2023.03.26 20:57 visimens-technology What do we do when the machine becomes smarter than us?
| AI systems will eventually become smarter than humans. As this AI continues to progress, machines will reach and exceed the level of human intelligence, being a new form of life that does not depend on biology. That's what Max Tigmark says in his new book Life. Tigmark explores various aspects of AI: its history, potential future developments, ethical concerns, safety concerns that arise as AI becomes more advanced. He refers to what he calls " Life 3.0" as a phase where humans and artificial intelligence are integrated, and this allows artificial intelligence to become an essential part of our lives, shaping our culture, our values, and even our biological makeup. https://preview.redd.it/zeeyc38ur4qa1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7aff7cd81b18eb590c1b253ddd6eec8220802f3 The book is divided into several chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of artificial intelligence and its effects. The author discusses the potential of ultra-intelligent artificial intelligence, the impact of artificial intelligence on jobs and economics, and the potential consequences of artificial intelligence on human values and ethics. It also explores different scenarios for humanity's future, from ideal visions to catastrophic outcomes. The book " Life 3.0 is informative and attractive in an easy and clear manner. One of its strongest aspects is its widespread coverage, exploring ethical AI questions and scenarios. The author encourages readers to think about the potential consequences of artificial intelligence on human values, ethics and safety. This thought-provoking approach makes the book more than an informative reading; It also serves as a call to action for readers to deal with these critical issues. Some readers may find the speculative nature of certain parts of the book less attractive, as Teigmark delves into different future scenarios and their possible outcomes. However, this speculation is based on current research and trends, making it valuable to spark debate. submitted by visimens-technology to technology_vmt [link] [comments] |

2023.03.26 20:48 DeathTriangle720 Should new japan just sign up young talent from England and Australia?
So some news came out today of the United Empire acquiring a new member Dan Moloney from the UK. Now my first thought is that it's good especially since he's young and could be used on the roster without him probably costing a lot for the company.
And it got me thinking... New japan when they bring in someone from Europe. Talent like Ospreay, Jay White, ZSJ, Gabriel Kidd, Henare, Aussie Open, etc. They get some of the best talents from there. It seems like the best choice to acquire some fresh blood for the company especially when a lot of the bigger-name talent would be signing with the other major promotions that can afford them.
And new japan can't match the offers of other promotions and they lose out on talent. So going after talent that is on a lower radar seems like the best choice.

I heard that red velvet has plans to do a world tour, but right now all we have for the location of the concert are korea and japan. Will it expand? I hope so because I rly want to see red velvet live at least once in my life 🥹
Also, I know that you can watch the concert on beyond live, but I want to experience the real live feeling of a concert rather than just on my computer.

2023.03.26 20:46 ether_rogue What does Pochi mean in Jinsei Reset Button Pochi??
Like, I know Pochi is a name for dogs in Japan., but other than that, I can't find a translation for it. Google translate translates ぽち into English as just "pochi" even, so I'm thinking maybe it's just meant to be like a cute noise? But I'm not sure.

Hi so, I found out last week that to see a Dr for diagnosing will take 20-24 months, Toronto. I am in ontario, Canada and I am wondering if there are options within road trip driving or flying distance. I don't know if there are other diagnosing drs in canada, or if other people have gone about getting diagnosed outside of Canada- and what that cost or coverage looks like.
Thanks ! Hope you're having a not too painful day!

2023.03.26 20:32 thisisatreespeaking CI/ECI existing conditions
Hi! 20-30M here, finally taking a serious look at my insurance coverage. I’m looking to get CI/ECI, and that involves declaring pre-existing medical conditions.
For some context, my vision isn’t the greatest and can’t be fully corrected with prescription lenses. It’s not horrendous, but a few years back I got a referral to SNEC to check it out. Since then have been going for yearly checkups to monitor, to pick up early glaucoma if there is. Standard exams (visual acuity, visual field, pressure, OCT) turn up inconclusive, so just continuing the yearly checkups for now.
In this case, I’ve not been diagnosed with anything. And on healthhub there isn’t anything official too - only records of eye tests and eye consultations.
Part of me feels like there isn’t an official “diagnosis”, so perhaps there’s no need to declare it? Basically worried about blowing things out of proportion needlessly. But rationally since insurance is partly for ease of mind, I should “play safe” and declare everything, potentially biting the exclusion now, compared to being hit with the exclusion when I’m in the midst of coping with any actual diagnosis/treatment?
I’m not familiar with how things are usually done, would appreciate any advice/suggestions!

2023.03.26 20:31 ash_is_expired Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival Regional Difference Concerns
I'm looking into buying the newest release of Taiko no Tatsujin, but the English version sold by Nintendo on their website seems to be more expensive than ones sold in Japan. I know with some games, like Splatoon 3, the language displayed in-game will be the same as the one set for your console. Will Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival do the same, or will I need to buy the English release in order to play in English?

2023.03.26 20:31 AssistancePretend668 Thank you to the people who revommended US Mobile as my secondary carrier!
Got a few recommendations for USM here recently, and have been trying to replace Visible as my second/backup provider.
I'm still keeping Fi for the international coverage, but USM has been great since signing up (even though that was just yesterday). It took me a while to get past the logo and website, but the rest has been great. Faster than Visible was, although Fi still beats it in my area.
Hope this helps someone else who's looking!
I am in no way affiliated with USM, nor am I sharing a referral code here, as that's not the purpose of my post!

2023.03.26 20:24 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Leak Has Fans In A Frenzy For Rockstar’s Next Monster Game Title
So far, Rockstar Games has been rather tight-lipped about its upcoming addition to the Grand Theft Auto series with GTA 6. However, that could be changing soon, based on recent speculation and potential leaks from YouTuber SanInPlay, who previously correctly predicted information about GTA 6’s female protagonist.
In September, GTA 6 gameplay footage leaked online, sending the internet into a frenzy over what was not previously known. That footage quickly spread, being torn down by Rockstar and then popping back up on another site just as quickly. At that time, we expected that Rockstar might leverage the new found excitement about GTA 6, and announce the game properly or even drop a trailer. However, this was not to be, as Rockstar remained silently plugging away.
SanInPlay twitter trailer content leak
As we go into 2023, we expect some GTA 6 news to come out, and we might get it sooner rather than later. YouTuber SanInPlay originally reported that one of the playable protagonists of GTA 6 would be a Latina named Lucia, over a month before we had any information from the leaks. More recently, SanInPlay has claimed that there might be a trailer with a few specific beats, including planes passing overhead, dogs playing, and Lucia in prison exercising, among other details.
SanInPlay twitter Lucia content leak
Of course, this could all be proven wrong by Rockstar in the coming weeks, though prior leaks would suggest otherwise. However, Rockstar could also recut and tweak their trailer if they have one waiting in the wings, should they want to discredit SanInPlay, so future leaks get less coverage. Either way, we will have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks, because if there is speculation such as this, something of real substance might be coming soon. Where there's smoke there's fire most times, as they say.

2023.03.26 20:24 usernames_r_lame Almost nothing counts towards deductible for Cigna plan
I have a Cigna plan through my employer. I chose a lower deductible plan, expecting to meet the deductible fairly quickly because I have a lot of doctor visits and prescriptions. Turns out that none of the services I regularly use apply. On my coverage page it says "Expenses that apply to your in-network deductible, include payments for covered medical, behavioral health, and pediatric vision services before your plan begins to pay. Copays and coinsurance don't count toward your deductible." Is this common?
In the past I have had Rx not apply, but not even co-pays? After going through all of the costs for the various services, it says "your in-network deductible is waived" (as though it is a good thing) for everything except surgeries and inpatient stays. It is really annoying because I didn't know this info until after I chose this plan and with these restrictions I am unlikely to reach my deductible, unless I have an unexpected serious illness/issue. Obviously there is nothing I can do about it now, but are a lot of plans like this?

2023.03.26 20:23 TheWholeTeamHere I'm visiting Japan for the second time - should I travel to the south, north, or center?
My partner and I travelled to Japan for the first time just as the country lifted its covid restrictions. We did the semi-generic tourist route over two weeks from Osaka > Kyoto > Nara > Hakone > Tokyo > Mount Fuji. We saw all the major tourist destinations in the aforementioned locations (and I proposed in Lake Kawaguchiko!)
We're returning in NovembeDecember, spending 5 days in Seoul, South Korea, then flying to Japan for
12-14 days before returning to Seoul for a return flight to the UK. We can either:
- Fly from Seoul to Fukuoka and stop off in various locations in south Japan before returning to Seoul from Tokyo Airport
- Fly from Seoul to Tokyo, travel to areas in the center like Nagano, Niigata, Gifu, Fukushima etc., and return to Seoul from Tokyo Airport
- Fly from Seoul to Tokyo, travel on a route north (by train) into Hokkaido, stopping in areas along the way like Sendai, Aomori, Hakodate etc., and return to Seoul from Sapporo airport.
We enjoy spending times in the cities but equally enjoy spending time in the more rural, traditional areas relaxing in onsens with beautiful temples and scenery.
Which of the three possible routes would you recommend? (or secret fourth routes you might think are better?)
