM story-telling competition winner.

The day my grandfather died, it was as if the sun had been snuffed out, plunging my world into darkness. But in the days following his funeral, I began to notice something that would make me wish for the simplicity of grief: my grandfather was still here, but horribly altered.
It started innocently enough. At first, I would catch glimpses of him in crowded places – a flash of his familiar face in a sea of strangers. But the joy of seeing him again quickly turned to dread as I realized that something was profoundly wrong. His once-sparkling blue eyes were now a void of inky blackness, as if his soul had been sucked out and replaced with a malevolent force. His skin appeared unnaturally stretched and waxy, clinging to his skull like a grotesque mask. Worst of all were his teeth, now unnervingly elongated and sharp, as if designed for tearing flesh rather than offering warm smiles.
The terror I felt was soon replaced by a sense of despair and helplessness. No matter where I went or what I did, he was there, watching me with those bottomless, soulless eyes. The more I tried to avoid him, the more frequently he appeared. My life quickly became a living nightmare, an existence consumed by fear and paranoia.
In desperation, I retreated to my home, hoping that its walls would protect me from this monstrous version of my beloved grandfather. I shut out the world, refusing to leave the house for any reason, even to buy groceries or interact with friends. My only connection to the outside was through the cold, sterile lens of a computer screen.
For a while, my isolation seemed to offer some reprieve from the horror.
But then, one stormy night, my fragile sanctuary was shattered. As thunder roared and lightning illuminated the darkness, I heard a soft but persistent tapping on my bedroom window. My heart raced as I hesitated to approach, fearing what I might find on the other side of the glass.
When I finally mustered the courage to pull back the curtains, the sight that greeted me nearly stopped my heart. There he was – the grotesque doppelgänger of my grandfather, his twisted face distorted by a malevolent grin, his elongated teeth glinting in the moonlight. His spindly fingers tapped against the window, leaving behind a viscous, dark residue that seemed to spread and pulse with a life of its own.
The tapping continued every night, each time growing louder and more insistent. I tried to barricade my room, stacking furniture against the window in a futile attempt to silence the sound. But the tapping only grew louder, the relentless rhythm burrowing into my mind, infecting my thoughts and dreams.
As the days blurred into weeks, my sanity began to fray. My sleepless nights were filled with disturbing visions of my grandfather, his once-kindly face now a nightmarish mask of evil. I began to see him even when I closed my eyes, his black, empty gaze boring into my soul.
The darkness in my home grew deeper, as if the malevolent presence outside was seeping in through the cracks in the walls. Shadows danced and twisted in the corners of my vision, forming grotesque shapes that whispered promises of pain and despair. I could feel my strength and will to resist ebbing away, leaving me vulnerable to whatever dark power now controlled my grandfather's form.
I know that I cannot endure this torment much longer. Each night, the tapping grows more desperate, more insistent, as if the thing outside knows that my resolve is weakening. Soon, I fear I will be unable to resist the urge to open the window and face the horror that waits in the darkness.

My boyfriend and I recently moved in with one of our close friends. We all lived alone for the last several years, so it is an adjustment.
When we first moved in, she asked me to get out of her chair I was sitting in because she wanted to sit there. I thought it was weird because it's furniture in our shared living room, but it is her chair and she was home so okay,
I definitely did not think she would care if I sat in the chair when she was not home- especially considering my boyfriend and I provided the couch, TV, coffee table, kitchen appliances etc.- all things she uses. Later, when she wasn't home and I sent her a picture of our cats playing. She replied with, "are you sitting in my chair?" I didn't notice she replied til way later and we were already out hanging out with friends, so I didn't bring it up.
I didnt bring it up again and just avoided sitting there for a few weeks. Well we all come home from a night out and she says she wants to bring up something that's been bothering her. She said the forks still look unclean when we wash them and we need to do a better job. We apologize and say we will try to (in hindsight I think she's just referring to water spots that are kind of inevitable but whatever).

TL;DR: aside from changing my number, how do I protect myself against my brother who is threatening my career and reputation because I won’t drop his charges. He has a history of violence and manipulation with others and myself
My (25) brother (almost 24)and I live in 2 different states, and we have for years. I am an RN, and he is pursuing a rap music sort of thing. He’s you’re typical desperate SoundCloud rapper. From 2018-2020(during the earliest parts of COVID)there was some on and off violence in our home, mainly involving him. He’s left marks on me, he has intimidated me, etc. He is at least 4 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier. I have dropped charges against him before in 2018, but I have no intention to drop the ones from 2020 this time given that he is still violent and intimidating people. He blackmails people (he actually blackmailed someone into paying his rent for a year), he has hit his current girlfriend, he’s had people beat up, and my mom has had a restraining order against him before. He has no remorse or regard for others. Our communication has been sparse and tense for years, but especially in the last year, after he was terrible to my mom and I in my dad’s death anniversary. He blasted me on Instagram to his semi large following in October after I called him out and defended myself.
I guess he is about to face serious trouble for missing court dates and such. He and his girlfriend (the one he has abused, ironically) are threatening my reputation and career as a nurse and has been messaging my boyfriend(who I live with) and my friends to pressure me to drop the charges/gather evidence. I am humiliated that my business is being exposed to these unrelated people. He is telling them all that I’ve done unethical things as a nurse, and that if I want to keep my job, they should all encourage me to drop the charges. My friends and boyfriends support me and have blocked him.
I have no clue what he has on me, because I’m just not recalling anything terrible I’ve done…. I can recall telling him small things(such as making a baby I was taking care of wait a little longer to be fed because I was so busy) but I haven’t done anything terrible or illegal. My record at all my jobs are all clean. I began a new job recently that he doesn’t know anything about, and I’ve been doing well here. My old job, I left on okay terms; they were kind of salty about me leaving, but I didn’t do anything wrong and I got a lot of documented positive feedback from patients and coworkers. I’ve never made any serious errors or out any of my patients in danger.
I’m also in grad school to become a nurse practitioner. I’m over halfway done. He doesn’t know which school I go to luckily, and I think he forgot that I’m even in school/is forgetting what I’m studying.
Because he called me 55 times yesterday from 10 different numbers and sent threats to me about my job/reputation, I changed my phone number. I have probably needed to do this for awhile. No one from my family aside from my sister (who has also been an extreme victim of his abuse and has changed her number) has my new number. My mother is likely on my brother’s side, as he told me I’m going to send her to the grave since she’ll have to work overtime to pay his legal fees. What else should I do? What should I be prepared to do?

“I know you don't want to go but you need to make friends, My weird little diamond.”
If you ask me you should go. It’s a good chance to gather allies, especially because Fathom is out there somewhere.
“I know Clearsight, I’ll try.” Moon muttered
“What did you just say” Secretkeeper questioned
“I said “I’ll try” Mother” Moon Squeaked.
But Moon Couldn’t help but worry. What if they hate me, I mean the nightwings already hate me for not being nightwing enough. The icewings will hate me for being a Nightwing. The Seawings will hate me because Darkstalker killed their “precious” Prince.
“Oh look,” Secretkeeper said, glancing up as she pointed up at the Green and Blue dragons. “Seawings! Do you see the one with ropes of pearls? I think that's their queen!”
“Queen Coral” recited Moon. One thing she could do without being stared at by other dragons or accidentally saying the wrong thing was studying, and so she’d done a lot to prepare for Jade Mountain Academy. “Those two must be her daughters because she never lets them out of her sight, I’m not sure about the other one however.”
“Remember not to show off,” Secretkeeper scolded. “I mean thanks for telling me but others might not like it.”
Moon Frowned it's clear that she cares more about whether others like me than if like them.
As if the universe was trying to distract her, a deep blue Seawing came barreling out the cave entrance as soon as the seawings landed.
“You came,” She called out happily. Her wings flared out and wrapped the older daughter, who was a white-pink, like seashells.
“I'm not sure about this,” Queen Coral said in a worried voice.
“It’ll be fine,” Tsunami promised the queen “I’ll take care of anemone” The princess promised as she grinned at her sister.
Me too, Me too! Yelled the small dragonet “ I want to go to school too!” She pounced on her harness trying to wrestle it to the ground.
“You are much too young” Queen Coral said sternly “I need to keep you safe, especially with Anemone this far away!”
“Maybe next year, Auklet,” Tsunami said. The tiny dragonet beamed.
The Queen frowned at Tsunami “and I'm only letting this happen because Anemone has badgered me about this everyday since we got your message about the school. But you can come home anytime, you understand? If you feel threatened, overworked, or tired- ” she said, embracing her daughter.
“I’ll be fine” She squeaked, pulling away from her mothers hug.
“Whos this?” Tsunami asked, turning to the last Seawing, who sat behind Coral with a blank expression on his face.
He looked about Moon's age, and he was dark green, like an emerald hidden in a cave. What stood out to Moon was something quite unordinary, he had an array of different scars riddled across his body. The most notable one being the one that trailed his neck. Unlike his sisters he doesn’t wear any pearls, but he was wearing a golden armband with black gems.
“This is one of your brothers, Queen Coral said “He heard about this school and he wanted to come, too. Which one are you?
“ Lieutenant Turtle Ma’am” he said looking disappointed
“One of my brothers?” Tsunami echoed. “I didn’t realize- I mean, I guess I knew the male eggs were surviving when the female eggs were destroyed by the Orca statue, but I didn’t really think about having brothers.”
“There are thirty of us Princess Tsunami.” Turtle replies
“THIRTY,” Tsunami shouted. “I HAVE THIRTY BROTHERS.”
“Approximately thirty two Princes, Ma’am” Turtle Said turning to Me and Mother, a look similar to a look of curiosity flashed upon his face.
“Who cares about them?” Queen Coral Asked “They can’t Inherit the throne.”
Moon tilted her head at him expecting a reaction, But then she realized she couldn’t hear any thoughts from him, nothing at all, just a giant threatening hum.
That's Strange, Moon thinks. Only a few dragons could block her mind reading but their guards feel like a heavily guarded wall, thorny and prickly, this feels like a prison, one that I can’t escape.
As Moon flinched from this “prison” she glanced up at Turtle. Who responded with a passive aggressive smile.
He’s unique. Moon realizes. On the outside he looks like he has nothing to hide, but on the inside he’s the most secretive.
“Well I’m glad to meet you,” Tsunami says rolling her eyes “and i’m glad you’re joining the school so I can know you better”
“Well I want to see everything before I leave.” Queen Coral demands. Moon caught twin threads of annoyance coming from Anemone and Tsunami, But Tsunami just nodded.
“Of course. Come inside.” Tsunami offers as the seawings step inside.
Turtle takes one last glance at Moon before joining the others. But as soon as he looked away she felt dizzy. Then everything faded into darkness as the world was piecing itself back together. Then Moon saw one thing, Turtle, Mercilessly slaughtering Nightwing soldiers charging at him.

Hello,
I have been questioning my gender since just before high school, and it has grown in intensity since then. I have been off and on with hrt and most recently have just taken a break after a little over three months. I decided to stop because I felt like I was getting further away from myself rather than getting closer to who I am, which I think ultimately is one of the primary goals of transition, becoming closer to who we are and the most authentic version of self. When I stopped hrt, I did so because it felt like internally my masculinity was too conflicted with my feminine side to have this really be who I am, a trans woman. I felt overjoyed at first that I had finally reached a conclusion and that I was actually a man and that I was finally getting closer to myself. And that in the process I had come to understand better what trans people go through and the joy which transition provided people by allowing them to become the most true version of themselves which would help me be a more empathetic person generally and also a better ally.

But what ended up happening over the last few weeks is that I am questioning my gender again and wanting to express myself more femininely again. Whenever I get the chance at home I am living as my female self. I don't want the muscles and masculine feature which are rapidly coming back, other than for how the world and society see me with them; its hard because sometimes I actually do feel very comfortable but when in private it all changes. This has all been very confusing because each time I start to allow myself to become the woman I feel like I want to be, I feel like I am trying to be someone I am not, like I am making this concerted effort to run away from myself. Is this imposter syndrome?

I’ve been using my beloved Scarlett 2i2(2gen) for 4 years now and feels like it is time to make an upgrade. I have seen a lot of videos and reviews and i still cant desire what to buy. I am a rapper and engineer, doing all my work from my home studio.
I’ve bought the Apollo solo last week, ended up returning it cause it didnt work well on my Windows Pc
I was close to buying the Zen Go, but it seems like it have a lot of drivers issues, so i will stay far away from that.

Did my first kickboxing video today. I knew I would struggle because I am not coordinated at all. I am thankful for the quality of the Fitness+ videos because it’s definitely something I would’ve had a hard time doing in a gym setting. I stumbled a lot. I’m sure I made things up at points. But I did it in the comfort of my own home and finished it, without being embarrassed or breaking down. I’m proud of myself for trying it and ready to keep improving.

Which is great, because it means I get full meals delivered to my room! Usually I have to go out to the dining room with my noise cancelling headphones and the old people who live here keep trying to talk to me and I keep having to point to my headphones and repeat “I can’t hear you with my headphones on” and then we have to stare at each other for waaaay too long with them expecting me to take my headphones off in order to have a full out conversation and me waiting for them to figure out that no, I’m not going to take my headphones off because I don’t want a conversation and then they get mad, go off in a huff, promptly forget, and we have to repeat the whole thing the next day (or the next meal even!) Well - TWO WHOLE WEEKS OF SOLITUDE! I couldn’t be happier!
(Side note - I’m not just in a nursing home because of autism, though that is a minor contributing factor. I also have a few musculaconnective tissue, neurological and mental health disorders and need a wheelchair and medication support, and it’s worth noting that as far as I’m aware I’m the only person in the building with autism and I’m definitely the youngest person here with the average age range being 70-90 years old, while I’ve lived here since I was 27.)

I'm debating on buying a Google Pixel 3a and install Ubuntu Touch.
I want to use python to access the GPS and display locations on a map. I already have the python code written and running on a Raspberry Pi.
Does Ubuntu Touch support python3? If so.. can python3 access the GPS and get the current locations?
Does Ubuntu Touch have an OpenVPN client? I want to connect to my home network while away from home. I plan to connect the Pixel 3a to my iPhone hotspot for internet access.
