Me and 4 other soldiers are in AIT at Goodfellow AFB after being at DLI. After we PCS'd to GAFB, we started receiving San Angelo BAH instead of Monterey, CA BAH. The problem is that our families are still in Monterey so San Angelo BAH does not cover our rent. It used to be that if you go to GAFB for AIT after DLI, it's TDY and you kept Monterey BAH. But now since it's a PCS, you technically get San Angelo BAH. They didn't tell us this until we started in-pro at GAFB, the BAH change took effect in policy 2 weeks before we arrived. We submitted all our waivers to start receiving Monterey BAH again so that's good, but now we are waiting for the Monterey BAH and backpay for it.
Well now it's the end of the month and rent and bills are coming up for all of us. Monterey military housing took money from DFAS for rent that our paychecks can't cover so some of our paychecks will be $0 in a week and a debt of like $1300 which is the difference in Monterey rent and San Angelo BAH.
We don't know what to do except to go to our commander and ask for options, but I don't want to go in half-cocked and I want to know some options beforehand so we aren't just brushed off and told to do something all willy nilly (Which happened when we first brought it up to our DS- we were just told to budget which is impossible). Is an AER loan the only option to cover rent and bills while we wait for the backpay and for our BAH to switch to normal? Thank you, this is urgent and some of us are losing our minds over this.

Good afternoon, this has really bothered me and I don’t know how to process it. My husband and I have been married for 3 year. It’ll be 4 years in December. Well, I’ve never had a problem with my in-laws at all. I love my in-laws. This past Friday has changed my mind forever of my father in law. I was with my father in law running some errands because he wanted company. Never had an issue with this before and didn’t even think this would happen. But anyway, I was in the passenger seat and we was headed home. He GRABBED MY HAND and held it and then was rubbing my arm and he did this till we got home. I was a little freaked out but I was trying to stay calm and not make him mad since he was driving. Well, he said “I’m gonna take the long way home”. So he was talking and told me, “I really love you. You’re my dream girl. I think you are so beautiful and sexy. Don’t tell your husband (his son) or my wife. I’m just so glad I got to tell you because I’m tired of keeping it to myself.” 😨 I didn’t know what to say. My father in law NEVER had said anything to me like that before. I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say so I just didn’t say anything. We was almost home & I was just praying and hoping he would hurry up and we would get to my house so I could just go in and lock the door. As we was almost home he said, “if you want me to kiss you, I would. Just tell me whenever you’re ready.” 😳😳😳 I was completely creeped out. Ive never gave him any attention or any type of vibe that I liked him. I’m married to his son and I love my husband with my whole heart. I would never do anything to hurt him & for my father in law to think I would is just mind blowing. I had a panic attack just waiting on my husband to come home to tell him. I just didn’t think my husband would believe me. So when my husband got home, I told him what happened and I was crying. He called his mom and told her to come to our house. I told her and she was so mad. I was so freaked out I had to leave and go stay with my sister. I just can’t process what happened. I told my husband and my MIL that I will not have anything to do with him again & that he isn’t allowed around me. I just can’t get over him doing that. I still kinda think my husband doesn’t believe me. I just needed to tell someone else and see if maybe someone else has went through this and how they handled it??

I've had a new vinyl plank floor installed in my kitchen a couple of weeks back. The floor has seen vary minimal traffic as no one is living in the house. The heat is turned off and temps in the San Jose, Ca. area range from 40-60 degrees, from night to day respectively. The floor is showing at least one area of significant buckling. To the point where you can hear the tile slap against the underlayment. My question is, what type of repair is reasonable considering considering this is a brand new floor ?
During the installation, before the molding was installed, I pointed out to the GC that the installer did NOT allow for expansion on all sides. The GC said it wasn't really necessary because this floor doesn't really expand much.

Hi everyone. So basically, my (20m) gf (19f) lives 2 hours away from me. However since she started university, her apartment is only about 20 minutes away from me. During the week when she’s at her apartment, we are almost always by eachother. She even spends most nights by my house and I drop her to her apartment before work and pick her up after. She doesn’t have any classes on Mondays, and during this time I would meet her prenda half way and take her back to the apartment.
However we have this REOCCURRING problem that when she does go home on weekends, we alwayssss get into arguments. She would say that I don’t love her because I don’t go home to her house with her some weekends. But the thing is I do go with her a lot of the times and stay with her for the whole weekend. But when i don’t (bc of family stuff or whatnot) she makes it seem like I’m a horrible person and I don’t love her. She says that i don’t care about her and she doesn’t want to talk to me because ignoring me would make her happy. I feel like a horrible person when i cant go up.
Sometimes, we would even have a plan that she would go home on a Friday and Monday I’ll pick her up early (like this weekend). We made that plan since Thursday and everything was ok, we were both fine with it. Yes, we were sad because she was going but we both knew we’d see eachother again Monday and furthermore we had a lot of activities planned for the following weekend. Even on Friday, she told me she’s sad to be leaving but it’s ok because i have her from Monday. Then literally 1 hour later before her parents picked her up she started getting extremely sad and mad at me and said that I don’t love her and she thinks i don’t care about her. This really hurts and I love her unconditionally and always do everything to make her the happiest girl in the world. I always put her first. And since she left on Friday she’s barely spoken to me and is ignoring me. She’s being very mean to me when she does speak to me and I feel like a horrible person, when all I do is try to make her happy. I see lots of discussion on here about the fact that we can't make the TOTS that we want. I've thought about this quite a bit and I'm trying to see it from EA's viewpoint. What is a valid reason for doing it this way? I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it isn't done this way to force people to spend money on the game. I have never and will never spend a cent on packs, but Leon Draisaitl is my favorite player in the NHL and as it stands now, I have no guaranteed way of getting his TOTS aside from 1) using coins (that I don't have) to buy in auction house 2)using coins (that I don't have) to buy his x-factor and upgrade it all the way and trade it in.
Is there one single valid reason for setting the event up this way? Is it really just a money grab? If so, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Alright so this is kind of an awkward question because I don't know if I can even do anything. If I'm being crazy or what but if anything ever happened I at least need to try to prevent it. Long story short I have a sibling with extreme anger issues, he came out of the womb mad. Like when we were kids he tried to stab us with knives. I found out recently that my brother was hospitalized for trying to kill my sister while he was in school. He's an adult now but everything about him is off. My mom has coddled him to the point of no return and so he can't take anything. He's been diagnosed with autism but honestly idk if that's it. The few times I've interacted with him has led me to determine it's best I keep as much distance as possible. I'll explain them briefly...
The last time I lived at my mother's house I came home from work one day to find my laptop cord missing from my room. My brother took it and I yelled at him for going into my room and to give it back. Not only did he not give it back he screamed in my face and threatened my life and my dogs life. My mom did nothing and told him to give it back and that she would buy him a new cord tomorrow. No resolution was met, I was terrified and so I called the police. My mom was angry at me for doing so and that's when I realized I needed to leave the situation to protect my life and my animals life.
The last time I interacted with him my mom ended up in the hospital because she was having severe mental health issues and is an alcoholic. While she was in the hospital I asked my siblings to clean the house for when my mom came home. I ended up cleaning the kitchen because they wouldn't. When I asked him to clean up the little I left but we ended up getting into an argument and he screamed in my face. He screamed that he was going to kill himself and I honestly I left all my stuff there and got out. I truly believe if I stayed he would have harmed me.
Recently I've heard some information about him and I feel like I need to tell someone. He's not normal, I believe he's going to hurt someone one day. I found out that there was a squirrel in my mom's attic and when they caught the squirrel my brother asked if he should murdeburn/drown it. Another thing that triggered my warning signs is information my gram relayed to me. That he blames all his life suffering from the fact he got held back in first grade...like what? Seriously this is shit you hear in manifestos created by mass killers. I just don't wanna be one of those family members who did nothing. Like there has to be an FBI hotline or something.
Look idk if there's anything I can do but if there is, what can I do?

I married & moved in with my husband last Dec after 3 yrs of dating. We are both parents of adult children.
Last March my husband’s daughter moved here to escape homelessness after COVID closed down her place of employment. She had formerly been incarcerated for B&E to feed her drug habit but had been clean and working for 2/3 years since her release. We didn’t think she was completely sober (still drinking/ smoking weed legally) but nothing problematic.
When she moved here my husband bought her a bus ticket. We had 24 hours’ notice. She was in terrible shape and had only the clothes on her back. I ended up giving her an entire wardrobe worth of nice clothes, outerwear, designer bags, high end shoes & makeup- trying to help her recover some self esteem & get a job. Eventually she did, bartending at a very popular local restaurant.
She paid no rent, no household bills, did no chores. Among many other things we got her a cell phone, and helped her get a car. She seemed to be doing well. We got along well. Until I moved in.
The last few months were a downward slide. She stopped working any hours, always had an excuse, stayed in her room if we were home and awake. Things began to go missing. My things, husbands’ things, cash, alcohol, etc. She always had an alibi. She started taking three hour showers and sleeping 18 hours a day saying she was sick. Her face broke out all over in horrible sores. “An allergic reaction”. She “borrowed” over 2k in three weeks for various “emergencies” from my husband, her mom, and her sister (we weren’t all communicating so this came out later). A friend of hers told us she stole a bottle of Vicodin from him when she visited after his surgery. Then my husband had surgery last week and she stole 2/3 of his painkillers. Yesterday we went out for the afternoon and when we returned she had cleaned us out. All the cash in the house was gone, all the drugs, a lot of jewelry, my debit card, and all her clothes. Gone.
We got a text from her later that she had “fucked up” and it was time for her to go home. She stole anything she could get her hands on on her way out the door.
My husband’s heart is breaking. He wants me to tell no one. Not his other kids, not my family, no one. Personally I believe anyone close to her needs to know so they can protect themselves and because without accountability she just does this over and over. He is adamant we say nothing.
Cleaning out her room I just found a detailed record of her shoplifting habits, she was keeping track of what she was stealing, where she could return it without proof of purchase, what the easiest high value things to steal at what stores were & when she’d last been where. She kept changing her hair color, now I’m thinking this was why. I want to show my husband but I don’t think he can handle it right now. He’s already talked himself out of changing our locks.
I don’t know what to do here. I definitely didn’t sign on for this. I’m worried, angry, hurt. And at a loss how to deal with it. If anyone has advice I'd appreciate it.

Hi, I am a 24yo female. I'm still new to reddit, so please forgive me for any mistakes I might make here. I have been reading through these types of stories for a few years now, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on something that happened to me. This is not the most exciting story you're going to read, and I can't explain why it happened the way it did. I am also really stupid and lack all common sense in this story. I'm sorry.
I used to live in an old victorian house in Maryland, and at the time of this story I was 10 years old. This house had been turned into a duplex that split the two floors and basically just rented them as apartments. I lived in the upstairs. There was a university nearby so we had a lot of college students, and we also had a lot of drug issues in the area. People were always getting their houses searched or getting into fights over it, and I don't remember much crime happening there that was unrelated to drugs.
The owner of the house had told my family that the people who had rented the upstairs previously had given him a lot of trouble and he had kicked them out. My family had just moved there for my dad's new job, and we didn't have a place to live yet, so we were thankful that their contract ended early so we could take their place. If there was anything else the owner told my parents, it was not shared with me.
I was homeschooled online and an only child, so my parents would leave for the day to go to work while I stayed in the apartment and did my schoolwork alone. Maybe about a week after we had moved in, there was this loud banging on the door. I ran down the inside stairs to open it, and there was this tall, thick man dressed in all black, with a black mask over his whole face, with holes for his eyes and mouth. As immensely stupid as this sounds, no alarm bells went off to me. This place was cold year round and I stupidly just assumed his gear happened to be black. Behind him I remember seeing a car parked next to the building that was still running.
He just stood there silently for a couple seconds, and I felt awkward, so I said "Hi, can I help you with something?" He continued to just stand there for what felt to me like forever, before saying something like "I'm here for the mail." I'm smiling and saying something like "oh, sure! You must have just moved out! My dad already brought the mail in this morning, let me go see if there's anything," so I turned around, left the door wide open, and ran inside to find the mail pile. I looked through it, but didn't see anything that didn't have my family's name on it, so I went back to the door. When I went back to tell him the bad news, he was gone, and so was the car.
When they came home that evening, I told my parents (unaware) that the previous renters had stopped by and asked for their mail. My dad had a fit and said I shouldn't have opened the door while I was home alone, and that apparently our mail comes from the owner, since he seperates it before bringing it to each renter's box since we had the same address, so we wouldn't have gotten any mail that didn't belong to us anyway, and that the previous renters would already know that. I know enough now to know that I handled this situation entirely wrong and am beyond stupid, and I'm not looking to get berated for it. I would actually like to hear why you think, if this suspicious guy had malicious intentions.... why didn't he do anything? I was home alone, it was morning so my parents wouldn't have come back until the evening anyway, I don't even think the other renter was home, I clearly didn't suspect anything from him and left the door wide open while I turned my back to him and ran inside the house...
I am immensely thankful that nothing happened to me. I don't ever want to appear as ungrateful that this didn't take an awful turn. I just don't understand what protected me, if that is actually the case.

I used to live in an old victorian house in Maryland, and at the time of this story I was 10 years old. This house had been turned into a duplex that split the two floors and basically just rented them as apartments. I lived in the upstairs. There was a university nearby so we had a lot of college students, and we also had a lot of drug issues in the area. People were always getting their houses searched or getting into fights over it, and I don't remember much crime happening there that was unrelated to drugs.
The owner of the house had told my family that the people who had rented the upstairs previously had given him a lot of trouble and he had kicked them out. My family had just moved there for my dad's new job, and we didn't have a place to live yet, so we were thankful that their contract ended early so we could take their place. If there was anything else the owner told my parents, it was not shared with me.
I was homeschooled online and an only child, so my parents would leave for the day to go to work while I stayed in the apartment and did my schoolwork alone. Maybe about a week after we had moved in, there was this loud banging on the door. I ran down the inside stairs to open it, and there was this tall, thick man dressed in all black, with a black mask over his whole face, with holes for his eyes and mouth. As immensely stupid as this sounds, no alarm bells went off to me. This place was cold year round and I stupidly just assumed his gear happened to be black. Behind him I remember seeing a car parked next to the building that was still running.
He just stood there silently for a couple seconds, and I felt awkward, so I said "Hi, can I help you with something?" He continued to just stand there for what felt to me like forever, before saying something like "I'm here for the mail." I'm smiling and saying something like "oh, sure! You must have just moved out! My dad already brought the mail in this morning, let me go see if there's anything," so I turned around, left the door wide open, and ran inside to find the mail pile. I looked through it, but didn't see anything that didn't have my family's name on it, so I went back to the door. When I went back to tell him the bad news, he was gone, and so was the car.
When they came home that evening, I told my parents (unaware) that the previous renters had stopped by and asked for their mail. My dad had a fit and said I shouldn't have opened the door while I was home alone, and that apparently our mail comes from the owner, since he seperates it before bringing it to each renter's box since we had the same address, so we wouldn't have gotten any mail that didn't belong to us anyway, and that the previous renters would already know that. To make a long story short, my sister (32) and I (26F) ended up moving back home at the sametime due to COVID. I'm WFH, and he lots her job. Because she has three kids, she made a big stink to keep the entire second floor to her and her kids. I got "stuck" with the creepy, musky basement because of her.
Only it turned out to be a dream. I'm very introverted, and nobody wanted to go down to the creepy, unfinished, spider-infested basement. So it worked. I spent every month since trying to finish the basement. I finished the floor with epoxy. Fixed the water heater on my own dime. Got a split-unit for heating/cooling. Exterminated. Then I installed some nice track lighting. Got a mini-fridge and foos ball table. Now it's my own personal clubhouse.
Until recently, when I noticed someone was stealing my energy drinks and messing with my game consoles. Nobody confessed. So I bought a lock and key for both doors, gave my dad the only spare (it's his house), and locked up on Thursday, so I could go to an office meeting. That's when we found out it was my nephew, because he left his stuffed toy in there and apparently whined all day until my dad got home and let him in. Now my sister is raising hell about how I shouldn't get so much space to myself since I don't have kids; that I don't pay enough rent to justify it; that nothing in this arrangement is fair and she is demanding that I leave the space open as a family room. That was not the arrangement though. The basement is my room, and I'm the one who spent all that time and money fixing it. Nobody wanted to be there until I was finished with it.
Things got heated and I called her kid a filthy brat, because he is. He gets mud everywhere. Never washes his hands. And he's broken just about every console she's ever gotten the kids. And now she wants me kicked out of the house. AITAH?
